The story behind this restaurant is news in itself. Doña Tina, the founder, started out by selling bread on the street. It is a familiar sight seeing bread sellers on the street and at traffic lights plying their wares in and around Santiago, and many other smaller towns. The difference with Doña Tina is that she went on to found this well known restaurant and became known for her high quality cuisine. Sadly she passed away recently. The restaurant lives up to her legacy and continues to serve up great tasting food. The broth dishes are delicious, as is the beef that I ordered. No one in our party was able to fault the taste and the portions are more than ample. The staff are friendly. The ambience is great. We sat underneath the reed canopy and had the mountains as the backdrop. It was an idyllic venue for our last eating out experience in this wonderful country for this trip.

An impressive place. It’s large and lively, and has the most efficient staff I’ve encountered in Chile so far. Our food and drinks arrived really quickly and the portions were generous. Tasty too.

Considering the place is within Santiago, price are really affordables, good quality, nice variety (meat soup - cazuela, corn cake - pastel de choclo, empanadas), the place, the vibe, the atmosphere are awesome. It's a good example about Chilean country side style (very simple). Specially the people who serves, they are really warm. (But, if you are looking something more sophisticated, maybe isn't for you)

This is a place I have known since the early 80's. I still enjoy visiting when in Santiago, and it did not disappoint me this time around either. The recipe is simple, good authentic Chilean food, rising from its roots within proud people.

While visiting some friends in Chile they brought us to Doña Time to experience some authentic Chilean cuisine. Doña Tina is something of a celebrity in Chile, so it was cool that we got to meet her in the way out. The restaurant itself is located outside the main bustle of Santiago and has a cool treehouse outdoorsy kind of vibe. While the bathrooms were not very clean, it was incredibly busy as we were there during the national holiday in September. There are dancers that come around every so often and dance the cueca, and there are also guitar players that will serenade you (don't forget to tip them!) As for the food, it was very good. I had the chicken soup, which was basically half a chicken in broth with pumpkin and some other vegetables. Other than the fact that I had to deconstruct my own chicken, it was excellent. Almost everyone else loved their food too, although some of the American were unused to the portion sizes (shocking, right?). The bread and butter/jam/spreads were also excellent.

A cool drive to a nice, less touristy area took us here to this spot with huge portions and seemingly authentic cuisine. It was solid, especially the lucuma cake, but not worth a haul.

We took a friend from USA/Mexico that was visiting us in Chile... and we were pleasantly surprised... the service was great, food was delicious, and, the icing on the cake were the roaming guitarists and, not to mention, when the owner, Doña Tina passed by our table and welcomed us. Highly recommend!
