Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow MOCAK

I went on Thursday when the permanent exhibition is free and you got a discount for the temporary one for only 20zl, with Karta Krakowska, you only pay 16zl which I really recommended because the most interesting part is their temporary exhibition which has massive collections of arts from different artists, the permanent one is not that much to see and less interesting for me. They also have a bookshop, cafe and decent locker. The exhibitions feature many themes from 10 Polish artists and one Ukranian. I feel most of the paintings quite emotional and some might be triggering and need parental supervision, so careful if you bring a little curious child. There is also one sound installation performance by Konrad Smoleński, they play it at certain times at 12, 2, 4 and 6pm last for 26 minutes.

Such an interesting place. Both the building and the exhibitions were very unique. There's a big variety of art displayed, so everyone will find pieces they like and don't like, but I think that's completely normal in an art gallery.

Me and my partner love contemporary and modern art, and we visit museums or galleries like this one everywhere we go. This one was a very pleasant surprise. It was that kind of exposition when the art streams what it is supposed to. You could quite literally feel what the artist wanted you to feel by looking at it. This exposition was a little bit dark and disturbing but that is what art is all about as well. We enjoyed this visit a lot, we recommend!

A beautiful space containing some interesting artworks of varied quality. The narrative or flow is a little muddled and it isn't entirely clear where the collection ends or how you exit (the same way you came in - so you pass through the first gallery again as you leave). I thought Dorota Mytych's 'At the Back of My Mind' was the stand out exhibition.

Beware. The sign outside says "museum" with the "contemporary art" words covered by bushs, and is next to Schindler's factory, so we went in thinking it was an actual museum. 30 seconds later we realized it was a weird collection of "art" (most from 2025 so not even a museum in any instance). We instantly walked out and asked for a refund on the basis we were mistaken. The man behind the counter was very rude and refused. A sad reflection of the poor treatment of tourists for what could have been easily rectified at no cost to the 'museum'.

The price is ok , especially for family ticket. There are many exhibitions inside. Some works were intriguing, some were attractive, some were not for us.

I love this museum. I visit it every time I come to Kraków, and it never disappoints. The building’s architecture and lighting, the permanent collection, and the always-interesting temporary exhibitions are all wonderful. I loved the Radosław Kotarski collection, I discovered so many talented Polish contemporary artists 😍 I 100% recommend it to lovers of contemporary art !

I really enjoyed MOCAK, its collection, and the reclaimed post industrial space. Very well written English descriptions made it very convenient for anyone who doesn’t speak Polish. They kinda get overshadowed by Schindler’s Factory next door, but I can strongly recommend this museum for anyone who’s interested in modern art and exploring the Polish art world.

A truly cool place worth a visit even for those who aren't huge fans of contemporary art. Yes, I mean it :). A relatively new museum (opened in 2010), MOCAK is spacious, visually pleasing, and simply intriguing. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are just two floors, with an additional two small outside spaces with temporary exhibits. On 'Free Thursdays', only the lower floor is free, which doesn't make any sense. Seeing everything is a must. A normal ticket is inexpensive, so there's no need to hesitate. Just come and enjoy the art (or not :). Plus, I don't know if it was just a temporary promotion, but when you buy a ticket, you get a discount on coffee at the Little Paris Cafe located at the museum. My espresso was delicious. One more thing. Every Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm is observed 'hush time', a quiet time when no exhibitions, guided tours or workshops will take place in the exhibition rooms, and any works that emit loud noise or are strongly lit will be turned down or off. Just so you know. In my case it sucked, but now I remember to avoid visits at that particular time.

The MOCAK is now my favorite modern art museum in the world! Tons of cool, immersive exhibits of VERY varying types! I'd say so long as you like contemporary art at least a little bit, you'll find something to enjoy here! As someone else mentioned it's not a very cohesive collection, but honestly, I like seeing thinks that are totally off the wall in different ways. Money-saving tip: the museum is free to EVERYONE on Tuesdays! And they don't make you feel like a jerk for coming on the free day, like some museums do around the world (and especially, it seems, in the US) :)

They are presently between exhibitions, which meant that only 2 galleries were open. On the other hand, it was only 5 zl to get in! We enjoyed visiting as a way to clear our heads after a more dense museum experience at the Schindler factory next door. I wouldn't recommend it as a destination on its own unless more exhibits are open (check online before you go.)

I'm not an art aficionado, an this place was a little too far removed for my taste. I felt like the exhibitions were too disconnected to maintain any sense of coherence within them. It was hard to find two of four viewing rooms for a cinema exhibition and the modern display of Japanese work was just too disparate. I also felt that the curation lacked a common strain between pieces. The building itself is also not entirely inspiring as an architectural project. On the flip side, student discount is 5 PLN so it is worth taking a peek inside if only for an hour or so if you're around!

Free on Tuesday! It's a nice way to get out of the cold and see some contemporary art. The exhibit isn't huge, just enough too keep you interested. Of course there is better, but this wasn't bad. I enjoyed myself.

Interesting collection but to be honest, I've seen better contemporary museums around the world. I've found the curation of the exhibition rather boring, very lineal. Cricoteka is much better museum in town. Still, if you have nothing better to do, it's free entrance on Tuesdays.
