Shibuya BEAM

I recently visited Shibuya BEAM during my trip to Tokyo, and it was such a fun and energetic spot right in the heart of Shibuya. Just a short walk from the famous crossing, the building stands out with its bold signage and lively atmosphere. Inside, I found a great mix of trendy shops, entertainment floors, and awesome food options. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend hours exploring different levels. I especially loved how each floor had its own vibe — from gaming and pop culture to cozy restaurants where you can relax after walking around the city. What makes Shibuya BEAM special is its youthful, vibrant energy. It feels very “Tokyo” — bright, busy, and full of personality. If you’re exploring Shibuya and want somewhere fun to shop, eat, or just soak in the modern city atmosphere, I’d definitely recommend stopping by.

Nice small mall for fans of music and manga

We visited here to go to the Shibuya Mandrake store to pick up a few souvenirs and manga for ourselves. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. The store is packed to the brim. The store is very difficult for foreigners with good Japanese skills to navigate on their own, but any time we asked for help, not only did they help us immediately, but they took us directly to where we needed to go.

The best record store in Shibuya ... definitively better than the other ones visited. A paradise for vinyl diggers . Vinyl perfect and prices reasonable

It was cool to see this place after having all of the music shops in the states close down. Tons of music to choose from a long with odd soundtracks and forgotten albums. Their discount was awesome too on their used CD's. Managed to save a ton of money when buying stuff through their ¥100 yen crate. Honestly, the majority of stuff I bought I had never heard before, I simply wanted to be surprised, regardless if it sounded good or not.

RecoFan maybe my favorite record store in the world. If I have to compare the store with another, it would be Amoeba Hollywood. It's like a smaller version of Amoeba, but an incredible selection of used and new vinyl as well as CDs. This is an excellent location if you are trying to find that obscure British band or artist's second album type of place. Also, a wonderful selection of Japanese pop music of all sorts is here as well. The mind-blowing section is their 45 rpm records. Singles from all over the world, but you can find vintage Japanese releases of the Walker Brothers here as well as various Beatles singles released in Japan. And most of them are in the 300 yen, or $3. The store is not expensive, and you can find great deals here. For sure, it's worth a few hours or more to check out this wonderful store. I have many albums in my collection that came from RecoFan Shibuya.

The only thing that keeps this store from a 5 star rating is the lack of organization. Even so - the staff has been pretty helpful to me. Look for the tall thin guy with shoulder-length curly hair. He speaks decent English and knows exactly where to find everything in the store. Also be sure to dig through all of the new arrival bins. You can find a bit of everything there. I've gotten so much good stuff from this place, and actually the lack of organization has helped me stumble upon some excellent records I wouldn't have otherwise known anything about. Be sure to bring your passport because this is one of the few record stores in Tokyo that is tax free when you spend more than 10,000 Yen!!
