Gukdari Kimchi Stew in Gongdeok — my go-to spot for kimchi jjigae. The side dishes, especially the fish cake and egg, are so good. I was alone this time so couldn’t try the pork bulgogi, but I’m definitely going back with a friend next time.

jjigae is the best as a legend

We were hungry and looking for a place to eat. This place seemed crowded but had few unoccupied tables. So gave them a try. They have only 3 items on the menu, 김치찌개, 제육볶음, and 개란마리 (kimchi stew with pork, stir-fried pork, and egg roll (100% egg, not to be confused with fried egg rolls served in many Chinese restaurants in USA)) We tried 김치찌개 and 제육볶음. Food was very tasty and portions were good. Ended up spending 21,000 won. Service was quick and efficient. Although we would not go multiple times during short duration. Would be good place to visit once in a while.

Very traditional. The owner and staff do not speak any english and we had to order food for all the people at the table (you can’t be 3 people and only order for 2). It’s worth it if you want to try kimchi chicken in a local, Korean place. Had a pot of kimchi chicken and some assortments for 3 people and a beer for 35000 won.

Simple but good. Just try everything on the menu, only 3-4 main dishes. All good! Kimchi stew and egg rolls are perfect match! Great price point.

Went for breakfast. Simple 김치찌개 restaurant with limited menu, but that is enough. The taste of 김치찌개 was very good with very tender pork meat. Good for relaxed breakfast and lunch.

Very salty. cannot eat

Very clean and simple kimchi jjigae 김치찌개 taste. The jayyook 제육 is fatty pork in a nice sauce but again, nothing to write home about. Not worth any detour in my opinion, but it's OK for a quick bite
