Darling

Had an absolutely amazing time at Darling with their fresh ingredients and farm-to-table style food. They’re more of a wine forward restaurant, so expect to see some cool and funky wines on their menu. Our server was awesome at explaining the choices to us. Their beef carpaccio was delicious and had the right amount of beef flavour and seasoning. Their house bread was decent, but not a highlight. I definitely recommend getting the steak, when in Alberta, you might as well! Overall, had a very fun night here and would recommend checking them out. Reservations are highly recommended!

Cozy interior, and comfortable. Food was quite good, definitely fresh and quite rich in flavours. Drinks were also not too overbearing and had a refreshing flavour. I'd come here again if they make the feature a permanent item it was so good!

We had such a great experience. The steak was honestly one of the best I’ve had. The scallop crudo was fresh and beautifully done, and the croquettes were delicious. Everything paired so well with the wine we chose. The service was attentive and welcoming without feeling stuffy. The whole place has such a warm, lively energy. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend checking it out!

I took my darling to Darling, and darling, I was to him no more ... We had high hopes for this place and were greeted with excellent service and ambiance. Often, one is served one or two B or C dishes; Darling delivered nothing but F’s all evening. Dinner Menu: 1. Oysters ($24): Delicious, if comically tiny. 2. Beef Carpaccio & (some fancy grain) focaccia ($30): The rawness of the beef was overwhelming. Carpaccio needs a citrusy twist, as most raw meats do. Beautifully plated and deeply forgettable. The focaccia broke my heart - possibly the worst I’ve tasted. Lifeless, bland, boring. 3. Housemade Pipe Doppia Pasta ($27): Resounding 0/10 An impressive failure on all fronts. Awful tasting, awful smelling; nothing worked on this plate. Watery, tasteless sauce; oddly flavoured, undercooked (“al dente”) pasta. How could you mess up peas? 4. Coulotte Steak (12 oz) ($39): Cooked to perfection, then decimated by a strange, aggressively spicy, yet flavourless chimichurri sauce. 5. Chocolate Tart ($14): Why was it warm? Creamy, fluffy desserts should not be served near melted – and, I don’t care what anyone says, that paper-thin biscuit buried beneath is not a tart. Darling, it is rarely a good idea to complicate that which you haven’t mastered. Good food doesn’t need to be this complex. Return to basics: ditch the fancy flour you use to make the focaccia and the Chimichurri sauce you learned how to make last week. And please, introduce peas to a hot pan with some olive oil and garlic. Seeing our disappointment, the steak and dessert were comped - a gesture I appreciated, having returned home hungry. 9th Jan 2026

We spent a couple of hours at Darling while attending an event, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Calvin and Laurie provided amazing, genuinely warm service that made us feel welcome right away. The food was truly the highlight, expertly prepared, full of flavor, and absolutely memorable. We also appreciated the excellent wine suggestion, which complemented the meal perfectly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy the event. We would definitely come again and highly recommend Darling.

Great service, waiter was very attentive. Food tasted great. I ordered sablefish and as per picture, point subtracted for how overwhelming the corn is that there was barely any zucchini on the advertised succotash.

A cool, fancy, little “hole in the wall” restaurant with great ambience, wonderful service, and punchy flavours. The food was great, very creative and very well-seasoned with bold and interesting flavour profiles. We sat at the bar and our server Jess was knowledgeable and friendly, helping us with some suggestions for dishes and attentive to our drinks and each of our “first bites” to ensure we were happy. One of the best carpaccios we have had in the city so far, the linguine is a must, sablefish was cooked perfectly, and the anchovy toast was an umami flavour bomb (don’t be scared of this one- GET IT)! We also tried the croquette, and fennel salad which were both also very punchy and creative. Would highly recommend Darling if you like bold, creative dishes with a contemporary Canadian framework. Edit: came back January 2026- all dishes were different but JUST as good! Will come back again! We ordered the croquettes and whipped ricotta toast to start, then the credo and carpaccio and finished with the salmon (that replaced the sablefish). All great flavours and delicious. Perfectly seasoned, great flavours- only complaint would be salmon was a touch overcooked for us (probably fine for everyone else!). someone knows what they’re doing in the back!

Cute little fancy restaurant.. Phenomenal food and service. We tried the Croquettes, Whipped ricotta toast, Tuna crudo, ragu pasta and Sablefish. Each and every dish was delicious and so fresh. Love the fact that they have a very small menu but everything on the menu is just perfect. Will definitely come again..

Went here with a friend for dinner. In general it was good..some things were excellent and some things were okay. The atmosphere was nice. It had a lot of green tones which were relaxing. Nice place to chat with friends. Service was also good. Server was prompt, friendly and kind. Food though was hit and miss. The citrus fennel salad was our favourite thing on the menu. Fresh, full of flavour and plentiful. It had a variety of textures and flavours. I would highly reccomend this. The special of the day was aranchini was also very tasty The beef carpacio however was very bland. The pasta was okay tasting but cold and nothing to write home about. Dessert was a cormeal blueberry cake. This was tasty but a little dry. In general it was a nice evening, but really they need to improve on the quality of food.

Wonderful wine bar and restaurant in the south on 82 Ave. Service is great and personable. Sound level is good for conversation. Dishes are meant for sharing. We ordered 5 dishes and 2 desserts for 4 people and every dish was a winner. Anchovy toast w pickled lemon sat atop a crunchy toast. The taste profile was perfect. I could have eaten a full plate! Next was carpaccio w hazelnuts and pickled butternut squash and pea shoots. So good we had two plates. Buratta w beets and blood orange was creamy and delicious on chewy bread. Miso cod was cooked well - still fork tender and moist on bok choy w pickles to give a kick. The desserts were wonderful - sorbet was berry w sage and candied almonds. The other was lime meringue served in a cute bowl. Creamy and w crunchy crust. They also had a wine of the day and a good selection of alcohol-free drinks. Try the alcohol free sangria. Yummy. Definitely a place to impress your date or spouse or friends. Just be comfortable w sharing. :) technically, they have the miso cod and steak that could serve as a traditional entree and just order a few apps to start for a more traditional meal if that's your fancy.

This is a great little wine bar on the east side of 82 Ave. Meals are served tapas-style and meant to be shared. They have a good selection of vegetarian options but not much for vegans. My friend and I shared the rotating croquettes (apparently they are different every night), the roasted beet and blood orange burrata served with homemade sourdough, and the olives. The burrata was my favourite by far. I also finished the night with their rotating sorbet and it was the perfect way to end the meal. Service was excellent and the featured wine was $10 a glass. What's not to love about that?

We had a lovely evening here celebrating a 40 th birthday. There isn't a children's menu but the chef made papardelle with butter for the two youngsters in our group. We tried all the vegetarian options as two of our group are vegetarian and it was a sharing menu .... My favourites were the roasted beet dip and the brassica salad .... Both full of flavour and seasoned to perfection. All the options were interesting flavour combinations that tasted great. The rye bread had a great texture and was tasty. We tried all three desserts. The fennel cake had an interesting black licorice flavour that was complemented very nicely by the rhubarb. The chocolate one was nice but the raspberry sorbet with chili oil wasn't to my taste. Service was good. Wine selection was interesting and had some unusual choices which we enjoyed. A very nice birthday celebration.

Came in on Saturday night with short notice and was able to get a reservation. We were greeted promptly and asked if it was our first time there (which it was). They explained their concept on focus of natural wines. Their menu was small yet mighty. We opted for a barssica salad which was large in portion! The flavours were so rich it was one of our top dishes. The miso cod which was on the top tomato list was cooked perfect as the fish flaked off. The pasta was not too heavy but because the pasta was quite thin it was a bit soft as I prefer more al dente but flavours/texture were all there. Washrooms were clean and bright which is as a bonus!

Darling is a newish (2 month old), tapas style spot located East of Whyte Ave. They have a gorgeous patio, and the inside is completely renovated as well. Our service was prompt, and servers were attentive all evening. We tried a huge variety of the menu, & the tables top favourites were the oysters, burrata, steak, & salad. Their patio, is a complete vibe & I would suggest hanging out there and just enjoying a tapas style meal with a good group of friends (who aren't in a rush btw).

The food was delicious. It's definitely a place for a special occasion meal as it's on the more expensive side.

Food was awesome, afternoon table service pleasant not special. Ambiance ... would love to experience this restaurant in the evening. New restaurant/natural wine bar.... Check it out! 96th Str. & 82nd Av. Edmonton. $$

Great little spot, tucked away and easy to miss. Cozy patio! Food was super, service wonderful... Ironically didn't have a chance to try their wines!
