Brewvies is an absolute legend of SLC. I took a first date here and it's absolutely awesome to grab some drinks at the bar before going to watch a movie with some food. You won't find anything like it in Downtown. It's super unique and has a local vibe to it. They also got a patio you can go outside and sit with your drinks and be social which is a key factor in the bar and restaurant scene let alone full on movie theater. I recently moved across the street and it's my only go to spot after work. They got arcade, pool tables and the staff plays really good play lists. Jesse, Tay and Cuz are super helpful and amazing staff who always make you feel welcome. Definitely one of a kind place!

We enjoy Brewvies enough that we occasionally drive down from Ogden for a show. It's just very fun to have a meal and a beer while you watch a movie. Their movies tend to include a lot of horror flicks, which are not my personal thing, but we've seen Wicked and Naked Gun and other mainstream movies there. They run some good food deals certain days and times and I think their cocktails are very reasonably priced ($8.50) and yummy... I've had the Movie Mai-Tai (very fun) and the Giant Peach one (very nice flavor)

My husband and I have been coming here almost every Monday for the last three years as our date night. We absolutely love it and have gotten to know the staff very well. Jesse is one of our favorites anytime we see his face it makes our day getting to catch up with this wonderful team their service is great. The food is great and the movies are wonderful. I would recommend this for a weekly date night to anybody who is a cinephile Like us.

My partner and I have been Brewvies regulars for the past four years; we come every Monday for their free Film Buff series. The curator, Jesse, always shows such a wide range of unique films. I have been absolutely amazed at how much work and passion is put into these Film Buff nights. Jesse's curation is out of this world. And it's FREE. Pabst beer is just $3 on Monday, fries are always warm and crispy, and drinks are always cold. This is always the best date night for me and my partner. Honestly, the experience is made amazing by the superb staff. Jesse is always ready to talk about the film after the movie and take feedback. Tay has my and my partner's drink orders memorized. The door staff is always friendly and welcoming. The movies pulled me in, and the staff keeps me coming back. Thanks for being the best bar in SLC, Brewvies!

This place rocks! It's the coolest place with an awesome atmosphere. Great drinks at great prices. The movies are stellar, especially their Wednesday night movies and Movie Buff Night. The bartenders are the most rad. Jesse, Cuz, and Tay are the best people on the planet and it's always a pleasure to see them. THIS PLACE RULES!!!! I can't recommend it highly enough. Ya gotta go!!!

Went for a KRCL activity. Saw Stop Talking Sense about Talking Heads (band). Some in the audience got up in danced. And was pretty fun.

I’m so grateful for Brewvies! It’s the only place in town where I can really get my film fix. I love Film Buff Nights on Mondays — Jesse always picks the coolest, most obscure, interesting, and artsy films that keep me coming back every week. He also helps out with Wednesday night HUMP Nights, which feature fun, quirky, and culty movies. We are seriously so lucky to have him keeping the SLC arts scene alive and thriving.

Really enjoyed the place this year up until a friend of mine tried to rent out one of their theatres. There were issues with the rental not going through, but they made it sound like we would get in the theatre within 1.5 hours, but they kept pushing it back and lying to us or trying to ignore us. They could have just turned us away when we got there so we could have left and enjoyed the night. Instead we waited and spent money on drinks thinking we were going to see a movie. Was shocked how unprofessional some of the employees were. It was busy with the group who actually got the rental, but that does not excuse the way our group was treated. Most likely will not be returning.

Usually empty. Pool tables too! This place is dope, been meaning to visit again soon :)

Tonight was my first time at Brewvies which is astonishing considering I love beer and movies, and it's such a casual and lowkey movie theater that doesn't take themselves too seriously. The vibe was enjoyable and laid back, with a full serviced bar, a decent menu of various food offerings such as burgers and mozzarella sticks, pool tables and a very, very long line to order beer. You must be 21+ to enter, which creates a better experience in my opinion without the worry of crying babies in your movie theater. Can't say there won't be any crying adults though! This theater is a really cool concept for us Utahns, who can't have alcohol in a typical movie theater. The theater itself is much smaller than a standard one, with semi-uncomfortable seating but I loved the nature of it nonetheless. There are shelves lining each row in front of the seats to place your food and beverages. It was pretty busy and loud in the bar area, so service was slow, but on a $5 Tuesday movie night, that's understandable. Would love to check out their brunch on Sundays!

My wife and I were here with the Universityof Utah. They hosted a movie night here we had dinner. It was very inexpensive and delicious. I also loved their beer. I had a blueberry pale ale and it was very light and refreshing. My wife ordered a hamburger and a salad. I think we spend around $30. The seats at the theater were very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

It might not be the newest, state-of-the-art theater, but there's something endearing about the old-fashioned nature of Brewvies. It feels like the movie experience of yesteryear-mixed with the small business vibe. And, it's 21+, so you're not going to hear babies crying or children talking during the movie. This also isn't the place where you come if you want to take your movie watching experience too seriously. Adults are drinking-hooray that we have that option-and can get rowdy. I visited during a Sunday brunch showing of Clue and it was far more interactive than any other movie experience, with the exception of Rocky Horror Picture Show. People were cheering, talking back to the actors and generally having a good time. For this type of experience, I think Brewvies is perfect. And a $3 mimosa on Sunday is a pretty darn good deal!

This place is such a fun find! The perfect combo of movies, drinks, and great food. We always go for the delicious nachos, they never disappoint and pair perfectly with an adult beverage while watching a film. The 21+ atmosphere makes it feel relaxed and unique, like a night out and a movie all in one. Love the vibe here and can't wait to come back again!

I love it here. I come frequently on Monday and Wednesday for the free film nights. Monday night Film Buff series is the best. Jesse knows his stuff and is an SLC icon.

Stopped in during a road trip, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this theater. The staff working that night were friendly and laid-back, which added to the welcoming vibe. I tried a new type of cider, which was interesting, and while the pizza was decent, the theater itself was impressive. I especially liked the tables in front of the seats, which made for a more comfortable experience. We saw Venom, and although the movie had its own highlights, the theater itself was definitely a memorable part of the experience. I'll be sure to stop by again next time I'm in Salt Lake!

Fun time at Brewvies tonight! Haven't been in years!! Not much has changed, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I enjoyed the Pulled Pork Sandwich with sweet potato fries and a Guinness. My husband got a lemonade a vegetarian pizza. We each got theater candy too! Butterfinger for me and Redvines for him! Even popped out in the middle of the movie for a nice shot of bourbon to go with the rest of my candy! I need to see more movies here! If I'm going to make the effort to go out to a movie, might as well enjoy good food and drinks along the way!! Much better than the regular movie theater fair, plus no screaming children either!

Great movie theater my favorite and the food is always good. They updated the bathrooms and any and everywhere that wasn't at its best capacity now is! Cheap tickets and they have vegan and gluten free options for those of us that are picky eaters or have food allergies or preferences.

easy ticketing system, good atmosphere and unique little place! they have a good option of beer available as well as food and snacks. it's deifnetly expensive but nothing more than what you'd expect at a theater. service was nice and fast and overall it was a great way to spend an evening. the chairs in the theater are not the best but they're comfortable enough and there's a nice little table in front to enjoy your food. if i lived out here this would be a staple!

RUDE ! workers in a powwow of four doing nota, finally when the lead un groomed hairy face child comes to some sort of attention. he demands IDs . we just wanted to know what the place was about .. I am way old enough , so this is not abouT legal age . When we just said forget it ,because of his rude attitude , he added welcome to Utah !

I was really excited about this spot. My partner had been here a few times with friends over the years, and they all really hyped it up. It definitely was fun, and I enjoyed having a little date night here to watch Godzilla Minus One, however, there were some issues along the way. There doesn't seem to be a cut off for people? There was a clearly very intoxicated man, who was being incredibly difficult to the bartender, slurring his words, barely standing upright, etc.. Seemed as though he had already been there for a while. Ended up being one of the audience members in our movie, and snored (loudly) through the whole thing. lol. Wasn't insanely disruptive, but definitely tainted some of the experience. He got another drink before we left. Bartenders were kind and quick. They seemed to be out of quite a few things though, which kind of sucked, especially as we didn't find out until after placing our order. Was not offered a refund, but an exchange. Food was decent - pizza was definitely movie theater quality. Their drinks were great, though. We tried the Walter White, James & The Giant Peach, and The Move Mai-Tai. All in all, just felt a little all over the place. Some things were fine, others not so. This was also a Saturday night, and not busy whatsoever. Would come again to see if it's a different experience during the week or one of their event nights.

Brewvies is a strange place. Fisrtly not in the best part of town, right next door to a gas station, abandoned lot and a lingerie store. The atmosphere, once inside, is much like a dive bar mixed with the 80s adaptation of the ninja turtles city. The staff wasn't outright rude but I would say unwelcoming. The food however, and the drinks for that matter, were pretty good. If the owner could generate some cash flow to renovate the property and bring things up to a modern standard of either bar, restaurant or theater I think it could be in good shape.

This place is really cool. There's a little bar towards the side if you just want to order drinks or wait for your movie. A few pool tables. They usually have a great selection of movies playing.

Always one of my favorite theaters to go to, as I love the idea of being able to have alcohol while watching movies. They have a decent selection of beer and they put a good amount of alcohol into their mixed beverages (not something you can always count on in SLC). Theater seats are basic but adequate and there is long table like thing to put your items on in front of the seats. There is a small bar with a few pool tables to keep occupied while waiting for a movie. Took off a star as it had been awhile since seeing a movie there and recently went to see Beetlejuice 2. Was really looking forward to eating some chicken wings, as I recall them being pretty good, standard bar chicken wings. Was VERY disappointed in what I got. The damn things were breaded, had minimal sauce on them, and no dipping sauce (bleu cheese or ranch). When I saw the breading I thought maybe they were boneless wings, but nope. Just shockingly bad for chicken wings, compounded by the expensive price ($15.99 for 8). Still thoroughly enjoy seeing movies there, but not going to get the wings again

We found this gem on accident while we were in town for a family function. By far this is one of the most unique places we have ever ventured into!!! I wish we had one of these where we are from. Not many places offer pub and movie style drinks, snacks and food. No need to sneak your goodies in, they have plenty. If you come in for one movie and decide to stay for another, hop on into the "pub" portion of this joint in between screenings. Enjoy some food and maybe shoot a game of pool!!! All of the staff we encountered was super friendly and helpful, the ambiance was genuine & unique and the place was super clean!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU ARE EVER IN THE AREA!!

It was fun to go see the Barbie movie at such a fun place. We went to the The movie but there was also a drag show a little bit before hand. The food took a little bit longer to get done then we expected but it was pretty good. It was a fun audience and it made the movie even better.

Wow you get to order beer, food, and watch a newly released movie? Only in Utah would this seem attractive & novelty. But whatever, of course I wanted to experience what everybody was raving about. Unfortunately this experience was nothing short of terrible. If you do want a better experience, I would suggest any of the following recommendations: 1. Arrive 30 minutes before showtime to stand in line & order food. There's a chance your food may be ready by the time the movie starts 2. If you are thinking of ordering a pizza, don't get your heart set on it because they actually might not have any by 7pm 3. Do not order the mozzarella sticks, there is no cheese pull 4. Do not order the fries, they come out cold 5. Do not stand in the pick up line, even if you see the sign that says "pick up" when you are ready to pick up your food. You should just stand in the order line because that is the only way to get anybody's attention 6. Try not to lose focus on the movie even when the music from the restaurant side is bumping their bass 7. Have zero expectations for any sort of comfort from the seats 8. Maybe just go have a beer somewhere else before a movie 9. Maybe just go to a nicer movie theatre 10. Maybe just don't go here at all -Sailor out

First off, I've had many good experiences at Brewvies in the past, and in principle, I have a lot of love for the place. That said, even on my best visits there, there's always been issues: projector problems, card readers being down, always something. And this time they went over the edge. Apparently, the building was hosting a private event in one of their two screens, so they were absolutely packed, and their card reader was down, so service was slow and stressful, but whatever. The real problem was, the projector for the private event went out, so they stopped the movie we were watching in the middle with no warning so they could use our theatre. No one even came in to tell us, they just turned it off, and we only found out when we went to ask. No consideration for the money we spent on food or anything. I was shocked. I probably won't be back after this.

Man, this place was pretty cool! They had an excellent beer selection for all beer drinkers. We ordered a Groupon which got us tickets to see the movie and a pizza. The pizza was decent, if I ever go back I would get something else to try before making a final judgment on the food. The atmosphere was laid back, with two bar areas for those seeing the movie and those who are just hanging out. I would say that they could use some minor renovations to put it over the top. My biggest complaint was that when the movie started, no one on the staff thought to close the door to the theatre. So for about 30-45 min into the movie, we had to hear people talking until someone in the theatre went and closed the door themself. This was quickly undone when someone else exited the theatre, as the door itself does not close automatically. But overall, the staff was helpful and friendly, and I would go back if I was ever in the area again.

I feel so badly for whoever put on the Barbie event last night because Brewvies handled it horribly. They claimed to be out of burgers and pizza at 700pm but we saw others continue to get burgers throughout the entire evening. You had a sold out event and didn't prep by having enough food -- not even to last until 630?! Since we were all told in line that burgers and pizzas were out, we got 2 orders of chicken strips (which were delicious and big, the only slight saving grace). But we also ordered a full nachos with guac which used to be a whole platter that can feed 4 people. Usually, Brewvies does an amazing job with these and they're filling and baked with yummy fresh cheese. What we received was smaller then an order of chips at Taco Bell, with paltry amounts of fake cheese sauce and a dab of avocado paste. We asked if there was a mistake and if we'd gotten the half order and were told that the kitchen was low on supplies. For $20, we got an order of nachos that had about 15 tortilla chips and each person in our group got about 3-4 bites. We were starving, otherwise we would've asked for a refund. To make matters worse, the friggin picture was out of focus and incorrectly projected throughout the whole movie. The entire theater complained multiple times and it got half-assedly fixed about 25 minutes into the movie. We still couldn't see the bottom 1/4 of the screen and couldn't read the subtitles. I'll never go to a Brewvies event again.

Really cool, small, dine-in theater with a lot of charm. Great to hear that Mr. Reynolds stepped in to help this place when the city almost shut them down. This will be our go-to movie spot whenever we're in SLC!

They're not able to deliver food within the hours you're in the theater. It's so frustrating how often you have to check back in with your order and always expect the meatless orders to be incorrect and sent back.

This is really the only one of its kind in the salt lake area! Hot fresh bar food and a movie. Could you ask for more? If you're really interested, look into the hilarious history involving Ryan Reynolds nudity and Deadpool and how he paid off a huge fine from the utah government! This is basically a bar first and movie theater second. The food is good and the workers are honestly super nice always. The tickets are super cheap so even if you don't want any food just hit up the theater for a thrifty deal. They don't have many movies playing, but will sometimes do old school classics also!

Fry sauce is the best in the state. Just order wedges and you're good for a laid back time at the movies.

Brewvies has had such an upgrade since the pandemic and everything in between. Their menu has had a major upgrade and there's so many fun things they have here! Regular tickets are $9 which is WAY less than other places and the matinees are $7. Sunday brunch movies are free as well and same with Monday nights and then Wednesday they do something cool thing where movies are free which is neat!

Do not go on an opening night. We had to remind them about our food twice and ended up not getting any at all. The whole point to come to this place was to watch a movie while we eat dinner. Really horrible customer service, front desk guy was insanely rude, didn't even look up from his weird little doodle while I was asking for help. Definitely will not be going back or recommending this place. Bathrooms were a mess with no locks on the doors. Extremely disappointing.

I've been here a couple of times for different events. First time was to experience watching a movie with a beer in hand and the second was to munch on their food. I grew up in Sacramento, CA and never heard of a movie theater that serves alcohol! Theater seats are comfy and there's a couple of couches in the back. Since it's a small venue, there are only 2 movies that would play a day. So check the schedule. This place is a bar so it's 21 and over only. Sorry kids! Not sorry! Lol. There's also arcade games, couple of pool tables, and a full bar. The food menu is the typical bar food and movie theater concessions. Yes I'm talking about the boxed candies and buttered popcorn! I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with French fries. It's not bad, but if you add their fry sauce, it is amazing. The fry sauce here is probably the best ever; better than Crown Burger. It's got that spicy kick that I like and haven't had this far. Definitely coming back to check out a show with beer in hand!

My boyfriend mentioned his buddy who works here recently put this up outside. We love brewvies but I especially love them for not taking this down. Thanks for standing up for women.

Absolutely one of the best places to go if you want to support local business. I think they just have 2 theaters but that's totally fine! Nice service at the counter, a really awesome menu, (I got a Beyond Creole burger and an AMF basically). The theater room was really nice actually, with a couch in the back of the theater that I almost wanted to sit at lolol. And if you don't want to watch a movie it's split so you can just go to the bar and play pool and eat as well. 10/10 local spot

Great drinks. Service was a bit slow. Older theatre and seats are very far behind the screen. Bathrooms were clean but doors didn't shut and were damaged.

I have been coming to this place for three years now it's awesome! the jukebox, patio outdoor, movies and dinner with a bar what a perfect place to catch a new movie. The staff is very nice and everything I asked for I got on time, definitely will be coming back Crystal will be the reason I keep coming back she took such good care of me. Very professional environment 10/10

Have been here twice now. The first was to see Zombieland back in November and now to see Star Wars with a friend. The food is not bad but not great. Kinda of expensive for what you get. I paid like 40.00 for an order of mozzarella sticks, onion rings, 2 beers and a shot of whiskey. The movie tickets themselves were only like 10.00 each I think. The attraction I guess is that you can drink alcohol while watching your movie. Here is my thing the seating is pretty outdated (not the reclining chairs) and it was super cold. Temperature wise they needed to turn the heat up we both were freezing during the movie. If it's drinking your looking to do then rock on but I might check out another theatre in the future.

If you'd like to have a cocktail with your movie, this is an awesome theater! I had a great experience and a great dinner at the bar afterwards. It's a very unique place.

Beer, food and a movie? What more can I asked for!!! That's like the best combination, esp when things aren't that expensive at all. I went there like Sunday after and got a movie and a beer all for $8. Totally worth it. The food here isn't that bad as well. If you're expecting something gourmet...that's not what you'll get here. You're here for bar food, the alcohol and to watch one of the new movie that is out. They have a full bar. If beer isn't something you want you can always order a cocktail. They do have a nice selection. I did try one of their amf and it was good. They do put a decent amount of alcohol in there for a place in Utah. Now do keep in mind this is a bar that shows movies. So if you are looking for a comfortable seat...you won't be getting that here. At the back of the theater they do have couches...so I do recommend sitting there instead of one of the actual theater seat.

There is only 2 movies playing at a time and the staff and food are essentially nonexistent. I would love to give a better review but sometimes I think they miss some major areas of improvement. I get coupon deals so I go for a affordable movie option although there are better options out there!

Saw Barbie. The place was so much fun. Great vibes. But they really need to find a way to solve the lines for alcohol and food. Missed the beginning part of the show just waiting in line. Slight bummer.

Decided last minute to take a pre Valentines trip to Brewvies. The staff was awesome. Food is delicious. We watched "80 for Brady" it was fun and heartwarming. Always a great time.

such a fun environment, but Jessie (the bartender with long blonde hair and man b00bs) is the worst bartender. first, he poured me a beer with two inches of head. then when i came back in the middle of the movie, I was first in line and he ignored me for a solid 5 minutes. when i asked for a beer, he made a sarcastic comment and said, "i'll address you when im ready." I had to miss 10 minutes of my movie because he didn't want to take 2 minutes to serve me.

Came here to see a movie 7pm on a Friday. Waited 25 minutes in line to find out they were out of pizza (at 7pm on a Friday) which is about half their menu options. It took an hour for them to make fries and mozerella sticks, which were cold when received. Even more annoyingly, the bar music also leaks into the theater and added an annoying base track throughout the entirety of the movie. Will never be going back here, the novelty of getting to eat and drink beer during a movie is not worth how bad an experience it is otherwise.

Unique (to Utah) is the concept of having a bar / restaurant combined with first run movies. Couple things about Brewvies.... the neighborhood is sketch so I don't know how late I'm staying here. It's a bit run down and aged inside and the screens aren't the Mega Monsters you see around the valley. BUT.... there are some awesome things here. The food is legit good. Great burgers and fries and other appetizers. The beer and beverage selection is top notch and priced decent as well. There are also pool and gaming tables to keep you busy if you bore of the movie. Good place to visit, definitely worth coming back.

This place rocks if you're into old school vibes--and booze. Love the decent food menu selection (way more legit food options than any normal theater), and the bar is the reason I will always pick the Brewvies. Being from CA, I'm used to theaters that serve alcohol! The guy who runs the place is really cool and down to earth too, you can tell he truly cares about the place.

It was 105 degrees in salt lake this weekend, and Brewvies showed movies in a theatre with a broken AC. They said it has been broken for days - days! - but didn't tell customers when they purchased tickets. At the end of the movie they offered free passes but when I looked closely at the pass it wasn't a free pass, it was a BOGO pass.

I love Brewvies. It's the perfect place for an adult date night: full bar, a surprisingly huge menu of bar food, cheap movie tickets, no kids! There are the usual suspects on the food menu: popcorn, candy, nachos ($11), cheese fries ($8), wings ($13), onion rings ($8), pizza ($10-$14) but also surprising appearances from a hummus plate with pita and veggies ($11), 1/2 pound burgers like the Black and Blue (with blue cheese!), fish tacos, a gyro pita (??!!), a Cobb salad. Brewvies rocks. The theaters have old creaky seats (who cares?? Tickets are so cheap!) and a nifty little ledge in front of each row to put your food/drinks on. There are a few couches in the back if you prefer to be more comfy. They usually show 2-3 movies at a time, and there are monthly special films like their partnership with KRCL (2nd Tues. of month) and martial arts cult classics (2nd Wed. of month). A couple perks you might not know about: - Discounts for students with a student ID - only $6 for any movie, any night of the week - $5 Tuesdays for everyone - Early Bird Special: M-F until 4pm you can get a burger, drink & movie ticket for $12 - $5 lunch specials before 5pm (M-F) - Free pool daily until 5pm, then again after 9pm (weekdays) and all night on Mondays - Salt Lake Cinema Trash Night is the first Wednesday of every month and features the worst in B-cinema - always free The only reason I don't rate it 5-stars is because we sometimes have to patiently wait for movies we really want to see. They tend toward the superhero movies (I'm a fan) and are famous for their choice of R-rated flicks that tend from the super-violent to super-racy (not so much a fan). They become famous/infamous for such showings when the state threatened to take legal action against them. I don't mind the squeaky seats, but their bathrooms are also pretty dingy and leave something to be desired for cleanliness. Even with that said, we love Brewvies and always check it when we're looking at movies. You can't beat the prices (other theaters these days are just so crazy expensive) and it's so fun to be able to drink beer and eat junk food while enjoying your film.

If you want no service and employee with bad attitude. Come here! We went and the girl behind the bar see you but ignores you the whole time. We Will never never come here again to spend my hard working money! So sad to see this place go down.

Do you want to drink alcohol while watching a movie and without smuggling in a flask? Then Brewvies is for you. If cleanliness and high food quality are priorities, then...Brewvies would be better off skipped. That said, I've lived in Utah far too long to deny the novelty of a place that allows adults to make informed decisions about whether they'd like to get a little buzzed while watching a film. Sure, I've quickly pounded back a drink at Bout Time while en route to the Gateway Theater, but this is about principle not practice. But, be warned, this spot is a dive. If you can't or don't want to deal with the qualities* of a dive, then just don't go. -------------------------- *or flaws, depending on your attitude.

Parking here can be a nightmare but it is a great place ! Love the atmosphere, food was way good , movie seats with tables are nice ! Staff very friendly ! Went here on a date and had a really good time ! Would Recommend for a girls night out or for a date !
