"For a bit of history and culture, head down to Kalakuta Museum, located in the building that once housed the legendary king of afrobeat himself, Fela Kuti. It is also the compound Fela had declared as the Kalakuta Republic, an independent state away from Nigeria. While a bit far from all the other spots on this list, it is definitely worth the trip for a greater understanding of Lagos's past."

Grew up here so this place definitely feels like home. The rooftop bar gives a beautiful scenery of the neighborhood the great legend lived in before he passed away. The ambience is one you’d definitely bask in.

I specifically love the bar, located at the rooftop of the building. It has beautiful urban jungle scenery. Perfect spot for hanging out with friends.

We didn't get to go past the reception as the fee was 7.5K per head as against 2K that we saw on the internet (not their website)and we didn't want to spend that amount per head. We took pictures on the premises though

The center is a wonderful place to learn about the legend of Afrobeats and its rich history. However, the management really needs to improve customer service, particularly at the front desk. There’s a young lady there—always in a scarf—who consistently comes across as rude and unfriendly. During my visit, I paid 8,000 naira for a 7,500 naira tour and expected 500 naira change. Instead of handling it politely, she raised her voice and repeatedly told me she doesn't have change, making no effort to find the change and sounded more like if I didn’t have the exact amount I could leave. This kind of attitude is disappointing and doesn’t reflect well on such a great establishment. Proper customer service training is highly recommended. Let me know if you'd like a more casual or stronger tone.

Lovely place to visit if you are a fan of the legend Fela. The tour guide was a sweet soul, too. And they have great accommodation for those who want to stay overnight. Nothing fantastic, but it's just right.
