The best burger place in Seoul.

Seoul (updating)
Downtowner Hannam

Made an impromptu stop at Downtowner in Hannam-dong for lunch today — and wow, it completely exceeded expectations. The pulled pork burger was rich and juicy, but the real star was the shrimp burger, hands-down one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Super crisp, perfectly seasoned, and not overly heavy. But the ultimate must-order? Chicken Fries — golden fries tossed with chunks of fried chicken and drenched in that sweet-spicy Korean glaze. Addictive, comforting, and impossible to stop eating. A total win for anyone visiting Seoul who loves elevated fast-casual done right. Highly recommend dropping by if you’re in the area.

Love the fries! Also particularly liked the cheeseburger, not super heavy. Would love to come back and try the other flavors.

I tried a burger from a chain restaurant in Korea, and as someone from Australia, I found it to be quite decent. While it's not something to brag about, it's a good introduction to the popular burger options in Korea. For me, it was nice to take a break from traditional foods. The burger had great flavor and was made with very fresh ingredients. The fries were well-fried and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. Although it was a bit pricey for a casual dining experience, it was worth it. Both burgers I tried were enjoyable, and I couldn't choose a favorite—one tasted fresh, while the other had a more American-style flavor.

I cannot recommend Downtowners. The pulled pork burger is just a regular beef paddy burger with a bit of dry pulled pork on top of the paddy. But it’s sweet and spicy so tastes quite similar to Lotteria’s bulgogi burger. It’s a very Korean taste. The paddy is quite gooey; I don’t know what they add to it that gives it that texture. It’s surely not 100% real meat. For that you pay 12,000 won! The chicken bites are crispy but lack seasoning so are not particularly enjoyable to eat. Besides, the ‘house’ sauce is just thousand island dressing. I also didn’t enjoy the loud music blasting out of the speakers. If I were to choose between Burger King and Downtowner, I would choose Burger King, both for flavour and pricing, and atmosphere too.

I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of a homemade-style local burger. The bread is soft and delightful, while the beef is truly scrumptious. However, the service is satisfactory, which aligns with my expectations, as it reflects traditional Korean culture where the focus might not necessarily be on providing an overly attentive service experience.

The pulled spicy pork burger was highlighted as a must try. So, I ordered it. Yes, it was spicy. The overall taste was good. I enjoyed it. Can the management pls remove the speaker that’s above the man’s toilet seat? The whole time I was doing my business, it nearly blasted my ears off. Perhaps, you could place the speaker where people don’t stay longer. Thank you

It was the worst burger I ever had in my life, so plain. Their cashier staff was also rude, ‘hey hey’ to remind a guest to take away the credit card? I mean, there was no queue and he could be more patient. The whole transaction was like just 5 seconds. SO NOT WELCOMING.
