Stayed here as part of a 60th Birthday holiday celebration, the tail end of a touring holiday on the mainland.|My room was one of the Guard Rooms on the ramparts, which was exceptionally prettily furnished and had all tea/coffee making facilities, etc. Both the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. |Dined in the Castle Restaurant for the evening meal and the following morning's breakfast and found the staff there very helpful and courteous. The food was also of a very high standard and the menu imaginative, which complimented the surroundings. A pleasant and, dare I say it, luxurious experience, but this is the Star Castle!|The night I stayed was a bit of a stormy one (hence the ferry being cancelled a few days later) but this only added to the adventure, as I was tucked away in this little cosy and historical haven near to the water's edge, where I could hear the wind howling outside. This did not disrupt my sleep, however, as the comfortable bed ensured I slept like a log:).|I had initially booked to stay two nights here but, as mentioned, the return ferry departure was cancelled and had to be brought forward one day and, so, alas, I only got to stay for one night at the Star Castle, instead of two. I shall never forget my short stay here though and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you ever get the chance to stay at this hotel (and especially the original part) please do, you won't forget or regret it!
