Google
It's really good... the soy marinated crabs are my favorite here. My colleague recommended the spicy one, it's good, but I like the soy one better. It's not really too spicy, just really saucy. The Gamjatang was great! And same with the military stew. We also ordered the Bossam/cabbage wraps which, in my opinion, are always delightful to have

Michelle N.

Google
We ordered an original raw crabs, seafood pancake and a beef broth cold noodles! The raw crabs was just soooo good, it tasted even better than in Korean to me, and the seafood pancake was also super delicious!!!! Definitely would recommend to people who love Korean food!! And the boss here was so nice!! Always with a smiley face and so gentle! ☺️☀️ The atmosphere were just so korean!! hahahha!! super recommended!!

Google
This place is such a cute family run restaurant. Everything we ordered was fantastic but the YangNyeom GeJang ( raw crab in spicy sauce) was the thing we came here for. It did not disappoint. The MukEunJi Jjigae was deliciously sour and savoury, you have to come here.

Google
My first time trying this place, and I really enjoyed it! We got the army stew and the spicy raw marinated crab to split amongst four people. The crab was especially delicious, with a nice spicy flavour (good if you like spice!). The service was excellent. The servers were really sweet. We also got seated very quickly and the food came pretty quickly after we ordered, even though the restaurant was full. The atmosphere is relaxed, like a small mom-and-pop store. It’s good for casual hang-outs with friends.

Google
Tasty spot for general korean food but especially for korean marinated crabs! They have a few other things on the menu too, all were tasty. Food was served quickly. Seating was decent. Tables can be a little closer to each other but adds to the mom-and-pop shop vibe. Seating itself otherwise is decently spacious. The staff was incredibly friendly, our tea was always filled and we were asked at least twice if we wanted our side dishes refilled!

Google
Delicious restaurant to get authentic Korean dishes and you also get to try the raw marinated crab! Definitely something to try! It’s a small family owned restaurant but it’s super cozy and staff is also super friendly!

Google
We got the soy sauce marinated raw crab and spicy raw crabs and both were very good, though we enjoyed the soy sauce crab a touch more. Loved the side dishes as well! Service was very attentive and kind without being intrusive. We were offered a disposable bib and wet wipes for when the eating got messy. Would come back again!

Google
Wow... this mom & pop restaurant has quickly been one of my top Korean spots. We went strictly for the raw marinated crabs, and I was very satisfied!! The owners are so friendly and does a thorough job making sure you have a good visit! Side dishes: very light flavours that compliment the main dishes very well (exactly what a side dish should be)

Yelp
Tucked away in a apartment at yonge and finch known for their korean food and especially their raw marinated crab not a lot of places to try them but this is one of the spots! dishes featured: - GangJang GeJang ( Raw Crab in Soy Sauce) $25.99 5/10 - YangNyeom GeJang ( Raw Crab in Spicy Sauce) $27.99 7.5/10 - SunDuBu JiGae $17.99 7/10 Personally my favourite was the Raw marinated crab in spicy sauce It was very flavourful but you definitely have to dig in there for the crab. Both the soy sauce and spicy sauce were pretty salty, so be prepared to drink lots of liquids when eating and when finished eating. Both came with purple rice which helped. The raw crab in soy sauce was very very salty, I would not get again. SunDuBu JiGae was good, but surprisely it wasn't that hot even in a stone pot and the flavour was lacking a bit. But, The owners were very nice and the restaurant felt very homey They also offer 10% discount for cash payment.

Yelp
This is the kind of incredible, local "hole in the wall" restaurant that I love discovering! I've probably passed by this restaurant so many times on my way to & from Finch TTC and would've never guessed that an authentic Korean restaurant would be located on the ground floor of a typical apartment building. From the retro vibes to walking past a large fridge unit at the entrance, I had a sense the food was going to be amazing if this restaurant has survived COVID and gained approval from an acquaintance of mine that was born & raised in South Korea. Portion sizes here are generous, and the flavours are on point! Plus, they serve up the best variety of side dishes I've seen yet! This spot is known for their marinated raw crabs (YUM!) and spicy braised monkfish (which my friend strongly convinced me to try). The monkfish was meaty, chewy, and soaked up that spicy sauce so well. When paired with crunchy bean sprouts over rice, mmm what a delight to eat! We found it amusing that the server advised us that the monkfish is quite a "Korean tasting dish" because they were concerned we wouldn't like it. Absolutely loved every bite! Not something I've seen on menus at other Korean restaurants I've been to. Their stone pot bibimbap was also delicious and so filling! They heated the pot up hot enough so that the rice as the bottom got super nice and crispy, just the way I like it :) JungSooNae does classic Korean dishes excellently, and I would definitely return!

Yelp
This is a cute little shop. Food was very authentic. The owners are very nice and cute. Service was amazing. Parking is annoying. I tried the raw crab... Um... I must say it definitely is not for me. But I am glad I tried it. It's good but the texture is what throws me off.

Yelp
I tried the C1. 간장게장 (GanJang GeJang) - $25.99. Two raw blue crabs marinated in JungSooNae's special soy sauce, served with rice. The sauce is incredibly flavorful and pairs perfectly with both the crab and the rice. Every bite was savory and satisfying. This was my first time trying raw marinated crab, and I was genuinely so happy with it. I'm already looking forward to going back. The only downside is that the portion felt a bit small. That's understandable since it's not currently crab season. I kind of wish they provided a crab tool for easier eating. I'm not sure if they have any, since I didn't ask, but one of those picks would be great to really dig in and get every bit. The service was also lovely. A grandma take your order and a grandpa brings out the food. They made the whole experience feel extra warm and homey. The restaurant is quite small, with space for about six groups. Parking is very limited, so I recommend using the lot by the passenger drop-off at Finch Station and walking over. It's only about a two-minute walk. If you haven't tried this and you're a fan of raw sea urchin, you should definitely give it a shot. It has that same rich, briny, melt-in-your-mouth kind of satisfaction.

Yelp
Operated by a pair of old lovely Korean couple! The menu is a little smaller than other restaurants, but they serve the rare "marinated crabs"! This is truly a hidden gem if you like marinated crabs! Unfortunately, I felt like their stews were more or the blend side. The environment is also very cozy and warm! Pro: They take credit card

Yelp
I recently got together with foodie friends over a good Korean meal at JungSooNae, near Yonge and Finch. It's a small family-run restaurant that was quite busy while we were there. We had come here to try one of their specialties, GanJang Ge-Jang, aka Raw Marinated Crabs. This dish has blue crabs marinated in a house special sauce and served raw. Yes, raw! Opinions were mixed, with some liking it and others undecided. I didn't try it due to an allergy that's been acting up lately. Other dishes included the always popular Pork Bone Soup, Bulgogi, Bossam, Seafood Pancake, a Cold Noodle Soup with Kimchi, and of course, all the delicious side dishes (kimchi, bean sprouts, purple rice, etc.) that come with it. Overall, it was good dinner and it's always good to dine with friends! Until next time...

Yelp
Quite literally a hole in the wall restaurant located under an apartment on Yonge St. We went there to celebrate another Yelper's birthday and the service wasn't terrible but we weren't treated well either. Our table ordered Bulgogi, Bossam, Marinated Soy Sauce Crab, Seafood Pancake and GamJaTang. The dishes made up for the service experience. Bossam was by far my favourite dish with the GamJaTang coming in second. The raw crabs were an adventurous pick for our table and to save people the trouble of ordering something they may not like. You'll need to eat them with your hands and squeeze the crab out and it tastes like crab flavoured sashimi.

Yelp
You need at least two bowls of rice to finish this soy marinated crab meal. It's salty buy yummy salty enough to make yoy eat a lot of rice. It's so called "밥도둑 bop do dook( carb pulling side dishes" Excellent cucumber salad as well! All the food for this meal was packed really well so there was no leakage while I traveled to carry for an hour.

Yelp
First time having raw crab. Cute small restaurant in North York. Came for dinner. It wasn't busy but it was full. We got a table almost right away. Looks like it's a family run place, the staff were amazing, very patient and kind. We were very indecisive of what to get etc etc. Honestly, the raw crab was worth the try but I don't think it was for me. I would come back for the other foods tho; it was delicious .

Yelp
Come here for the raw marinated soy crabs! A local restaurant that serves up hearty Korean food, especially known for their seasonal raw marinated soy crabs! The main reason I came to check this restaurant out! Came on a rainy weeknight with some friends and it was BUSY! I guess everyone else also had the same idea of eating the highly anticipated seasonal raw crabs. The restaurant is far from fancy but gets the job done with their delicious food. Dinner came with 6 complimentary banchans (side dishes) to go with the meal. And now onto the food review: GanJang GeJang (Raw marinated soy crabs): 10/10 D e l i c i o u s ! It's sweet, crabby and pairs well with a warm bite of rice. There isn't much to eat from these crabs as they are small but packed with flavour. The shell of the crab is filled with roe, make sure you scoop some rice into the shell and mix it all up, it's so good! As for the body of the crab, you really just squeeze out all the meat with your fingers and enjoy! I usually don't bother eating the legs since it's too much work for such little reward (haha!) ChikMoolNaengMyeon, Cold noodle: 8/10 Your standard cold noodle in an icy broth that is chewy and refreshing. This is usually a must for me since I love all things cold! Vinegar and mustard comes on the side for you to add into your bowl if desired. Bossam: 7/10 Boiled pork belly meat with boiled cabbage. Image eating this like a wrap with some rice. It's good, but definitely had it better at other restaurants. I've also had this dish with a salty fish dipping sauce at other restaurants but seemed to have nothing to dip this in here. Flavour was standard and nothing special, but still a nice dish to get. ChulPan GalbiJjim: 8/10 Beef ribs on a sizzling plate drenched in a sweet sauce. It was fall off the bone tender, packed with flavour from the sweet, thick and sticky sauce and great for sharing and eating with rice. Budae Jjigae (Army Stew): 8/10 Can never go wrong with an army stew that is boiling on your table with all the hearty ingredients. Salty, spicy and heart warming broth to finish off the meal. They serve italian salami pieces in their army stew which was a surprising/ different touch to the traditional stews. Come here for the crabs! It's a must for the summer!

Yelp
Came here specifically to try raw marinated crab as they are one of the only Korean restaurants in Toronto to serve this delicacy. I'm not sure what the previous reviewer experienced, but the older gentleman who served us was extremely attentive and friendly. The interior was simple and plenty of seating was available when we arrived. We ordered the Ganjang Gejang and YangNyeom Gejang (soy and spicy marinated crab, respectively). Each order came with two crabs, and were on the smaller size in terms of portion, especially for the price of $26-28. We also got the WuMuKongGuk (agar-agar noodles in cold ground soybean broth), which the server asked if we were certain we wanted, explaining that it is essentially flavourless. I had seen this dish in Korean shows and was very excited to see it on the menu. The crabs arrived with a portion of purple rice each, and some disposable gloves to reduce the mess of eating with our hands. Both marinades were absolutely delicious - the soy had a rich umami and sweet taste, while the spicy sauce kept you coming back for me. The cut of the soy crabs were much easier to break apart and squeeze out the meat, whereas the spicy version was cut across the body and required more technique to get past the shell. When mixed in with the rice, the creamy texture made each bite heavenly (despite having to work hard to achieve said bite). The soybean noodles were the perfect compliment as the soy marinade from the crabs could be used to the season the dish (instead of the salt provided on the side). At the same time, the rich and nutty cold broth helped to cut the spice when needed. The agar agar noodles gave the dish a crunchy texture and acted as a sponge to soak up the thick creamy broth. The server also came back a few times to check that we enjoying the dishes and was pleased we were happy with the WuMuKongGuk. While dining, we noticed some large family-sized hot pot and stew dishes ordered by a table next to us. I will definitely be back to try their spicy pollock hot pot (serves 2 people) next time.

Yelp
Considering they're he only place in thE GTA that makes soy marinated crab, you'd think they'd be humble about it except they're not. They market themselves as this family style, small own shop which makes sense but they horribly rude. I've ordered twice for take away. First time I dropped by, placed my order and waited. The lady who took my order dead eyed looked at me and said 'you eat raw crab?' I said yes and left it at that. She continued to say 'not many people like you eat raw crab' I guess people like me meaning of African decent. To be expected I guess. The second time was 3 days ago via the Uber app for pickup. I was told my order was ready so I walked over. The restaurant had maybe 7 people inside. Another lady was adamant I needed to confirmation number via the Uber app. I tried explaining to her that I'm not a delivery person but I personally order myself meaning there's no code. It's under my name. After several minutes, she handed me my order and I left. My spicy crab wasn't too spicy which was unfortunate.

Yelp
I really liked how the place looked like a hoame kitchen instead of a formal restaurant. This restaurant was at the main floor of an apartment building I believe. I came here by car and parked at the back of the building which was complementary parking. This place has been on my to go list for a while because the raw marinated crabs seem to be a huge hit. So I ordered a dish as well as the pork bone soup. The raw marinated crabs were $30 for two crabs, and it had a gooey sort of texture and it was nicely flavoured with soy sauce. However I felt that the meat was sticking to the crabs. It was a very unique experience and I think I wouldn't order it again and would come back for just the pork bone soup. I really enjoyed the sides and the flavours of the pork butt soup so I was very happy with my meal. I paid $19 for the pork bone soup.

Yelp
The first time I tried the raw crab and felt impressive from the decoration to the taste. Certainly will come again

Yelp
The employees in the restaurant were very rude to my friend and I. There were two in the restaurant and two were quite rude. We came to the restaurant to order marinated raw crabs, of course the banchan side dishes were served first. Culturally, banchan side dishes are always refillable in traditional Korean restaurants. With no other customers, they refused to refill our banchans. Frankly, this behavior disgraced the Korean culture, mistreated the customers, and should not be seen in the restaurant or any other service industry. The food were way overpriced with mediocre quality but did not matter anymore after all.

Yelp
NOTE: This review is mainly for the raw crabs I've had a couple of their other food items, but it really didn't stand out to me. BUT the crabs were what got me. They were amazing. It was orgasmic. If I go there again, I would probably just get the crab and nothing else. The crab was easily 5/5. I highly recommend their soy sauce marinated crab over the spicy sauce. The spicy sauce was good, but their special soy sauce just brings out the flavor of the crab a lot. And I'd also say the price was good for the amount of crabs too.

Yelp
A nice neighbourhood restaurant My husband and I want to have a meal and we saw this place. it is right beside the car parking lot at finch station. It is a family restaurant that is at the 1st floor of a condo building. due to covid, we were sitting at the outside tent. i just ordered regular pork bone soup and my husband order the korean beef soup. it was a good family meal. it were summer and we were outside, so there are some bugs. pay with cash and you will get discount.

Yelp
We were craving for a hot fresh korean soup, so we visited Jung Soo Nae's patio. The patio is specious and airy. There are some heaters around the tables to keep us warm. Each table maintains a good distance from others. Due to Covid, we filled in a health questionnaire and had our temperature checked. Side dishes and rice came in one-time container, but the main dish and soup were served in regular stone bowls which was great to maintain the temperature. Food tastes great as usual and tastes like home made. We enjoyed the lunch very much. Jung Soo Nae for sure is our go to place for Korean food.

Yelp
My go to place for raw marinated crabs in North York. A cute mom and pop run shop with a family type of ambiance. Usually quite busy but the wait isn't too long. The side dishes, especially the acorn jelly are so unique and not something you get elsewhere (aka not the stereotypical kimchi). A short walk from Finch station and worth the trek to try it if you're not from the area!

Yelp
Alright so I decided to come back despite my below average experience two years ago.. and was pleasantly surprised! The quality of their food and service improved a lot compared to my last visit and I am actually glad my friend convinced me to come back here! Finch Jung Soo Nae is located on the first floor of an apartment building right next to Finch station (I parked there and walked over - its super cheap!!) We ordered the raw crabs in the soy sauce marinade and spicy sauce again.. much, much better than time. Though the crabs were still small in size there was more meat and the soy sauce marinade was a lot more savoury and enjoyable! The raw crabs in spicy is my favourite as I enjoy spicier foods but honestly I'd still get both when I come back LOL We also tried the table top stir fry baby octopus in spicy sauce! BOMB AF!!!! So flavourful and SPICYY just the way I like it. If your spice tolerance isn't too good you might struggle with this because my friends were dying LOL I love that Jung Soo Nae included rice cakes in this dish too!! Can definitely see why this is one of their top dishes. Service was also a looooot friendlier this time - last time the servers would only talk to us if we needed something, they didn't even say thank you after we paid LOL but now they were a lot more pleasant. They were smiling more and engaging in conversations with customers, and even say you're welcome now!! Its not much but it makes a huge difference in setting the tone of all their guests' visits. The older gentleman is sooo sweet :( Kept refilling my friends' water because they were dying LMAO I guess some restaurants do deserve second chances! Will definitely be back again and will recommend for anyone looking for bomb-diggity korean food!!!

Yelp
Authentic korean marinated crab dish. The atmosphere isn't fancy at all but the food itself makes the whole dining experience pleasurable and want to keep come back. If you are wondering if you should try or not, then I recommend you to try for sure! For that authentic experience!

Yelp
Have you heard of Korean raw soy marinated crab? The only time I had this was in Seoul many moons ago and enjoyed it. I've long hard about Jungsoonae and their famous raw crabs. Raw marinated crab: The flavors were okay but I found the soy sauce pretty salty. 2 marinated crabs with small amounts of roe ended up being like $18 (while at the grocery store you can get a whole pound of them for $6) Beef bone cabbage soup: I saw this recommended in a few reviews. The broth was very light and needed some salt but the main thing was the beef wasn't fall-off-the-bone tender as I would have liked. Donkatsu with cheese: This reminded me of a large pork nugget with cheese in the middle. It wasn't what I was expecting and the pork was too lean Stir fried pork and kimchi: We usually like this when the pork is juicier/fattier and theres more oil/sauce to spoon over some rice. However this was pretty dry. I think I'll stick to having Korean delicacies in Korea and just having the regular staples here in Toronto
google avatar

Chlooe C.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favourite restaurants as it gives of homey vibes as offers authentic Korean dishes! They are also one of the only two restaurants (that I know of) that sells marinated crabs. Marinated Crabs ($24.99): I really enjoyed their marinated crabs. The flavour was slightly on the saltier side but to my liking. The crabs were packed with roes. Note that the crab claws are not pre-cracked. Seafood Pancake ($22.99): This is a must if you are looking for a shareable dish. The pancake is packed with seafood and it's well flavoured! Roast Pork Shoulder ($22.99): Tender meat and tasty sauce but nothing too special.

Yelp
I stopped by this place because I really wanted to try the soy raw marinated crab and it did not disappoint! This is very much a mom and pop type of place and it was full on a Friday night around 6:30 but the wait was not too bad for one person. The staff are very friendly and although there's some wait to the food given that again they are doing everything and don't have a ton of staff. The crab was so delicious and I loved the colorful dishes. The banchan is refillable and it was a pretty memorable meal.

Yelp
A couple of years ago, I came and visited @finchjungsoonae This is an authentic Korean restaurant in North York. They are well-known for their marinated raw crabs. This time I wanted to try something different called CheolPan JjooGgooMi BokEum. In this stew, you have baby octopus and Veggies: beansprouts, watercress), rice cake in spicy sauce cooked on the table. The portions are huge it is shareable for 2 or 3 friends/family. Comes with rice and side dishes. Close to the end, the staff will help you to stir-fry the rice into the pan. This is pretty unique. If you are a spicy lover, you can't go wrong with this stew. Also, we added HaeMui PaJeon aka Seafood pancake. Gotta dip it into the sauce for more delicious flavour. What are your favourite Korean dishes? . . Note: Patios are available!
google avatar

Elaine L.

Yelp
This is my go-to place in Toronto for marinated raw crabs. Here you can order them in Jungsoonae's special unique soy sauce or in a hot spicy sauce. Although both are extremely tasty and flavourful, if you're unable to tolerate spice like me, I'd recommend sticking with the soy. On my first visit here, I was taught by the restaurant Manager the best way to enjoy this blue crab dish is to spoon some rice into the shell and mix it together with the delicious orange roe before taking a spoonful. On this visit, we also ordered the spicy pork and kimchi stir fry and the seafood pancake. Being married into a Korean family, I can attest everything here is delicious and tastes just like 'eomma' (mom) makes it. Added tip: There is free parking available at the back of the building. Spots #1-9 are reserved for customers. Also available are any #20s, #30s, and #40s with no 'no parking' sign.

Yelp
Cute Korean restaurant about 3-5 min walk from Finch Subway station. Tip: exit through the passenger pickup area of Finch station if you're walking, that's the closest exit to the restaurant. I came here specifically to try their Ganjang Gejang (raw blue crab marinated in soy sauce), it seems that they might be the only restaurant that serves this dish in Toronto, that I could find and know of. There is a very slight fishy smell when I sniffed it, which is expected since it's raw crab, but when I was eating it, I didn't find it fishy at all, it was really delicious. The crab roe was soft and rich, the meat was smooth and fresh, everything went really well with the rice. I can see why this dish is called a rice thief now. I was really tempted to order another bowl of rice but on account of my diet I stopped myself. I would definitely try this dish again. I also ordered the kimchi stew and my friend got a spicy beef soup. Although it was not as outstanding as the Ganjang Gejang, Both were delicious and portions were good. The side dishes were good as well. Not sure if there's free refills or not since we didn't ask for any. The service was good, it's a smaller shop, seems like it's family owned. People were doing multi jobs so if you wanted more tea or something you have to ask them, they do really try to check up you though and would walk around once in awhile to refill your tea and see how you're doing. Overall a good dining experience, I would come back to try their raw crab. However if I was just going out for Korean food then I may not specifically go out of my way to come here since although the other dishes were good, it's not super outstanding. Aside from indoor dining they also have outdoor dining, there's a big white tent outside, they provides pretty good shelter, there's also hanging lights out there, really cute set up. We dined inside though since it was windy.

Yelp
Terrible service - No smile, bad attitude. It's almost like they don't want you to be there - Discrimination 1. We asked for Banchan refill and they only let us get 3 (out of 6), while the Korean customers next to us got EVERYTHING refilled (we are not Korean and don't speak the language) 2. Our friend also noticed their service and attitude were way better towards their Korean customers, much better tone of voice with smile all over their faces Awful foods - Soy raw crabs were WAY saltier than other places I have had. Also they're not cleaned well as I felt sand in my mouth - Beef broth cold noodles was NO beef flavors at all. It's sour and over priced ($19.9 for a bad noodle dish with disgusting veggies and no meat) Conclusion Do NOT come!!! There are way more Korean restaurants and other raw crab places (the service and crab quality at other Jung Soo Ne I went to on Steeles was slightly better - I'm not sure if they belong to the same company)

Yelp
I love KOREAN food. If anyone knows me, I usually pick between Japanese, Korean or Middle Eastern food when making reservations. A little further north is this lovely family run restaurant by the name of @finchjungsoonae and it was FANTASTIC! I learned the proper way of eating BOSSAM (steamed sliced pork) and it was using my hands instead of a fork and knife! Thanks to @shopify , @finchjungsoonae has created a brand new website which allows customers to view the menu in completely contactless way ass well as order from various delivery companies straight to your home. Yelp
We came here specifically for their raw marinated blue crabs. I've never tried this delicacy before, and it's an acquired taste. I felt it was OK, but then we have one piece leftover and brought it home. I think the taste is growing on me, as eating the leftover was more delicious, in my opinion, than when we ate it fresh. We also ordered their seafood pancake and it was amazing! Nice size, light and fluffy, good quality seafood ingredients. We plan to order this every time we come here. Lastly, we shared their kimchi fried rice with an egg on top. This was an A+ dish. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Delicious right to the last bite. Other reviewers mentioned that service is bad here. We felt their service was acceptable, though their English language skills are very limited. However, these nice Korean workers speak Mandarin so you can speak to them in Mandarin if you wish. This is not like Sushi AYCE places that have fake Japanese people who are actually Chinese and speak Mandarin. These are legit Koreans speaking Mandarin, if that matters to you. This restaurant is on the floor level of what appears to be a ghetto apartment building. I don't know where to park here, and the staff didn't know how to articulate and answer to me, so I ended up parking illegally and prayed for the best. Overall, COME FOR THE FOOD. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
The star of their menu is the marinated raw crab. The crabs they use have lots of creamy roe. The sweet soy marinade gets fully absorbed into the meat and is amazing with some plain rice. The gooey raw crab takes a bit of work to eat but is well worth it, especially if you love raw seafood. All the other items on the menu we tried were also delicious. The baby octopus cooked table side was very tender, a mix of wonderful textures when eaten together with the smoky crunchy bean sprouts and chewy rice cakes. The fried yellow croaker had very delicate meat inside golden fried skin, and the side dishes, kimchi fried rice, and seafood pancake were all well made. They have two locations and this one is on the bottom of an old apartment building with 9 parking spots in the back. The outside feels a little sketchy, but once you step in, you will feel right at home in the cozy shop. The servers mainly speak Korean, and some of them speak mandarin, but not much English.

Yelp
One of the things I miss most about Seoul is one of their famous streets known for restaurants that specialize in ganjang gejang! Jung Soo Nae is the only restaurant I know that serves this dish in the GTA, and although it's not comparable to the ones I tried in Korea (in flavour, quality of crab, & value), it was still delicious! The crabs are really salty so I highly recommend mixing the crab meat with rice. Their other dishes were also yummy - our party ordered bossam and two types of kimchi jiggae (original & one with really fermented kimchi). Side dishes were lovely and refillable, and service was friendly. Overall, I would go back if I'm ever craving ganjang gejangs!

Yelp
I cannot deny the fact that the raw crab is so tasty. But I've been to this location twice, the first time was a tea time and I was going with a friend, thought we can only share a raw crab set (the restaurant is not busy). Yet the owners didn't seems nice and not allowing us to order one set. We asked for water refill in between but it took a thousand years for us to get a water review. The second time was today. I called to order a raw crab set, and the one who picked up the phone doesn't sound friendly (but I understand since it's dinner time). Yet when I picked up the take-out, the boss simply ignored me when I went into the restaurant until a lady came and helped me. P.s.: my Korean friend said their service is FABULOUS, but as a non korean I really don't feel they have any services at all...

Yelp
Came here for the raw crab, ordered the spicy crab and the soy sauce crab and it wasn't bad. It was my first time trying it and I guess I expected it to taste better. The spicy crab was a really nice strong flavor like what Korean pepple use to pickle kimchi but sweeter and umami flavor from the crab. I wish they provided the metal cracker, I couldn't bite the claws. I did not want to risk chipping a tooth or breaking my retainers. Hmm not sure it was for me, but maybe one day down the road, I could give it another chance.

Yelp
Great place for raw marinated crab! It was amazing, crab is very fresh, idk what kind of crab it is, but shell is kind of hard so you have to bite hard, but otherwise it's good crab a lot of meat. If you are eating for the first time I would recommend the soy instead of spicy. Spicy sauce is great but a little overwhelming so it overpowers the taste of fresh crab. Definitely try! $24.99 for two crabs is amazing deal

Yelp
It's a small restaurant located just beside Finch station. First things first, I found the service to be great - we were greeted, seated and served smoothly and promptly. I found the servers to be very pleasant, not at all like the other reviews I've seen. Anyways, I came here to try the raw crab. The soy sauce marinated raw crab is $15.99 for two crabs, which I thought was pretty fair for what we got. 3/4 of the plates we ordered came out super fresh. It's almost like eating a raw egg, the gooeyness of the crab meat and the creaminess of the crab roe - it was SO good and I enjoyed mixing it into a bowl of hot rice. We also ordered the bossam (29.99), which was pork belly cabbage wraps with kimchi and I can't describe it better than to say, man you should've seen face light up after that first bite! Lastly, we ordered the beef ribs ($18.99). It came in a sweet sauce but what really impressed us was that it was fall of the bone soft. The food at this restaurant is really delicious, and the service is good. I think the price is fair for what you're getting and compared to other places in Toronto.

Yelp
I came here specifically to try out the marinated blue crab, it was okay. The spicy version would have been better I'd say to mask the iron taste a little more. Plus, it wasn't as sweet as I'd prefer, but the side dishes were good. The seafood pancake on the other hand was mainly mouthfuls of green and regular onions. It was good up until the surprise chunk attack.

Yelp
Went here for my friend's birthday. I just love this small but warm restaurant. It's a hidden restaurant near Finch station (under/next to an apartment) and it's small so if you come here during their rush hour, good luck having a seat. The staffs are friendly. The old man can speak better English and he was very nice. We asked for iced water and he asked if we want cold tea. When he had nothing to do, he started to clean every leaf of the tree they have for decoration. The lady couldn't speak English very well but she was very friendly. After helping us with the grilled octopus, she looked at me and pointed at the it.I think she tried to tell me that: "The octopus is ready you can eat it now." We order crab soup and grilled octopus. Their serving size is huge!!! Their crab soup was very good and spicy!!! It was also perfect for such a cold day during spring (almost summer). Although crabs were small but they were still very tasty. Grilled octopus came with rice cake, and bean sprouts. It was really flavourful!! We love the kimchi and fish cake. We kept having those two refilled :p The price is reasonable for the portion size. I was impressed with their washroom. It's super duper clean! VERY CLEAN! Even though the restaurant is small, it's warm and very welcoming and friendly. I know it's weird but I felt like I actually was invited to a Korean friend's house to try their food. I will definitely come back here to try more food. Plus, I will definitely recommend this place to whoever wants good Korean food with friendly service.

Yelp
Came here to specifically try the Gejang (raw crab), and I was impressed. As one of the few restaurants to serve this, and the famed dead person soup, 4 stars. The rarity and specialization alone warrants high ratings. In terms of atmosphere, think homey and no frills. Nothing fancy here.

Yelp
Came here for the raw crab( as per requested by my sister) service was not good. I even felt a bit discriminated just cuz i was not speaking korean. (E.g koreans who came in after us got their water the second they got in, while me and my sister are still waiting.) Btw the second they saw me typing this post they served us tea lmao. Overall food was pkay. Wouldn't come back though

Yelp
This's a long overdue review!! What an amazing experience every time ordering with them. Not only with outstanding foods but with customer service as well!!!! I live in downtown so have to arrange time and suitable food orders for delivery, and the whole team is so patient and takes care of me and my orders so much. Pretty much to the personal service service. If I order something that they are out of, they suggest even better options!! Thank you so much. Also such a feast when eating your amazing foods!!!! Keep it up!

Yelp
We went there for lunch based on the great reviews. What a let down! The food was at most mediocre, item prices were higher than most other Korean restaurants and the service was pretty bad. Each item is around the $15 mark, my cold noodle tasted so bland, one of the worst I've ever had. There were 2 ladies working while we were there, one was okay but the other lady was so rude! She came over and without asking, poured cold water into our hot tea cups. She then started yelling foreign language at us expecting us to understand, it took me like 10 seconds to process, (since I don't speak Korean) and figured out she was actually speaking Mandarin to us, but in a very rude way, just yelling "are you done?" And wanted to clean our table. At the time, we still have half of the food we had ordered on the table, no one was waiting to be seated or anything (it was 2pm in the afternoon). oh and the raw crab, they told us there were sold out on the soy one despite we went there when they just open, so we ordered the spicy one. It's a very small plate of carbs in a lot of sauce that you can barely taste the crab. For $20, we feel like it doesn't not justify the price. Overall, pretty disappointing experience. Will definitely not return.

Yelp
I've eaten here so many times since its opening, I can't believe I haven't written a review. I come here for Jip-bob (home cooked style meal) style meals with lots of banchans and yes, their "dead-body" soup. The infamous Korean "dead-body" soup a.k.a. Chung-gook-jang, was so named because of the intolerable aroma of the fermented soy bean cake (not the same thing as Ddoen Jang, people) that this soup is made from. It is definitely an acquired taste and a dish with many haters vs. followers. Jung Soo Nae is one of the only restaurants in Toronto that actually serve up the "dead-body" soup properly without the stench of the wrongly-prepared one. I'd say Jung Soo Nae is the most authentic Korean food I've come across in Toronto and I hope they stay around for many more Jip-bob meals to come for me. Only thing I really dislike about this place is the location and parking. But for their food, I'm willing to brave both every once in a while.

Yelp
There's no parking at the back of the business anymore, it's strictly tenant parking. The closest parking is Finch Station, you will have to walk 5-10 minutes depending on how far you parked.

Yelp
I used to love this place but the quality went down a lot. I ordered bossam dish and radish kimchi was old. It was awfully salty. I am kinda disappointed and not sure if I want to come back

Yelp
This place has korean raw crab "Ge-Jang" that is one of my absolute favorites. I always come here for their raw crabs. This place is located at yonge and finch- it's a small little restaurant below an apartment building. Price for dinner is pretty decent for the amount and quality of the food that you are getting. I only gave a 4 star due to the service- i find that service is not very consistent with the staff at this restaurant. Overall, you must try the raw crab if you do come to this restaurant !!! It's so good that i come back once every little while :)

Yelp
Authentic, homestyle, diverse menu with many options. This little restaurant is kind of shaped like an apartment; because it is. Short on seating but large on quality,we will be coming back here for sure. Had the moon ah shared hot plate. It was so fresh and flavourful. One of the best we've had in K town thus far. Homestyle Korean at it's best. Try this dish if you don't go for the blue crab. The menu is far more diverse than most Korean restaurants which sets it apart.

Yelp
After bugging my bf to come here for months so I can try their infamous soy sauce marinated crabs, we finally went yesterday evening! We were quickly seated by who I think was one of the owner and I remember other yelpers mentioned that the owner and servers were quite rude. I felt a bit of that rudeness when my bf asked the owner how good the crabs were because he's never had them here in Toronto and the owner answered they're the best in Toronto. I don't speak Korean but you can tell by the tone of her voice. It was just an innocent question..geez. I guess she's moody 24/7. Anyway, our side dishes came fairly quickly as well as our food. The crabs came first, and immediately I saw how small they were. These were blue crabs in soy sauce and there were two cut in half. The best part is mixing the crab with rice, and I made sure to scrape everything off. Delicious! There's not a lot of meat with the other part but you won't taste any fishiness because it's been marinated well. My bf said the soy sauce marinated crabs taste the same if you were to eat it in Korea. We also shared a ground soybean stew, and that was alright. Overall, I'd say it's good to come try the raw crabs at least once because they are quite pricey! But beware of the owners/servers although we had no problem with the server.
