Krependeki Imroz Restaurant

Good food but ended up paying a huge bill as lots of plates had no price on the menu, we trusted that the amount would be reasonable and it was not... mixed grill was TL120 whereas all the other mains were billed at TL40... obvious they packed a lot of meat on that plate but it was for our 10 yo kid... I found this upsetting but hey, if you know, just be aware. Otherwise pleasant experience....

The food was fine but not worth the price. And I really don't get this 10% Service fee Thing.. since the Service was pretty normal. Had to edit my 3 stars to one because I tried a lot of different Restaurants in Istanbul which Had much better food and were much cheaper.

Very friendly staff, best seafood.

Slow service (we even had to ask for a second menu with two persons), average food (fish was dry as baked to long) and charging for everything extra. For the toilet you pay and they automatically charge 10% of the bill extra for the 'incredible' service. An absolutely no go in Istanbul, especially for a meyhane!!!

Fish restaurant is highly recommended. They have a variety of fish. Starters and special dishes. Very kind staff. Nice waiters who give you the feeling that you must return to the place.

It was sad to see such an interesting restaurant street almost empty, with the staff of every restaurant "fighting" for each customer. The restaurant was ok, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The food, maybe because there was not many people eating, was only average.

Ridiculous prices. A tiny octopus arm was 75 TL, in Greece you get twice the amount for 10 EUR. Over 100 TL per person with no fish. They are begging us not to come again, we will happily oblige.

This is a place to drink Raki not talk politics, as I was told. Seriously, there is a rule not to talk politics here. Raki is too serious a drink and the mix of that and political emotions can be an explosive mix. Ask the server there about this unwritten rule (if you can get someone to translate for you). This place is to die for. Promise. This was our very first non-airport meal in Istanbul and we loved it. We went in here after walking up and down the little restaurant street twice. Since all the waiters will be trying to cajole you into their restaurant, you need to walk with a determined look on your face while casually letting your eyes survey in your peripheral vision. When we got to the end of the street, my friend and I turned to each other and surprisingly both said "the one with all the world flags hung up inside?" "Done." So we walked back down the street with the same determined look in our eye, avoiding all the charming waiters except the one for this restaurant. We got seated at the very top, where we got a nice view of the street. We had two appetizers and one entree each: the sarma, caviar, coban salad and a kebab dinner. I can't say enough good things about the sarmas. Nothing I have ever tasted before in any Turkish restaurant in the US compares. At all. Needless to say, we wiped all our little plates clean and were satisfied until the next morning, when we ventured out for a pastry shop breakfast.

Very trendy but the staff was extremely rude. They rushed us and didn't offer assistance with the menu. we are not very big fans..

We went on a happening Saturday night and had to walk through the throng of crowded tables on little Nevizade from Istiklal to get to Imroz which was at the end of the street. Great vibe from this old Greek tavern. We had 5 types of mezze including lamb's brains ( had cow's brains 2 days before that in Tbilisi!), eggplant cooked 2 ways, fish, octopus together with wine and raki and a fig dessert. All was delicious! Found the bill quite steep at US$70 for 2 of us.

Whatever anybody says about Istiklal and it's seafood places. This is treacly good place to visit for dining. I really like its atmosphere and the ambience in the street. I like the food and the place but the service is OKAY. Make sure you don't get ripped. Average price should be 25-40 dollars per person.

this place isn't that amazing but is decent enough. please beware of the trick "come upstairs, we have seating on our terrace" when you see there is no street level outdoor seating. we are currently sitting INDOORS next to the terrace. another potential scam, the cold mezze plate --they bring a tray to the table and you point at what you want. no prices provided until you look at a menu. and no menu was offered at this point. we aren't embarrassed to ask prices so we did and narrowed our order: we got: pickled anchovies mussels olives tarama (caviar, breadcrumbs, dairy) (my fave) rice wrapped in vine leaves purslane w yoghurt all comes w a basket of toasted bread. they refilled the basket. you could fill up on mezler and bread. we passed on the brain salad. that's too much. I like to think I'm an adventurous eater but to be honest, I keep away from organ meat. everything but the tarama was meh and cigarette smoke is wafting all around me. lots of smoking everywhere in this city. my boyfriend's dad was still hungry so he ordered chicken shish. raki (licorice flavored alcohol that becomes cloudy when mixed w water) is a real treat and packs a punch. also please note that nevizade street while a picturesque and bustling bar scene is a total shitstorm and the dudes from each establishment try to lure you in so be ready w a plan of where you want to go before you start strolling.
