"Family-Owned Gem There's always a wait at this family-run mainstay which serves a bevy of Southwestern winners a la the shrimp burritos and carne adovada (red chile–marinated pork) and chili. A trip here is best summed up as friendly, prompt and delicious. Park a seat outside on the patio when the weather cooperates."

We arrived before opening time, 10:30 on a rainy Saturday. 3rd to be seated yet the restaurant filled up quick. Efficient and attentive staff with water refills and finished plates cleared. We enjoyed the Grilled shrimp & relleno combo with green chile-deeelicious! and the blue corn beef tacos. The relleno is fried to a crisp, filled with ooey gooey cheese and remains crisp, not soggy. The posole is flavourful alongside the beans. The restaurant isn’t as tiny as reviewers say. One WC in the back next to the itty bitty kitchen pushing out incredible plates! Cash forward or a 2.5% credit card fee. Worth the wait & Enjoy!

Orlando's is a not so big or roomy place to dine but honestly, when the food is served quickly and it's good... Who cares! If you don't mind the closeness and the wait time then make your way to Orlando's. It's worth the trip and the wait. After a 50 minute wait we were finally seated. Started off with a couple of Sangria's. That was good. Afterwards the wife ordered the queso and chips. Queso was good. Our server was efficient and quick as well as pleasant and attentive. Wifey went with the Combo Plate and I chose The Smothered Shrimp Burrito. Wifey was forking her dish like as if she was digging for gold and I was busy trying not to share my meal with anyone. Our meals were on point. The posoles (they don't serve rice here) were nice and soft with good flavor. Plenty of shrimp huddled together in my burrito. Wifey just kept digging in. Then, it was dessert time. I'm a flan guy. The lady at the table next to me was enjoying a flan dish, so I asked... "How's the flan?" Her response, "oh it's good!" So you know the rest. Wifey ordered a brownie cake and I Da Flan. Capped the dinner off with dynamite sweetness and out we went into the night with big smiles and inflated waistlines. They're opened for dinner from 5 to 9 so get there no later than 4:30 if you want a seat with the first rounders or you'll have a 45 minute minimum wait time. A 5🌟 Experience!

Google
Best Mexican food in Taos. It was recommended by our campground host. I had a chimichanga, incredible! My husband had the tamales, fabulous! We also tried their avocado lime pie…awesome!

Google
There’s no denying that Orlando’s is a popular go-to for both locals and tourists. There was a long line waiting to be seated as the restaurant opened for the evening, and the host did a nice job of maintaining a smooth flow. Service was good, out on the packed patio, and it’s an inviting place to relax. The food is a bit average — no exceptional dishes, the night we dined there — and it doesn’t do justice to northern New Mexico’s distinct flavor profiles, despite its claim of having recipes passed down through generations. Still, it’s a fun place for a hearty meal on the northern outskirts of Taos.

Google
Recommended by friends on our first trip to taos. Took a few trips to make it when it was open but finally went. Got the combination plate and it was the most delicious plate of food I've had in a long time. The wait was long (~40 min) but they were serving alcohol while we waited outside by the fire pit. The wait was not bad at all once we ordered a drink and started hanging out. Hands down some of the best food in Taos.

Google
The service was friendly and fast. We had fish tacos and frito pie. The fish tacos were very solid ly prepared but a bit boring flavor wise. I did enjoy them and would order them again. My companion said his meal was nearly flavorless, very boring. The guacamole and salsa were good. The red chile was much better than the green chile. The iced tea was very watered down. Plenty of parking. If you eat outside it can be really nice but traffic from the road is loud.

Google
Orlando’s is an absolute gem for anyone craving delicious Mexican food. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, perfect for a casual meal or a fun night out. We tried the chicken fajitas and the Taos burger — both were exceptional! The flavors were bold, fresh, and perfectly cooked. But the real star of the show? The fries. Hands down the best fries I’ve ever had — so good that I had to order an extra side just to keep enjoying them. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. Great service, great vibe, and even better food!

Google
While visiting Taos we stumbled across this busy little restaurant and decided to stop… so glad we did!!!!! This was a local and tourist favorite! We met many friendly people while waiting for our table and once seated we found the atmosphere to be inviting, had great service, the food was delicious and prompt, and we enjoyed every bit of it!!! Delicious chili relleanos!!! Would absolutely recommend and return 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Yelp
Wow, what a treasure. Orlando's was recommended by the owner of the inn where we stayed, and he was spot on. Orlando's was incredible. We stopped in for lunch after exploring Taos, and it was exactly what we were craving. We were seated outside on the patio, and the service was done with a smile, great recommendations and friendliness. Mr. B ordered the special enchiladas, Calabicitas enchiladas, which is sauteed zucchini, onion and cilantro, with a green sauce. I ordered the Blue Corn Cheese Enchiladas with Christmas sauce (Red and Green). The enchiladas were traditional Southwestern style and were served with posole (hominy) and beans. Mr. B enjoyed a local Santa Fe brew, Happy Camper IPA and I had a lovely chilled glass of Pinot Grigio. The food was truly incredible. They have their own parking lot, so parking is easy. There is inside dining, and the outdoor patio. If the weather is lovely, take a seat on the patio, it is really nice. I wish I had an Orlando's near me, I would be a regular.

Yelp
The pork medallions were amazing, and so were the chicken tacos. The wait was very long, but the staff were helpful.

Yelp
Oh my GOSH! I have eaten a lot of New Mexican food in my lifetime, but this might have been one of the best examples of true, delicious, incredible New Mexican food we've ever eaten. The green and red were both savory and divine on their own, but that chile caribe was memorable. Rich, dark, and that desirable level of bitter you want from truly good red chile. And don't get me started on the blue corn everything. I'm drooling. The shredded beef is flavorful and tender, and the chicken is even more so (surprising, I know). I've never had posole served on the plate, but even without the pork it was hands down the tastiest posole my mouth has ever delighted in. Our service was top notch with our drinks never running low, and our server was so friendly and sweet with spot-on recommendations. If you're ever in the Taos area, Orlando's is absolutely worth the stop in! Be aware they close from 3-5 to switch from lunch to dinner. I'm stingy with my five stars, but this place earned every last one.

Yelp
A hidden treasurer!!! Orlando's is a must try if you are in Taos. Great location, great staff and the most amazing food Pozole is served with most dishes and is wonderful. You know when you are dining with locals you did not go wrong.

Yelp
We stopped to eat after hunting for 5days. The staff was very friendly. We got seated right away. The food came out hot and super fast. We started with the chips and salsa. The salsa was flavorful but not hot. My husband ordered Los colored. It was rolled enchiladas three ways. I ordered the relleno with grilled shrimp. Both dishes were equally delicious. We will definitely be back to try other menu items.
google avatar

Aundya A.

Yelp
The food was good at Orlando's but we had to take it to go because when we arrived, they had a 2 hour wait for any party arriving at 6 PM or later. Carry out orders took 15 minutes which was perfect. Highly recommend to arrive earlier! Also definitely get the blue corn enchiladas with beef.

Yelp
This is such a fun spot. Went for my first dinner in Taos and it was a great introduction to New Mexican cuisine. I loved the enchiladas, and the chips and salsa, everything was authentic and the service was friendly. Great into to New Mexican food.

Yelp
Food is delicious. The chille rellenos were our favorite! Outdoor seating, dog friendly. They however do close the patio if it's raining.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I've been here many times and the quality, flavor, variety, and portion size rates satisfactory! I'm a little bummed out the didn't have any avocado pie but I understand that avocados aren't in season right now and the server said it's only for special occasions like when the avocados "cooperate". I'll still keep checking and asking for avocado pie each time I'm in town and stop in. I was also a little bummed they don't split checks as I am in town on business and would have like to pay for my meal with my company card and pay for my mothers meal with my debit card.

Yelp
Amazing food with plenty to be happy about. Portions sizes are fair given the price. The restaurant offers plenty of classics with twists along with their own special dishes. Worth the visit and I'd definitely come back. The staff was also a plus as they're attentive, friendly, and quick.

Yelp
I was so glad I called when we were heading into Taos. Yelp had them closing at 8 (almost everything closes at 8 around Taos), but they were open until 9. We were weary travelers on the road to catch an eclipse. When we walked up we could see people waiting to be seated, thankfully they had 3 seats as their counter. We saddled up and had what was arguably one of the best meals of our trip. Actually I did, it was me. I won the ordering game and got the best meal. I ordered the shrimp and chile relleno plate. If you like either of these items you should definitely order this dish. The shrimp were seasoned (such good flavor) and cooked perfectly, and the chile relleno with Christmas sauce was the best I've ever had. I'll be thinking about that plate in the future wishing I lived closer to Orlando's. For some reason (probably because we were all starved for veggies) hubs ordered a veggie burrito which he said was good, but he had some of my meal and said it was amazing. Kiddo had a quesadilla. It was a good quesadilla. The lemonade was delicious, sweet and tart. The flan was wonderful, one of the best flans any of us have ever had, beautiful flavor, awesome texture (and not too eggy). Must haves are the shrimp and chile relleno plate and flan. We went to another Mexican/New Mexican restaurant while in Taos... it was ok, but the wouldn't go back... I'd definitely go back to Orlando's.

Yelp
We went around closing time and the staff was spectacular, when we arrived they were busy but where able to find us a spot within two minutes. The Mexican music, the tiled tables, the artwork, the dried peppers hanging from the walls made it an excellent experience. We got their signature dish, the Los Colores enchiladas, and the Steak & Rienos combo. We asked for a medium rare steak, and they gave us delicious wall to wall medium rare. Honestly, considering the timing of our arrival, when we left and everything considered, it's probably one of my new favorite restaurants. P.S. to the dude that bussed our table n stuff (we where in the corner inside) you be chill
google avatar

Thomas G.

Yelp
Stopped in after a day of snowmobiling and their food hit the spot. Service was prompt and attentive. We enjoyed a simple bowl of queso. I had the blue corn enchiladas Christmas style. The red chili was flavorful and my favorite of the two. It was a late lunch and so the place wasn't too busy or too loud.

Yelp
Orlando's was all the rave amongst locals, and other friends who have visited Taos so we knew we had to give it a try. We also knew that we should be prepared to wait! So on a Friday night I was a bit worried about how long we'd actually wait for a table, especially as we headed over there around 6:45pm. To our surprise there was NO WAIT! We got seated outside right away! For me, that was the highlight of the experience. Our food was served quickly and hot, but I'd say the taste left much to be desired. I ordered the tamale plate, and while the green chili was indeed hot, it lacked flavor. The beans and pozole were also really bland. Salt and pepper helped a bit, but overall everything on my plate lacked any real flavor. I'm actually pretty surprised this is everyone's go to restaurant. If you're looking for an ambiance then Orlando's is it, but if you are looking for really good Mexican food there are other options in Taos. Or just drive a few hours to Pueblo, CO - you'll get real flavor there!

Yelp
The food and service were outstanding, and it was my first time eating at Orlando's. Being 30-year residents of NM, we eat a lot of NM Cuisine and thoroughly enjoy the food here. Since it was our first time, we asked our server for recommendations and ordered the Los Colores (three different enchiladas and three different sauces) and the Grilled Shrimp & Chile Relleno combo. Christmas was great, but what blew us away was the chili caribe sauce (yes, spelled that way on the menu, not chile); wow, just outstanding. I might have to return to order something else smothered with that excellent red chili (chile) style sauce. The Relleno was superb, as were the grilled marinated shrimp. Beans and Posle were delicious. The service was excellent, and the food arrived quickly. We arrived at 5 PM for dinner time opening, and there was already a line to be seated. We sat outside on the lovely patio with our three whippets. I did try the frozen Avacodo pie, which apparently is somewhat famous here. I recommend you try it, but I have to admit, I didn't love the Avacodo flavor profile. It's an interesting dessert, and you might really enjoy it, so I recommend a try, but I'm not sure I'd order it again. The first meal was so good that we went back on our way home and had another outstanding meal. We had their Flan, an enchiladas plate, and fish tacos, all wonderful.

Cyndie C.

Yelp
Oh my goodness the food was so delicious! I devoured blue corn enchiladas with shrimp. The sauces were so good. HH had a trio of foods and gobbled it up. For dessert we tried the avocado pie, a truly unusual but tasty dish. Great service, reasonable prices. Yummy!
google avatar

Madeline M.

Yelp
AMAZING service. The woman helping me was so sweet and helpful. And amazing food. Very very spicy salsa and red chile sauce so make sure you like the heat!!
google avatar

Scott O.

Yelp
We had the La Reina, Los Colores and chips and salsa with queso. $42. First of all the elephant in the room. If you're familiar with New Mexican food you might be saying - "what gives?". But Orlando's charges $11.25 for their chips and salsa with queso and also doesn't give free sopapillas at the end of the meal. And, maybe they should lose a star for not being a good value. But, that's a maybe because their chips and salsa and the rest of their food are amazing. The La Reina's grilled pork was smokey, juicy and delicious. All of the chili sauces were spicy and unique and very good. The Los Colores was also very good with three distinct and delicious flavors. The staff were all helpful and delightful.
google avatar

Yelp
Orlando's has the best chile rellenos hands down. I grew up in New Mexico and these are perfect example- crispy and covered with the right amount of t of chile. I ordered mine covered with green chile and it was smokey with a little heat. I love that they serve hominy as a side- it's a nice addition. My dad ordered the veggie burrito and he was happy with it. The French fries are an unexpected but delicious side to the burrito. Friendly atmosphere. There are fires outside if there is a wait. Parking is easy.
google avatar

Kymberlee S.

Yelp
Five of us went for dinner, the chips and salsa were excellent even though we did have a couple of people that couldn't eat it because they don't do spicy. But it had excellent flavor. I ordered the combination plate with a green chile ground beef taco, cheese enchilada and Chile relleno... their food comes with beans and posole, which were yummy! The taco was absolutely delicious, I took the chili relleno and enchilada home and had it the next day for lunch. I have to tell you I think that was one of the best Chile relleno I've ever had and I've eaten a lot of Mexican food.!! And the place is super cute!!! Don't pass this place by it's awesome!! Sorry I don't have any pictures of my dish but you can see it in this group photo!!

Barry M.

Yelp
Food quality is excellent. Atmosphere is fast paced, busy restaurant. Staff and service are wonderful. I'm there at least 2 times per month. My fav is the Blue Corn Shrimp Enchiladas. Outside seating is available for comfortable weather. I even brought my dog once. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Carolda E.

Yelp
Oh my gosh, this place is wonderful. We ate lunch around 1:30 PM and the place was packed. Great wait staff. The service is great. the food is wonderful. Great vibe if you're in Santa Fe, you have to try this place. The Mexican food is wonderful.
google avatar

Tanja N.

Yelp
I am very surprised this restaurant was not given 5 .. They must be doing something right if there is a line in front 30 minutes before the opening, even in the rain. We have only the best to say. The food was very good, service great, but the atmosphere was amazing. It's very compact, they definitely used the last inch of the space to squeeze the table in, and it actually adds to the charm of the place. It almost feels like a large thanksgiving party with bunch of strangers soon friends, because by the end of the dinner you are going to make few friends like or not.
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
Everything was great except the taco shell falls apart. The taco meat was extremely good and my tamale and enchilada were great, just can't hold a taco to eat it if shell disintegrates.
google avatar

Tina H.

Yelp
Service was terrible had to wait forever for water and then a refill. Way too busy to service customers. Food was terrible.
google avatar

Katy P.

Yelp
Wow! Ate here 2 days in a row! This place leaves NOTHING to be desired...service, food, and atmosphere were all exceptional. As advised in other reviews we arrived at 4:30 pm and waited in line until their opening at 5, and by then a sizable queue had formed. Felicia our server was fun, knowledgeable, and speedy, supported by a busboy who filled every other possible service gap including noticing when we were nearly done with our dinners (shrimp burrito and shrimp / relleno combo...both served with delish beans and posole), informing us of the dessert options (the pecan caramel cheesecake is TO DIE FOR!), and taking our order. We loved Orlando's so much we planned our next day around eating here again. This place is small but mighty with a team that executes with joyful precision. There's a mastermind manager behind this place and I say brava or bravo to you!
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
Excellent service. Traditional New Mexican food that was good. The flan was great. We had the combination plate and it was good, not spectacular as other reviews but good
google avatar

Ben F.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant in Taos. Located on the north side of town along the road. Decided to try this long established highly regarded restaurant a try on a Tuesday evening. Arrived a few minutes before 5 PM and within 15 minutes there was a line of at least 30 people waiting for the restaurant to open at 5. We were immediately seated, and had our chips, guacamole and salsa as well as papas. The fries had a wonderful green and red chili with a wonderful deep flavor. The guacamole was fresh as was the salsa. The beef flavor, and the burrito was very full and delicious. The pork tamale had a wonderfully complex flavor. The fish taco was well fried and very fresh. The flan had a nice French vanilla flavor. Our server was very attentive and sitting outside under the umbrellas was a lot of fun. Our beers never got empty, and we never wanted for anything. I can see why they have won best of Taos for so many years. This is a new favorite place in Taos.
google avatar

Courtney M.

Yelp
We came here in 2022 and it was absolutely delicious! Things that caught our attention were the signs posted "can't handle the heat, too bad". Yesterday we came back all excited for our favorite Taos restaurant. The signs were gone and so was the heat. The chips and salsa were ok and they charge $6.50 for a tiny bowl of salsa! The green chili lacked in spice and the margarita was super bland. Not sure what they have succumbed too, but I would skip this place. Michaels brings the heat and the flavor. On a good note, the service was still amazing!
google avatar

Seema Z.

Yelp
This place has amazing food. It s a small spot with New Mexican/Mexican fare We came after a long day of hiking and weren't disappointed after a 30 min way. No bar. So couldn't order drinks while waiting but they serve sangria, margarita and beer once seated. The Chile rellano is amazing and so try it. We tried the chicken taco salad, grilled shrimp skewer and chicken fajita and all were great. The least favorite and most underwhelming was the steak. Do try it and stay patient with the wait time. They have an outdoor fire that's a good spot To stay warm
google avatar

Olivia R.

Yelp
You are missing out if you don't go to Orlando's when you're in Taos! Food was incredible and service was quick and efficient. The ambiance was very new mexican and authentic. Things to note: they do not take reservations. It is first come first serve. Also, they do not serve liquor. Just beer and wine. The "margarita" is made with white wine, not tequila. It was fine but definitely not the same as a real margarita. Otherwise, I could not recommend this spot anymore!
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
This was my favorite meal in Taos. The blue corn enchiladas with posole and beans was the best New Mexican food I had during my stay. I never want rice and refritos ever again.
google avatar

Kathy W.

Yelp
Simply delicious. We wanted a New Mexico supper and weren't disappointed. We only had to wait a minute or two for an indoor table on a Saturday evening. The salsa is tasty but a little spicy for me. We both got the Chicken Enchiladas with posole and beans. So good! The prices don't break the bank, either. The only disappointment was the Margarita, but I didn't take off any points for that because the food is that good. Got a flan to-go and it was very good, also. I'll go again when I'm in Taos!
google avatar

Joe M.

Yelp
Having lunch with my Primo both enjoying our Primo plates. Service is great, food is delicious and very consistent with Northern New Mexico style. Good value for money.
google avatar

Joan W.

Yelp
The food is some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. This is our second visit. Always busy, but worth the wait. Atmosphere is laidback, friendly, and staff is attractive.
google avatar

Jorgi R.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! What a treat! The first stop we took in Taos and it didn't disappoint. Clean and cute too! Parking lot is handy. The food was wonderful and the staff was so friendly and good! I'll definitely make this my next first stop again when visiting Taos.
google avatar

Bill T.

Yelp
There are a bunch of restaurants in the Taos area, many very good. Orlando's is one of the best for New Mexican cuisine. For me, this place and The Shed are my personal favorites. Good service, parking, an outdoor patio largely shaded for fresh air seating. Excellent stuffed poblanos, enchiladas, good beans.
google avatar

Mindy M.

Yelp
We came in on a Friday night for dinner! There was a wait but it went fast! We got to wait by the fire until our table was ready. The service was very friendly and attentive despite how busy they were. I ordered the Chile Rellano with a shrimp skewer which was excellent! Best I have ever had. And my husband had enchiladas which he loved. The chips and salsa were really good too! We also had a margarita and the sangria. The sangria was great...the margarita was on the sweeter side. The ambience was super cozy!! Such a fun vibe inside! This is a must visit if you're near the Taos area!
google avatar

Dave G.

Yelp
You NEED to come here for the blue corn SHRIMP enchiladas. Literally the best Mexican shrimp dish I have ever had (whether in a taco, burrito, enchilada, etc). Really blown away. Amazing service - shout out to Anjelica. Worth the wait. This place has the reputation as THE RESTAURANT to stop by when in Taos for good reason. Do yourself a favor and swing by.
google avatar

Elle L.

Yelp
Perfect place to get your New Mexico chilies fix in Taos! Ate dinner here after a long drive into Taos and it was perfect.
google avatar

Kelli L.

Yelp
Straight fire. best chile rellenos ever. Combo plate fabulous. Fast and friendly service. Can't wait to try the outdoor patio when it gets warmer.
google avatar

Montana W.

Yelp
Hands-down BEST chile relleno I've ever had. Ever. Everything was good but that chile relleno... This was my first time but those I went with have been several times and they assured me they'd never ordered anything that wasn't delicious. This is definitely a popular place, so be prepared to wait a little bit. The service is great. The ambiance is great. Will definitely go back before I head out.

Anya W.

Yelp
My husband and I always enjoy dining at Orlando's. The patio is lovely in the summer, festive and welcoming. The food is always excellent, beautifully prepared, and the staff friendly and never too long a wait. I highly recommend anyone visiting Taos to enjoy a meal at Orlando's
google avatar

Brian P.

Yelp
Best food we had in Taos. 2nd best was Ranchos Plaza Grill BTW. Lovely setting. Nice but not perfect wait staff. Large portions worth every penny of the price. Really fun to have the hominy/posole. Delicious. Beans were great. Tried the combo plate and it was great although I'd stick with the pork or beef. My wife had the chile rellenos and they were great. The chips and salsa for $6 buck is worth it (large bowl of house made chips and delicious salsa). Honestly, wish I had made it back during our stay. I highly, highly recommend this restaurant if in town. Worth the drive to the edge of town (Taos isn't that big!) to get there.

Sunrise O.

Yelp
The service was excellent- everyone was friendly and seemed happy :) The food was fast and good. I got the Christmas, cheese, blue corn enchiladas. It comes with beans and posole. It was not super spicy but if you want the milder one I would go with the red chili. Beans and sauces are vegetarian. Overall it was pretty good.

Kelly B.

Yelp
Good New Mexican food, good ambience, good location (get there early), good margaritas
google avatar

Joy Q.

Yelp
Best Mexican in Taos! Wait was better than told. My favorite was the shrimp and chili relleno. The shrimp was grilled with red and green chili and was delicious!!
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
Honestly in love with this place! Food: delicious for the first time in a long time I didn't need hot sauce for my plate!! It's so tasty!! Service: everyone was so kind and well informed even telling us about cool things to do while in town. Seriously spectacular Ambiance: awesome wasn't to loud, wasn't stiflingly crowded, it felt like a cool and welcoming place!

Yelp
This was some of the BEST food ever and the customer service was incredible, very attentive. Especially, when they found out that we were recovering from altitude sickness. Cute atmosphere! Very comfortable!
