Oak Alley Plantation

My wife and I wanted to see a plantation and I don’t think we could have gone to a better example of an American southern plantation. It’s a little drive out from New Orleans and once you’re out of the city I was struck by the changes in landscapes from cypress groves to huge expanses of wilds to huge fields waiting for crops ( this was February) and then to a series of 3 plantations. Each one with a great house and then smaller buildings behind and scattered about were shacks maybe 10 or 12 by 30’. Oak Alley was the last of these we saw. It was the largest, most beautiful grounds and best maintained. The first impression is of the mansion with the slave shacks some distance behind. We were told only one of the original shacks survived to modern times but the others standing now were restored from records of the plantation. The live oaks are a sight to see in themselves and the grandeur of the place just magnifies the disparity of the lives lived here between the slaves and the owner family. I’ve never been to a concentration camp or prisoner of war camp restored but I can imagine the feeling must be similar - to be in a place where humans suffered so much. We walked a self guided tour of the slave quarters and there were excellent descriptions and displays to give you some sense of conditions and the life there. I was very impressed that there was a wall listing the name of every slave who had lived and worked there - thereby honoring and humanizing them as individuals. We also took a guided tour of the house which was excellent. The tour guides and staff seem dedicated to communicating the nature of the place and its history and did a great job. I’m glad I went - seeing a video or documentary is not the same feeling.

This is such a wonderful place to visit. The tour guides are very knowledgeable, and the entire museum is very respectful in honoring those who were enslaved on the plantation. Even if you are not into history, the grounds are well kept and very beautiful. I would highly recommend visiting and I wish to return again.

An amazing, scenic plantation mansion. Plenty of information and the tour from McKenzie was great. Was amazing to see the Braithwaite manor from rdr2 and the site where Beyoncé’s Deja Vu music video was filmed. The cafe and gift shop was also really cool.

A truly beautiful destination with amazing scenery. The oak tree-lined path is iconic and worth seeing in person. We visited with our French bulldog and really enjoyed walking around together. The whole place feels peaceful and memorable, especially on a nice day.

Oak Alley Plantation is an incredibly picturesque and memorable place to visit. We did quite a bit of research before choosing a plantation tour, especially since we had already done several history-heavy tours during our trip and were traveling with an 11-year-old and a few ADHD adults in our group 😊. We felt Oak Alley struck a really good balance. The tour was educational and historically accurate, and while the subject matter is understandably sobering, it was presented in a way that wasn’t overwhelming for the younger member of our group. We appreciated that it acknowledged the realities of plantation history without feeling too heavy for a family visit. We also loved the on-site food options. There is a full sit-down restaurant, but we recommend eating earlier in the day, as it was very busy by the afternoon. For us, the sandwich shop was perfect — quick, tasty, and exactly what we needed. The gift shop was another highlight, with lots of fun and thoughtful items to browse. Between the beautiful grounds, the iconic oak trees, the informative tour, and the convenient amenities, this was a really enjoyable stop. Overall, Oak Alley was a great choice for our group and a wonderful way to experience a plantation in a way that felt respectful, engaging, and manageable for everyone. We’re glad we chose it and would definitely recommend it.

18 Hundreds are alive and effective here. There's so much to see and to digest about the days of plantations and slavery. The atmosphere takes you to a totally different period in a matter of seconds. A must see place if you are into history.

Visited Oak Alley Plantation on a weekday via a Gray Line bus tour from New Orleans. Entry was smooth with no wait, and purchasing tickets in advance was helpful. Transportation was comfortable, and the experience was well organized overall. Our driver and guide, Alton Williams, deserves special recognition. He was professional, enthusiastic, and deeply knowledgeable about Louisiana’s history beyond just the plantation itself. His positive energy and storytelling made the bus ride engaging and informative, and he added valuable context throughout the journey. The interior house tour was led by Anthony, who was knowledgeable and respectful while guiding us through the space. However, the interior portion of the tour felt quite short, and photography was not allowed inside, which limited how much of the historical information could be revisited later. Given the overall ticket price, the interior experience felt brief compared to expectations. That said, the visit itself was emotionally complex. The grounds are undeniably beautiful, with the iconic oak-lined path and well-maintained landscape creating a striking first impression. However, walking through the site and learning about the lives of enslaved people who lived and suffered here was deeply painful and heavy. It is an important history to confront, but it makes the experience far from uplifting. The plantation does provide informative signage and preserved structures that help explain daily life on the grounds, but the emotional weight of the history stays with you long after the visit ends. This is not a casual tourist stop, but rather a reflective and sobering experience. Final thoughts: Oak Alley Plantation is historically significant and visually striking, but emotionally heavy. It is worth visiting for those interested in American history, provided you are prepared for the difficult realities presented. I would describe this as an important but bittersweet experience.

After the tour, it was lunch time and I went with the house salad and added chicken. While the salad was fairly standard, it was hearty and satisfying. The highlight of our visit, however, was the exceptional service. Our waitress went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. She was incredibly attentive, always checking in with us to make sure we weren't rushing to catch a tour or chartered bus. Even though we had driven ourselves and weren't on a time constraint, I appreciated her thoughtful approach and consideration throughout our meal.

Located on the Planation property. Behind the slave quarters. Happy vibe in the restaurant. Such a change from the tour which was heartbreaking. Service was quick and we were able to enjoy a hot lunch in combination with our tour group. I had the special which was White Beans, jambalaya, and fish sticks, and a salad, and a roll (Which they forgot to give me and I didn't think to ask.) I love the white beans, the fish sticks were nothing special. My husband got the gumbo, which if you don't know it's like a soup. He really liked it and warmed him up on the chilly December day. I do recommend the restaurant. Let your server know your time constraints.

Were were really looking forward to eating here and drove about 30 min out of the way to give it a try. When we arrived we were seating immediately. When looking over the menu, it seemed a bit bland. I will give credit that the gumbo was delicious, but everything else I had and Christina had was just not very good. I would put this in the category that if you are just really really hungry, it will work, but walk in with minimal expectations.

Wow Wow Wow.. a restaurant at a Plantation Tour? Who knew it could be so good. The service was great and food delicious. Off the beaten NOLA path but right in the Plantation Tour path.

I'd call this a cafe more so than a restaurant. It was a lot of fried food on the menu. There were no healthy options or even a good salad. The fried fish was very tender and surprisingly good though. The service was meh, taking orders and bringing food. Given the location it would be nice to have a more fine dining, foodie experience with a view of the grounds.

I didn't have high expectations only because this restaurant sits on the plantation property and is the only restaurant so it doesn't HAVE to be good .... BUT WOW is it ! I got the shrimp gumbo and LOVED it. My husband got the BLT with fried tomatoes and WOW I will be thinking about that sandwich the rest of the day. Mint sweet tea was also such a treat! Cara was our waitress such a sweetheart ! So pleased with our choice to eat here.

Very nice to have good food at a beautiful venue. The restaurant appears to be a old home so every dining area is like eating in a different room of the house. Service was well informed and attentive. The food was well done and not premade and out of a freezer. Good traditional Southern flavors, good quality and not as abusively priced as they could be for such a remote location. Definitely worth the time before or after touring the plantation.

Came here after we toured the plantation and and we were starving! Loved the gumbo. It was packed with seafood and so delicious. The red beans and rice with sausage was so good. Definitely should check it out after your tour.

During our cross country road trip in the summer of 2022, we spent a couple of days in Louisiana, camping and touring different sites. While we were there, we made plans to see the Oak Alley plantation, after having purchased tickets online a few weeks before. Because we had little kids, we decided to only tour the outside grounds, and not spend any time inside the house. I left a different review for that, and of course, as the author, I totally think it's worth reading. But considering we arrived right at the opening... As a matter fact, about an hour before the opening, we had a little time to kill, and that time afforded us the contemplation to realize we didn't feed the kids any breakfast. Luckily, the plantation also has a restaurant, so we headed over there for coffee and whatever else we could find on the menu. Thankfully, they had a very nice menu, great service, and yes... Plenty of hot coffee. The kids ordered an assortment of breakfast items, been yeas, oatmeal, eggs, and topped it all off with three big hot chocolates. Good thing, because the air conditioner was absolutely roaring inside, so much so that the condensation had built up in rivulets on the outside of the window glass. We enjoyed our breakfast as a family, giggling a little bit about the fact that the Tabasco sauce did not have to travel very far. If you know you know. Good service, pretty reasonable prices, and good food. It's a shame this place is about 2000 miles from my front door, otherwise I'd probably eat there with some regularity.

A cute little restaurant open for breakfast and lunch only. The menu wasn't too expensive but did include beignets for breakfast and gumbo for lunch which are pretty much all you need in my opinion! The eggs were overcooked (sunny side up- but yolks were solid) but the beignet was pretty good and bacon was super crispy. We also ate lunch here the day before and I only got dessert (ice cream and pecan pie) which was delicious. My husband ordered the gumbo and really enjoyed it. If you are staying overnight at a cottage they do offer a dinner delivery to your cottage that you can heat up in the kitchen yourself which is nice since most restaurants in the area are a 30 minute drive!

Food is really good! It is typical new orleans food and flavors, all things ive been eating my entire life. For tourist, anything on the menu is delicious!

Plantation is beautiful of course We bought 6 tickets. One of us couldn't come. No refund of course. When I asked for the ticket I wouldnt use they gave it to me. When I handed it to a lady in line behind me they shouted at me loud and angrily "thats not how this works!" I didnt appreciate the aggressiveness. I retrieved the ticket and gave it back. They just glared. Went to lunch. It wasn't busy plenty of tables. I asked nicely not to be seated beside the swinging door of the kitchen. She moved us but glared and slammed our menus and silver down. Kind of soured our day. Wont be back

We clearly chose the wrong time to dine here. I say that because every glowing, gushing, 5-star review about this restaurant is based on a lunch or dinner review. But trying to find a good review about their breakfast offering? Good luck. We actually didn't drive all the way down to Oak Alley to visit the plantation. I'd booked us reservations down the road at the Whitney, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to see the famous Oak Alley visual, the one that's made its way to so many posts, blogs and stories. So, we compromised by choosing to have breakfast at their onsite restaurant before driving back to the Whitney to pick up our tour. If you're doing like us and are just stopping in for lunch or dinner, once you enter the gravel parking lot, keep driving past all the parked cars and take the small lane on the left. That'll bring you to another smaller parking lot, which is where you want to be for the restaurant. When we arrived, fairly early on a Friday morning, the restaurant was mostly empty; they had just one other older couple at a table close to us. They seemed to have been there for a while - the woman had spread out to the table closest to her and the man was deep into a newspaper - but they didn't have any drinks on their tables. Not even water. Our waitress, Skylor, was either very new or very not interested in being there and serving people that morning. If she had a personality, it was not on display. We would thank her for something, and she'd either grunt or ignore us altogether. In fact, she practically ignored us the entire time. And when I say "us" I mean the two tables that were occupied at that time. It took about five minutes for her to make her first appearance, when she stopped by the other table first, then ours. We'd all had so much time to review the very limited menu by then that we knew what we wanted. So, even though Skylor made it very clear that she only wanted to take our drink orders ("What do you want to drink?") we all made it a point to place our food orders at the same time. For my main, I went with the Full Breakfast, eggs scrambled ($10.95) and a cup of coffee; my husband got the Pain Perdu ($10.95) and a cup of coffee. And then we settled in to wait. Not really sure what took the kitchen so long; they had three of the exact same order (the other couple also got the Full Breakfast) and only four people to feed, but the wait was incredible. And then, when we thought we'd have to run out without our meal to make sure we got to the Whitney on time, the food arrived. Skylor barely made an effort to place the plates in front of us - most items landed with a clatter and a clang - and then scurried off without so much as an "enjoy your meal" or "can I get you anything else?" That last would have been nice; turns out we were all hoping for a small pat of butter for our gigantic and dry biscuits. The other couple guy gave it a go without, then tried to wait to see if Skylor would come back to check on us (spoiler: she did not) before getting up to get the butter himself. The breakfast itself was okay, very basic. You can't really mess up scrambled eggs (I had cheddar cheese added to mine); the bacon was crispy, but all curled in on itself, which I'd never seen before; the grits were meh (but again, grits really aren't my jam); and I've already mentioned the biscuit. My husband's plate was kind of sad looking, and I worried it wouldn't be enough to fill him. I gave him my grits to supplement, and that seemed to help. Meanwhile, our coffee cups went empty, and no Skylor. Our plates were as cleaned as they were going to get, no Skylor. Another group of four joined the breakfast fray, no Skylor. We started packing up to see if we could pay at the register, and that's when Skylor magically appeared. No apology for being off elsewhere, no "how was your meal" or "is there anything else I can get for you?" We asked for the check, gave her our card right away - mentioning as we did that we had to get to a reservation - and then waited on the edge of our seats for her to return. In this, at least, she was prompt. We said, thank you because we were raised better than some, and she turned on her heel and walked away. And that, friends, is why I'm giving this two stars. The food was decent - certainly nothing to rave about - but the famous southern charm that we'd experienced at literally every other restaurant in the New Orleans area was weirdly absent from this restaurant.

Popped in to have a late lunch with my family after taking a tour of the Big House. The staff and atmosphere were amazing. Now onto the food, everything was delicious. We had the fried green tomatoes, Crawfish Etouffee over Fried Fish, Cajun Medley, Seafood gumbo, Roast Beef Poboy, crème brûlée and chocolate pecan pie.

Visiting from out of town. Toured the plantation and stopped in the restaurant for a quick bite to eat. I was with a party of 6. We were seated quickly and they gave us lots of space (we are in a pandemic, after all). The waitress asked if we were part of a tour group and what time we had to leave. Upon hearing that she ensured we got our food quickly, that was awesome. As for the foo The catfish was well seasoned, and as you can see, they put a lot of it on the sandwich. The bread was good as well. The side of Chicken Gumbo was just as good as the sandwich. If you're touring the plantation I'd recommend you stop by if you're hungry.

This a very nice restaurant and service is always good. Feels like you are at grandmas house. Food is very good.

If you visit the Oak Alley Plantation and have time on your hands, then the restaurant is fine to dine. The best dish for me was the catfish appetizer! Oh my! So good! Red beans and rice was a little overdone, however the bread pudding with rum sauce makes up for it! I had the fried green tomato BLT was okay, a little dry, though.

This is the sit-down restaurant at the Oak Valley Plantation, and while we were unsure how good it would be (because it can be so hit-or-miss with restaurants at attractions), we really wanted to sit down for our meal. We ended being surprised with how good the food was, and the prices were reasonable for being the only restaurant at the plantation. The Cajun Medley was really good and allowed us to try multiple different Cajun dishes at once. The also do a really good grilled shrimp with a BBQ-style seasoning on it. They were efficient here, which was nice because we were with a tour-group and had a timetable to stick with. Staff were also super nice. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but a great choice for food while doing the plantation tour.

This was an excellent stop after our tour. My husband and I shared the Cajun medley after sharing swamp fries. Both were very good. We also had the mint juleps. Hard to beat a KY mint julep. The weather was perfect so we were able to sit outside. Great stop!

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was on this beautiful plantation! One of the best seafood gumbos we had while we were in NOLA. We went with a tour group to visit the plantation. Since the restaurant staff knows you're on a time clock, they quickly seat you, bring your food hot and fresh, and bring you your bill promptly so you can get back on time. Overall, amazing experience and definitely worthwhile.

After our Big House tour, we got a little hungry and noticed the restaurant on site. We got the Sweet Mint Iced Tea, and it was so refreshing. We shared the Shrimp Poboy, and this was the best poboy! The shrimp was crispy and the fries were potato wedges but so good! They were kind enough to already split our meal in half on separate trays. Such a perfect meal to end our NOLA trip. The plantation itself was stunning and so breathtaking!

On tour here we stopped in for lunch on Feb 28, 2024. We had the shrimp, crab meat and okra gumbo and the special which were crepes filled with shrimp, crawfish, peas, and carrots in a tomato creole cream sauce. Both dishes were delicious. They grow their own mint which is used to make mint juleps which we also tried; it was refreshing! Our server was very kind with wonderful southern hospitality.

A local recommended we start our New Orleans food journey here at the Oak Alley Plantation Restaurant and we weren't disappointed. We were seated without any wait and everyone was very pleasant. We both got the Cajun Sampler which came with smoked sausage with red beans and rice, crawfish Étouffée, served with a delicious side salad and a dinner roll. Also enjoyed the flight of juleps- mint, lemon, and a frozen julep, I think it was pomegranate. Enjoyed all three and a great way to try the local options. The red beans were flavorful and especially when combined with a bite of the smoked sausage. The crawfish étouffée was the hit by far, rich and creamy bursting with flavor. For the salads, I highly recommend the house vinaigrette, it was outstanding! Had to take away a star for the crunchy rice; while most was good, kept running into grains of uncooked rice; a restaurant of this caliber has got to get rice right to get all 5 stars. Still, the service was excellent and the food was very enjoyable. Great experience!

Solid restaurant (we had lunch) if you need a break from your visit to the plantation. We just shared the fried green tomatoes and the alligator bites. Both tasty small plates -- just enough to satisify us for the moment. Full service restaurant near the gift shop serving authentic Southern Cuisine. I would recommend this.

Hannah was great! experience. Save room for dessert, cause you have a lot of choices.

Food was good, but we asked if they had the deserts in the cafe, which is the ice cream and drinks shop in the gift shop. They said yes, and we only learned later, when the restaurant had closed that in fact only the pecan pie and bread pudding are sold in the cafe. This is a basic question about their facility. They should know the answer, but if they don't, they shouldn't make up a falsehood.

Absolutely amazing! The service is on point and food is at the same level. This is the cutest little converted house attached to the gift shop. Don't let it fool you, this is a perfect spot to grab lunch while you're stilling Oak Alley :)

Restaurant, cafe and gift shops all are next to each other. Menu seems to be diverse enough. Little pricey but looks good. Great facilities on the plantation for visitor. We didn't tried food here but overall looks great setup and menu.

I had just finished sever tours nearby and was getting hungry on the verge of hanger. As this is rural Louisiana and I was in the area on a Sunday, this was one of the only places open. Parking for the restaurant is not with the regular parking. Drive around to the building with the strange slant to the roof and park there. The restaurant is not clearly marked, so go to where all the kitsch flags are. That is the gift shop. Right next to the gift shop is the restaurant. I was promptly seated. I had the mint sweet tea which was not too sweet and perfectly flavored. The house salad was nice. The stuffed baked potato was amazing and very filling. The green beans were so fresh. The buttermilk pie was just lovely. If you are in the area, come in.

What a great find. We have eaten here twice when we have taken friends and family to the Plantation. After touring the house and grounds the first time we visited, we decided to give this restaurant a try. It was a great surprise. So when we had family in for a reunion, we went back The food is great and the portions very generous. The fried green tomatoes app was my meal. The grilled shrimp and the fried shrimp po boys were loaded with shrimp. Everything we ordered including the bread pudding--shareable for sure--the buttermilk pie, the pecan pie-- was delicious. We love this spot and the restaurant is a hidden gem.

I've visited here several times and I've never been disappointed. The view is beautiful and set on an old plantation home that you can visit and tour. There's small cottages that have been renovated into nightly stays. Across from the restaurant is a small bar where you can relax. The trees are absolutely beautiful and signify everything that is southern Louisiana. The restaurant menu is seasonal, so depending on when you go, depends on the food as well as the drinks. The frozen blackberry julep, however, is served all year round and it is an absolute must! I've ordered everything from Cajun to comfort food and I've never ordered anything I did not like including the desserts. The ambience is a true southern scenery, I definitely recommend this piece of history! Update: 3/8/20 Still a great visit. I love coming here for Sunday brunch and enjoying the beautiful scenery and great drinks. I added a few more photos of outdoors.

Really enjoyed our tour of this beautiful piece of our history. The scenery was stunning and it was so informative. I did get a little emotional when I saw how elves were treated, the shackles and neck collar was so frightening. I learned a great deal of our history and I know it's just a slice of what people went through in the past, I think places like this should be seen by everyone. We also had a very nice lunch in the restaurant. They were so friendly on the tour as well as in the restaurant and shop. Would definitely go back.

Tour guide took us here for lunch and he recommended the gumbo! It was pretty good! I loved all the different flavors in there. Also had creme brûlée for dessert, very tasty but wasn't too crazy about it.

Fantastic food. Some of the best I have had in Louisiana. They have a great selection of local food and beers. And the wait staff was super friendly. They are also very accommodating for the corona virus procedures. You can sit outside or inside. We sat inside just because of the heat.

I was a bit skeptical going to a restaurant where there aren't too many choices but it was perfect for our visit. We had the seafood gumbo with shrimp, crab and okra and the Trio medley. The service was quick and the waitress was very friendly. There is a gift shop right next to the restaurant which I picked up some candies pecans. They also make their own pralines. Back to the review of the gumbo- the seafood gumbo had a very nice shrimp and crab flavor. The beans and rice were what you would expect and the chicken gumbo was very good too. The sausage was a pleasant surprise. If your hungry give this place a shot. The pecan pie got good reviews - we would have to try that some other time. The tour of the Oak Alley Plantation is a must and it was educational to hear about the history of the house and the folks who occupied the place.

Finally had my green fried tomatoes and worth the wait. My friend had a salad which was huge and delicious. Out waitress Angela was very nice and great to chat with ! Will be back

What a picturesque plantation! We stopped in after touring three other plantations just to grab a bite to eat. I was apprehensive thinking it would be touristy food but ended up being pleasantly surprised to find a creative chef in the kitchen. Make sure to try and get a table overlooking the main house. Also, try the shrimp (chef has her own seasoning that is fabulous). They make everything in house including the salad dressings and all of the deserts. Go for any of the desserts you can't go wrong.

It was so good! The gumbo...amazing! The po boy was yummy too!! There was sooo much shrimp it filled my sandwich and there was extra to eat separately. The atmosphere was awesome. Our server was so friendly. The restaurant style was very homey and added to the southern experience at Oak Alley. Highly recommend!

This place is on the grounds of the beautiful Oak Alley Plantation and the food is reasonably priced and VERY GOOD ! We had sweet iced tea with fresh lemon & a mint leaf to drink. For our appetizer we had the Oysters Roman they were fantastic. You be sure to order them when you go, you'll love them. Then between us we had a gumbo of seafood gumbo it was full of shrimp and crabmeat and had some okra it was very tasty. We also had a side salad and it was fresh and crispy. Then one of us had the fried shrimp poboy and oh man were they delicious and perfectly seasoned and the one of us the sloppy roast beef poboy and omg it was delicious also and came fully dressed and was diffidently homemade. We shared a slice of praline cheesecake and it was also great. I highly recommend that you eat here. We loved everything and our server was good as well. They have a great gift shop here as well.

What a great way to end a fun day exploring this beautiful plantation. The food is so delicious and prepared perfectly, the staff are so friendly and covid safety is a priority here as well as the tours. Definitely a wonderful experience and leaving with happy full belly's is great. Definitely end or begin your Oak Alley Plantation experience here.

Awesome! I am in heaven with Louisiana cooking. This little home had foods that filled rooms with scrumptious tastes. The plantation tour is a must see! Hundreds of years of history told in about 1 hour. The preserved artifacts told their own tales of life as it was. Although, we are diligently sweeping our past behind, our roots will forever reign within this country we call, United States of America.

Traveling in Louisiana and wanted to visit a few plantations. Went to one and then Oak Alley was our second stop that day. Looking for a restaurant in the area for lunch o came across the one at the plantation. We were hesitant thinking it would be a tourist trap, expensive and not good. Decided it looked the best in the area. So glad we didn't go with our guts! The restaurant is an old house that has been turned into a restaurant. Tables in each room made our dining experience cozy, even thought eh restaurant was full. I had the Cajun Shrimp special and it was fabulous. It came with salad and garlic bread. It was under $20. The bill for the 4 of us with drinks was less than $100. One of our cheapest meals of the vacation. Give it a try if your in the area!

Gumbo and Bloody Mary was on point. They also had a mint julep flight, where you got to try their original julep, a blackberry one, and a lemon flavored one. Even though they all came in small glasses, those drinks were strong! Our waitress could have been a little nicer, but I understand that it was nearing the end of the lunch service and she was probably tired and frustrated from having to deal with customers all morning. She was a little impatient with us and we felt pressure from her to put in our order quickly. We were too full after our meal to have any dessert, but they did bring out a tray at the end of our meal to showcase the options they had that day, and man did they look good.

After our Plantation tour at St Joseph's we stopped over to Oak Alley. Cute interior with some really great food. Start with the Seafood su gratin, special of the day. The grilled shrimp poboy, yummy! Then Bourbon Pecan Pie!!!!

Restaurant located on Oak Alley Plantation, on the opposite side of "the big white house" (where you can catch the tour). My husband and I decided to come to this restaurant after visiting Laura Plantation (5 miles away) since there is very few food options around this area. After seeing the high rating for this restaurant (4 stars at the time I checked the reviews about 1.5 weeks ago), I made sure to make plans to eat here for lunch. When we first came into the restaurant, around 1:15 pm, we told the hostess that we wanted a table for 2. She told us that the wait would be 20 minutes. So we waited only less than 10 minutes and were seated. We were taken to the back porch of the restaurant (which resembles a house). As we were walking through the restaurant, we saw plenty of empty tables and not sure why we were told it would be a 20 minute wait. Anyways, after we were given our menus, we ended up ordering: Gator Bites, $10.95 prior to tax- Deep fried alligator pieces, very tasty. Just wished the pieces were a little less oily. This appetizer came with sriracha aioli dipping sauce, which was really good and went well with the gator pieces. Seafood Au Gratin, $15.95 prior to tax- This dish was a bit rich but tasty (but can only eat so much of this, so we did not finish it). But disappointed that there wasn't much seafood (mostly small pieces of shrimp) in this cheesy dish. This entree also comes with a side of sauteed zucchini (nice that it was lightly seasoned and appreciated that it was not swimming in a buttery sauce) and a small baguette. This entree also comes with a small side salad. House Salad, $9.95 prior to tax- Our server first brought a small side salad. After eventually trying to get her attention to ask about my house salad, she eventually brought put my salad entree. She told us that she had put in an order for a house salad and a side salad but never apologized for the error. Anyways, the house salad was a great size and fresh for the most part. But wished that there were more of the spring mix (made of the healthy dark green leafys) than the cheap iceberg lettuce. There was also 2 small pieces of garlic bread server with this salad but did not have much flavor. ------------------------------------------ (Total= $39.98 after tax, prior to tip) Our server, Rhonda, was not friendly and seemed like she did not want to be at work by her attitude. She was rather short with us and was not attentive. When I asked her for menu suggestions, she did not give us any and made some odd comments whenever she wold bring out our food. For example, when she brought us our gator bites appetizers, she pointed to one large fried piece and pointed saying 'that must be a piece of catfish'. I was surprised that she said that and and was just silent with a confused look on my face. She then said that it was a "bonus" and that we were "lucky" and then left. That large piece she pointed to was actually alligator and not catfish in case you were wondering. Our server also would drop off our food and then dash away from our table very quickly. When trying to get her attention, she would just walk away. She even walked away while I was talking to her. She also did not bother to offer a box for our leftovers. When she came back out with the dessert tray, you could tell that she just did it out of obligation and not because she actually wanted to wait on us any longer. The food that we had overall was pretty average for the most part, but the service (from our server and the hostess) just added to our disappointing experience. I wouldn't come back here and waste my money on this restaurant. You are better off eating at B & C Seafood Market (https://www.yelp.com/biz/b-and-c-seafood-market-and-cajun-restaurant-vacherie) 5 miles away for lunch if you come Oak Alley Plantation and need to grab a bite to eat.

Oak Alley restaurant deserves a 5 Star for its food and staff. I ate the Crawfish Etouffee' Over Fried Fish plus the seafood gumbo , which were delicious and my husband the burger. Our waitress was one of the best. She kept asking if everything tasted good and refilled our drinks. She recommended the daily special and the gumbo. The gumbo was spiced perfectly not too spicy. The main dish was very smooth and didn't taste fishy.

Food was good but the deserts crème brûlée and chocolate pecan pie was out of this world. We sat outside with pretty views and very pleasant servers . A definite yes !
