"Surrounded by swaying palms, tropical flowers, pink sand, and sapphire waters, the 100-acre Fairmont Southampton is Bermuda’s ultimate luxury destination. The 593 rooms and suites are among the largest on the island, and feature marble baths stocked with Le Labo products and private balconies that look out onto the Atlantic Ocean, Great Sound Harbour, or the lush landscaping of the on-site Turtle Hill Golf Club. A pool, beach club, dive center, kid’s camp, and tennis courts—plus that 18-hole championship course—offer plenty to keep guests busy. If you prefer to kick back, opt for a lavender-oil massage at Willow Stream Spa, a sprawling space complete with a well-stocked health club, sauna, and steam rooms, or grab a sundowner at one of the resort’s 10 restaurants, bars, and lounges."

Fairmont Southampton - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"First impressions? It’s takes about 50 minutes to reach Fairmont Southampton from Bermuda 's L.F. Wade International Airport, but who cares? The drive hugs the turquoise coastline for most of the ride, and you can snap photos of shimmering Horseshoe Bay, the island’s finest slice of pink sand , directly next to this mammoth hotel. The stately entryway, flanked by lush bougainvillea and tropical hibiscus, couldn’t possibly be more inviting and the white-jacketed gents who are there to open the car doors seem happy that you’ve arrived. Give us a closer look. If ever there was a property that boasted every type of amenity, restaurant, and perk, it would be this sprawling Southampton resort. With 593 guest rooms, the island’s only high-rise hotel is also Bermuda’s largest hotel—a fact that’s abundantly on display the moment you drive up the lush tree-lined entryway, which abuts an executive par three golf course. Nicknamed the Southampton Princess by locals since it’s long been a sister hotel to the landmark property in Hamilton, this imposing building is also a light shade of pink. And like the one in town, it’s also managed by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. What are the rooms like? Guest rooms here can have vastly different views. Some stare directly at the Atlantic Ocean; others overlook the golf course and Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse in the distance; some, on the lower floors, have no view at all—certainly the most economical option if you want all the amenities of a full-service resort. No matter where land, you’ll be guaranteed outdoor space in the form of a private outdoor balcony. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? There's free, resort-wide Wi-Fi for guests and non-guests. What can we eat and drink here? The Fairmont Southampton has nine on-site restaurants and most of them are very good. Enjoy southern barbecue at Boundary Sports Bar and Grille, morning pick-me-ups at Wickets Coffee Bar, Spanish tapas at Mediterra, breakfast with water views at Ocean Club, and an all-day menu of pretty much anything you can think of at the Jasmine Cocktail Bar & Lounge, the elegant lobby lounge. How's the service? This place has a lot of local employees; somehow each encounter is as pleasant as the next. What type of travelers will you find here? Families, couples looking for a full-service stay, and large corporate groups here for conferences. What else can we find in the surrounding area? The resort offers direct access to Horseshoe Bay, one of the world’s best beaches. Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse is also a short walk away—you can climb a cast-iron tower for a stunning 360-degree panorama—as is Church Bay, a well-protected cove that’s home to some of Bermuda’s best snorkeling. What would you change? With 99 acres, getting to the restaurants, golf course, and private beach club—home to tennis courts and a PADI dive center—may take a few more minutes than you’d like. Fortunately, the entire resort is well-served by a caravan of bus-sized trolleys. Any other features worth noting? It's a playground for adults and children. Little ones will love the kids' club, which has video games, arts and crafts, and toys galore, and the kiddie pool, which has a 20-foot-long water slide. Parents will love the Willow Stream Spa, a 21,000-square-foot health-and-wellness center with a blissful, adults-only indoor pool and an outdoor deck that overlooks the ocean. Order lunch from the spa menu, and enjoy it outside after your treatment. What makes this place worth the ride from the airport? If you’re searching for a full-service property with all the amenities you’d expect of the island’s largest hotel, you can’t do much better than this resort in Southampton." - David LaHuta

Felt like everything was way too outdated! Every time we ordered a drink, they had to close out your tab—even if you were a guest. The service was very slow, and by the time you placed an order, it would take another 30 minutes for the bartender to come back. It just didn’t make sense. Our room was great with an ocean view, but the grounds and the main breakfast area were very outdated. Definitely not up to Fairmont standards, which is why we chose to stay here. The whole place really needs a facelift and a lot of love!

Our overall experience was excellent, we spent a week on the property. Everyone at the front and concierge desks were very friendly and helpful. Shuttle drivers were very helpful and on our last morning brought us up to see a great sunrise. Onsite restaurants are expensive. 2 out of 3 visits to the Jasmine lounge we had below average service. We frequented the coffee shop, lots of gluten free options, we just wished it would have stayed open later. The grounds are very picturesque and the ocean club beach is beautiful. I wasn't a fan of the giant herd of ducks out front but plenty of other patrons were and fed them. Boundary the sports bar on property is really nice, good food and excellent service.

Great location. That was my favorite part of the hotel as it's very close to horseshoe beach. The down side is that you have to take a shuttle to get to the beach and really anywhere else in the area. We did manage to walk to a bar not far away but there is not much sidewalk. The golf course is quite beautiful and well maintained. The hotel is generally very clean and rooms are quite large. Overall we enjoyed the experience, just wished the beach was easier to get to.

Booked two rooms that were not together, but the hotel staff accommodated me so that my two rooms are adjoining. The concierge was extremely helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable. The welcoming staff was respectful and eager to lend a hand without the quiet expectation of a tip. The restaurants were excellent in all ways. The live band on the weekends is a great source of entertainment, especially because there isn't much to do after dark. The pool is 24/7, which is a plus because swimming at night was both relaxing and romantic. The shuttles to various parts of the hotel amenities (e.g., beach, golf course) are frequent and clean. The Fairmont Southampton beach is literally next to the famous Horseshoe Bay beach, but both beaches are great. The golf course has beautiful scenery, and one should not underestimate the par 3 of the course. The elevations make for tricky shots. The hallways and other neighbors were quiet for the most part, and the room service is on point. I'm definitely returning here when, not if, I come back to Bermuda. Oh, and the scuba diving lesson and experience were affordable and recommended.

Could have been 5 star if our room was better maintained. Room needed repair and balcony was filthy including the dust bunnies at the balcony door. Room is very big and comfortable with quality toiletries and well equipped. Majority of the team were very friendly and caring, from the concierge station to the shuttle drivers. Emaculate grounds and many options for dining. All were pretty good but the Jasmine lounge's food was the most disappointing. Good free live music entertainment by the hotel lobby. Will come again.

Attended a wedding here great staff. Great property, beach was beautiful. They provide shuttle to connect to buses so you can explore the island. The rooms are very well kept, comfortable beds. Would have given 4 stars but the the lobby and hallways needed a little updating...

This review is long overdue, my family stayed at this Fairmont years ago. The staff was amazing, especially housekeeping. Every night we came back to a spotless room and the ladies took extra care with my daughter's stuffed animals; lining them up along the bed. We had beach access to one of the most picturesque beaches in the world: horseshoe bay. I hope this hotel is able to open up in time for summer, we'd love to return.

We came here for a destination wedding. Most members of our group, including us, changed rooms because the views were not as promised. They placed us above a loud generator / water recapture system initially. The room was nice. The bed was very comfortable, but the shower liming was chipped in every room we saw in our group and the entire bathroom was in need of upgrading. We were misled about the inclusive continental breakfast. The staff won’t tell you what you can and cannot eat from the breakfast buffet until they charge you an additional fee per person for the upgrade each day. There are several hidden charges of about $70 per day that were never explained to us. Initially, we booked the room online on their website for a total of 6 nights for $1870.70. However, after the hidden fees, we were charged an additional $384 at checkout. Overall, the experience was nice and we had a great time. The beaches were beautiful and the workers were very nice. I just wish the hidden fees were initially explained to us at check-in.
