Perfectly seasoned, a little spicy, and insanely good. Next time, I’m skipping everything else and ordering nothing but shrimp. This place knows what they’re doing! 🍤🐟🍽️

Had a great experience at Surf’s Up Mount Prospect! I really enjoyed the fish and chips—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I also tried “Tha Bomb” and it absolutely lived up to the name—so good! The food came out hot and fresh, and the service was friendly and fast. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to when I’m craving seafood done right.

I've ordered Beach Feast to go for my family of 4. Well packaged and all I had to do was to toss entire package to oven to heat a little~ From outside it looks like a fast food place but it was a serious home cook style of food at a very good price. Because it was mid afternoon, I had chance to talk to nice and friendly owner herself about what they do. She invited me to see how food it prepared in kitchen that was nice and clean. I happen to be at the mall to stop in but I live far from this place, bummer.

very fresh food, very tasty, excellent amount, very friendly staff. I went with two friends and I had a birthday coupon, the new server did not know how to put the coupon, I said that is ok. But when I ordered extra dish, he waived the cost. What a generous gesture! I definitely will come back, my friends also said they will be back!

It’s a cute little restaurant with a few tables inside, window seats and along the wall. My fiancé and I order the Shrimp Po Boy and Lobster Po Boy, both fried of course. The food arrived crispy and hot and very very good. We really enjoyed the food and will definitely come back again.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience eating at this establishment! The food was very tasteful, the staff was great! We will definitely be back to eat here again! I’m a great cook and every thing I ate was top notch! We had catfish, collard greens, cheesy grits and buffalo chicken wings!

New orleans style, cajun flavor fried chicken and seafood in surburbs??? Sign me up!!! I love new orleans style food and its hard to find one in Chicago, let alone in surburbs. I got chicken and fish combo, with some potato and corn. All I can say is, it was delicious. It is made to order, so although I was only one in the restaurant, it took a while for food to come out. But it was hot, good seasoning and delicious. I say it is a bit expensive but its worth it. Main was great, sides can be better.

Surf's Up -- are you in Mt Prospect, or your favorite seaside shack by the water? Santa Cruz, Cocoa Beach, Cabo, Surfer's Point? The restaurant is small, with limited seating, but brightly decorated and immersive on the surf decor. I ordered the fish n chips, and they let me know it would be about 12 minutes, because they make everything fresh. No problema, dude. Beach Boys, surf music and other mellow tunes play overhead while you wait. It wasn't long at all, and I was presented with three (3!!!) crisply battered fish filets on a mound of seasoned shoestring fries. It was hot (prepared to order, remember), and delicious. The fries were awesome as well. I thought it was a little pricey, but the portions were large and I had plenty to take away. My fish was delish -- and I'd be glad to come back and try some of the other combos. The people who worked here were chill and friendly. Good vibrations!

I came here with my girlfriend for a quick lunch. I got the grilled shrimp po boy and she got the fish and chips. The food came out a bit slow but was incredibly fresh and the server was very nice and attentive. The shrimp was juicy and the poboy was perfectly seasoned. The fish was also crisp and light. The only downside was the fries weren't crispy. Overall, the seafood was quite good and for a pretty reasonable price. The decor was interesting, very colorful. It gives the feeling of a fast food restaurant by the beach.

First visit to this place close to home, the first of MANY. Need to keep this place thriving. Wow what a great spot. The Shrimp Po Boy was wonderful. Tha Bomb was an absolute home run. Fish and Chips were fantastic. The fries were seasoned and delicious. Food was hot, on time, and very nice people working here. Can't wait to visit again.

This little, unassuming restaurant should not be missed! Surf's Up in Mt. Prospect is conveniently located right next to the AMC Theater in Randhurst and this is the perfect place to grab a bite before the movies! This is a cute little restaurant with a few tables, window seats and seating along the wall. With the weather being nice there are tables outside too. Hubby and I wanted some seafood and we passed by Surf's Up a few times so it's long overdue for us to stop and try the food today. The owner, Lisa, was working behind the counter. She is so sweet and certainly very proud of her restaurant! We asked her for recommendations and she was happy to share some of the top preferred items of guests. She gave us time to look over the menu. I settled on the fried catfish dinner with a side of grits, greens & a roll. Hubby wanted fish and chips with a roll. Lisa told us that everything is made fresh to order so it would be about 15-20 mins. We weren't in any hurry, but we appreciated the heads up and the fact that it was all freshly made. The food arrived crispy and hot and oh so delicious! My catfish was so flakey. The grits and greens were the perfect sides to go with it. Hubs really enjoyed his fish and chips. The fries were so good, we couldn't stop eating them. Lisa also sold us on the fresh bread pudding, but we so full so we had to take it go. Just finished it tonight and it was even more delicious than she described! We will certainly be returning to try the shrimp po' boy and other items on her menu! Plus more bread pudding. Don't pass up this cute little place with delicious fresh seafood and desserts plus friendly service.

Flocked over here after many great reviews. Visited here on a Monday night, weather was perfect, sat out on the patio (car and people watched!) Didn't know what to get so got 2 mains: Crab Legs & Shrimp Combo (grilled shrimps). Time to get dirty! Glad I had no on-lookers while I ate, it was GOOD! I added some hot sauce to my butter draw, man o good! THA Bomb Sandwich, That lobster tail meat, o o o! Grilled big Cajun style shrimps were good too! I had a overload on shrimps, got it in both of my meals, I was stuffed!! Recommend: Order the Crab Leg dinner and THA Bomb sandwich so you're not overwhelmed with SHRIMPS! Or just order 1 main :) Food took about 15 minutes to cook up but time flew as the parking provided great entertainment. Even though we sat outside, follow-up service was on point! Note: I was caught digging in my food, butter dipping, shells flying, as customers were walking in :) Coming back.....

Great little place. Makes you feel like you are in a restaurant by the beach. Great food. Had the shrimp po boy. Shrimp was seasoned well and the fries were delicious. Wonderful service as well. Will be back soon

My friend and I both ordered po' boy sandwiches -- she had fried shrimp and I had grilled tilapia. We were both a little underwhelmed by the sandwiches -- they were fine, just didn't have much flavor. They came with enormous sides of fries that were pretty good, but my favorite part of our meal was the side of hush puppies we shared. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I didn't realize how tiny the place is until I ate in there. There are just two tables, and then some stools around countertops that face the windows. Both tables were occupied, so we sat at the counter. Not my preferred location, but it worked out OK. A big perk is that I'd purchased a $15 for $30 Local Flavor deal, so we saved $15 on our bill. Overall, I might try another dish here sometime if I had another coupon/incentive, but I'd be most likely to stop in for an order of hush puppies to go.

came across this place on google maps and decided to check it out! you order at the register and then they bring the food to you. i got the shrimp po boy with fried shrimp (grilled is the other option) and my husband got the fish and chips. i liked my po boy a lot! good amount of shrimp. the fries were also good and not soggy. i sampled my husband's and his was also good. not the best fish and chips i've had but it satisfies the craving! after we were done, we cleaned up and were on our way. the staff also seem very friendly. we'll be back for the next time we want seafood!

Small, clean, new looking building. The lady at the counter provided friendly southern hospitality. Good selection of menu items, and the prices are good as long it's high quality food. I had a grilled catfish po' boy. The fish was good but the ratio of fish to condiments is way off. It was served on a good toasted brioche bun. If I were along the Gulf Coast this would be just average. Considering I'm a long long way from the coast it's not bad. The friendly service raised it to four stars.

Had dirty rice, fried green tomato crab with corn red potatoes. They gave me a fresh sample of rice pudding. Very nice service. Dirty rice was good a little small for the price. Fried green tomato was excellent great spicy mustard sauce Crab was good either green butter and lemon. Lotta great flavor. Corn was not to good, could tell it was soggy. Everything else was pretty tasty The water pressure was weak and no warm water. . I ordered a drink but forgot to get it. So next time. Will be back and try some other things.

A fun and casual restaurant for a quick bite. My favorite dish was the fish n chips; the batter on the fish was light and flavorful. We also really enjoyed the shrimp as they were cooked perfectly. I believe it is a family owned business and they were lovely to talk to. Definitely recommend!

The food was excellent. I tried the triple combo with Fried Perch, Grilled Shrimp and chicken. The place was very clean. The bathrooms were clean and the employees were so welcoming and friendly. This is not fast food, it is made to order so have patience and it will be fresh and to your liking. The music was oldies from 50's and 60's. Just an overall pleasant experience. I would definitely go back and I do recommend this place to others.

Wow, I regret not trying this place sooner! This is right next to AMC in Randhurst with parking shared with the movie theater. My food was INCREDIBLE. I went with the 6-pc grilled shrimp, fries, cocktail sauce, and cole slaw. The quality was just AMAZING! Highly, highly recommend!!

The service was good but the food, the amount of food compared to the price is not good. Maybe other items on the menu may be good but what I got vs the $$ was not it for me. I feel I'm better off going to a seafood boil spot instead.

I feel like this place is slept on. Tasty, fresh made seafood. I've only had their grilled shrimp so far but it's fresh and well seasoned. Fries crisp. Bread pudding was so good with caramel topping. Folks are always friendly.

If I told you to eat this and tell you it's chicken sandwich you would believe me 100%. It was chicken gone bad with fishiness. The lobster was so over cooked. The corn on the cob was cold on one side and lukewarm on the other side. Flavor itself was nice, just the execution of the cooking was awful. Probably won't come again. Go get some Red Lobster instead

See their fried shrimp dinner with fries and onion rings. We both woke up middle of the night with extreme diarrhea. Something was bad in the food as we both had the Sam's symptoms st the exact same time Not ever going back

This location is not only for take out but you can also dine in. They have a good amount of seating. Since it's next door to AMC, you can park in the same lot. However, if you go at night for dinner, be prepared to drive around looking for closer spots. It didn't take long for the food to come out. I ordered Tha Bomb and chose my lobster tail and shrimp grilled. It came on a garlic brioche bun. The house made Surf Sauce was very tasty. No complaints about the grilled lobster nor the grilled shrimp, they were cooked beautifully. French fries were delicious, nice seasoning that wasn't overly salty. I had a taste of the dirty rice and I found it bland like they forgot to season it. Prices are typical for seafood in this State. Service was decent.

The owner is Very cordial, she cooks everything herself. The food is so fresh, delicious and priced very well. The food to me tastes just as good as fancy seafood restaurants. Not fancy just a small little place with a few tables dine in or carry out but the food is absolutely intoxicating...

Surf's Up is a fun, casual spot for seafood! Super friendly staff served us a fantastic fish and chips with a light and crispy batter on a generous portion of cod. Five stars. We have also tried their po boy sandwiches and tasty sides. I especially liked their cheese grits. All very good! They can also serve their seafood grilled if fried food is not your thing.

5 stars for Surf's Up - Mount Prospect. This location blows the Lockport location away. The food is excellent and is made to order so it's always fresh, but expect a 10-15 minute wait for your food. I recommend the 2 fish combo - you can either have it grilled or fried, the catfish was my favorite by far. The sides are decent sized portions. It's nice and quiet in the restaurant if you're dining in, the employees are very friendly, I'd recommend stopping in if you're in the mood for some seafood.

Great food. The best fish and great fried green tomatoes. Highly recommend. The place has some tables so not good for big crowds to seat and eat. Great take out spot.

The food was super good especially the doughboyz. The service was fantastic, very patient with me and my group, and just friendly overall. The ambience was very home feeling and nice.

I got cheesy grits and greens with turkey as sides. THE BEST GREENS EVER!!! These will make a stubborn child drop their uncrustable. Grits were smooth and creamy, never knew this could be attained. Was as if someone was practicing grit cooking for 25 years prior to making my side. Damn sun. They make some tasty ass food, and the lady that took care of me was so nice, my mood changed. Mind you, I was in 20 minutes before closing. Fish was on point, shrimp was perfect...fries were a little limp, but probably got wet from the tears of joy I shed. I hope my hood makes this place an institution. Old school good service, super clean spot. This is one of them places that should run for a hundred years.

Lovely little seafood place in MP. First off I would like to say that the owner and staff were so nice and generous. We decided to order online for pick up and they gave us a free fountain drink for doing that. Which was such a lovely addition The food all tasted delicious. It hit the spot and we will definitely be coming back again!

We ordered the Two Fish combo with wings, and theTriple combo with shrimp, catfish and wings, both we're tasty and delicious, it came with two sides, cheese grits, coleslaw, service was good over the phone and pick up was good, Place is by Randhurst mall that was previously occupied by a Subway. Overall, would recommend and try other stuff on menu.

For someone that grew up near the best fried chicken and fish shops the Southside of Chicago has to offer, this place is up there with them. My fellow coworker and I ordered the chicken and catfish combo, and oh man were we blown away!! Everything was cooked to order, it took around 15 minutes for the order to come out. The wings were seasoned to perfection, fried hard and extremely juicy. The 2 catfish fillets had this wonderful cornmeal breading, which was also seasoned extremely well, it felt like a crime to even use the mild sauce on it. And for some dessert, we ordered the bread pudding, a beautiful end to a delicious meal. The store was really bright with nice ocean colors and surfboards everywhere. This place is right next to the AMC movie theater, make it a must stop after or before your movie. Give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Wow! Just simply amazing! My son and I came in today to try something new and were blown away by the quality of food we got! Grilled Shrimp, 5 stars. Crab legs, 4.5 stars. Perch, 4 stars. Sides (red potatoes, dirty rice, corn on the cob), 5 stars! The Cajun spice they put on everything is just outstanding! Service was good as well. They are a "made to order" kind of place so if you order chicken (like we did) it'll take 20-ish minutes to make but the cornmeal crust on the chicken and fish was outstanding! If you are thinking about trying Surf's Up, do not hesitate to give them a run. Literally 5 stars!

The catfish & fried chicken are decent. The greens taste frozen. The dirty rice, & hushpuppies are bland. Somebody needs their whole a** kicked for these fries, no way they should have been served.

Based on reviews on this platform and another, decided to try the place. Food was definitely fresh and sides had nice flavor. We ordered two dinners, catfish and perch. The fish was fresh but it was overpowered by the excessive cornmeal coating. In fact, both fish dishes tasted pretty much the same, because the coating was way too heavy. I might consider going back if I was "in the neighborhood" but otherwise, this is a "one and done" for me.

The food here is amazing! I had a shrimp po'boy and the shrimp was big and juicy while the fries were thin and crispy. Very tasty and fresh. Will be back and highly recommend giving this place a try.

My family each has something different on the menu, and everything was delicious! I had the catfish tacos, which had a great flavor and perfectly friend. The po boy and dinners were also very good. I highly recommend!

A definite if you are in the mood for shrimp! The dirty rice, hush puppies and fried green tomatoes are a nice change from most restaurant menus. The grilled shrimp was large and tasty. The batter for the fried chicken seems to be the same for most of their fried items. Only reason it wasn't a 5 star rating is due to this restaurant not having enough space for its patrons to eat. There are 3 tables and some bar height spaces but it could use more indoor space for when the weather is not suitable. There are some tables outside but it was too cold out today to utilize them. I think we will go back to try other menu items when it's warmer out!

So fresh! We had the fish 'n chips, and everything was perfect. Breading isn't too heavy and is perfectly crisp. They had malt vinegar, hallelujah! Service was very attentive and friendly. You might expect a fish shop to have a strong smell, but this place was sparkling clean, with a light saltwater/mineral scent. Our leftovers lasted a good while in the fridge, which speaks to the freshness of the seafood. Housemade tartar sauce was top notch! We'll be back!

Wow wow wow!! We were thoroughly impressed with everything we ordered. Despite ordering as takeout, the food was NOT soggy by the time we get home because of the way they packaged their takeout. Fish and chips came with 3 large pieces that were flaky and moist. My shrimp and grits had great flavor, though I preferred the fish and chips. The sides were also amazing. Would love to come back to try more on the menu. Extremely great value for money imo for amazing quality food. Highly recommend!

Delish, high quality seafood at fair prices. We had the fish and chips and lobster po boy. The fries were excellent as in nicely seasoned, cooked crisp and not over or under done. The food is cooked to order and worth the wait to have well prepared. The seafood was sweet and juicy and not frozen. Glad to be able to have great food without having to buy a plane ticket to get quality. Will be back! Thank you for the great service.
