Kelso's Sandwich Shoppe

Tried this café recently and loved it! We had the Chicken Paradise sandwich and the tuna melt, the chicken was the standout, but both were tasty. The coffee was excellent too. Only downside: there isn’t much seating, just a few spots outside, so it’s not the best place to linger. Overall, a really solid spot for delicious toasties!

‘Chopped cheese’; “DICED BEEF”!!!!??It’s packet mince!!!! which explains its over all greasy texture and what it did to the roll it was thrown in. Ironically enough if there had been ACTUAL beef DICED it would have made a great roll and a way less soggy greasy bread and overall experience. Amateur hour. Waste of money.

Finally we had the chance to go to Kelso's. I really loved the chopped cheese sandwich - the superstar of our experience. The fried chicken wasn't the best but still good. The service was friendly, but we had to wait an extra bit for the food. I wish they had a seating area inside. I would recommend going there for the chopped cheese. Would love to visit again to try other options.

Yumm! Got the salad sandwich on rye bread, super fresh and tasty. Great flavour combos 🤌🏻🤌🏻

My first chop cheese and absolutely not my last ! Ordered via Uber eats and everything arrived hot and fresh. The chop cheese was packed with flavour and they definitely didn’t skip on ingredients, especially the cheese. The bread was also perfect for the sandwich. Fries were yummy too - crispy and well seasoned.

A retro-themed café that serves a mean tuna melt sandwich and excellent coffee. Just don't think twice about ordering a sandwich in this little gem.

Sandwiches : gross, sloppy, leave a filmy residue in your mouth. Matchas : no ice, thin……. Just plain bad. Service : bad attitude and unpleasant energy. Happy I tried this place to know I never want to come here again. In a city of amazing sandwich shops, not sure how the quality of these could be just so horrid. Don’t waste your money!

4.5/5 ⭐️ Kelso’s is one of the OG sandwich shops in Melbourne, having opened in 2016 before any of us anticipated the sandwich craze of 2022. Their menu has a wide variety of options, ranging from brekky, chop cheese baguettes, burgers, fresh and toasted sandwiches and other sides like housemade pickles and fries! I had the Brekkie Burger - fried egg, bacon (or mushroom), hashbrown, pickles, BBQ sauce and cheese. Come before 10am and they’ll add a free coffee! It was a great size, freshly made, the bun was soft, the hash brown and bacon were both really crispy and had a good crunch to them, the egg was nicely fried. The only criticism I’d make is that there wasn’t enough sauce (I’m a sauce fiend) and it was a little oily but I guess that’s expected given the ingredients. I highly recommend paying them a visit, I feel they deserve more recognition. I suggest taking a jacket though because they only have outdoor seating and this cold is no joke
