"Anthropologists will especially enjoy the Museum of Ethnology that explores the 54 officially recognized ethnic peoples of Vietnam. Exhibits include a brief primer on each group and information about their folkways; in the museum’s 10 acres of grounds, there are additionally replicas of dwellings that visitors can enter. For those with an interest in textiles, the varied designs and techniques of Vietnam’s different ethnicities will be fascinating. There are also water-puppetry performances on weekends."

This is such a great museum! They have a lovely but not overwhelming selection of artefacts that showcases Vietnam's ethnic groups and a separate building that houses thoughtfully selected pieces that showcases Southeast Asia and East Asia history and culture. The display texts were well-researched, well-written and the translation was good (not sure about the French text but the English text were). There is even a small gallery that showcased traditional handmade toys and showed an attempt to preserve that. Overall, the museum shows a lot of thought and effort that went into the research and display of items.

The museum has 1 old building and 1 modern building for Southeast Asia and Korean exhibition. If u come with a guide, it's possible u will only end up in the old building since the entire building is dedicated to Vietnamese exhibition. Most of the objects shown in this museum are not antiques and they're just replicas made in 20th century. It's okay to spend half a day here to learn the culture but not the one that will give u 'Wow'.

Really interesting museum full of beautiful clothes, objects and items from Vietnam's many ethnic groups. Labels in English and french as well as Vietnamese were clear and informative and the exhibits very well laid out. The highlight is the garden full of indigenous houses and buildings. Well worth the trip out from the centre!

Very interesting museum about the different ethnologies of Vietnam. The highlights are the little villages and houses which you can enter. You'll get an impression about the way of living and the culture. There was also a special (temporar?) exhibition about the mid-autumn festival inside the building. Highly recommend to visit if you are in Hanoi.

Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is a very interesting and well organised museum that shows the cultures of Vietnam’s many ethnic groups. The indoor exhibits are informative, and the outdoor traditional houses are a highlight. Easy to walk around, educational, and worth visiting in Hanoi.

This museum about the ethnologies of Vietnam is very interesting, giving you an insight on the many ethnic groups and how they lives. The best parts are the houses you can enter, including that massive one, where I sat and it was so peaceful. There was also a temporary exhibition about the mid-autumn festival inside. Definitely recommend if you are in Hanoi.

Not many tourists know this place. Most visitors were local (I think they're students) taking photos in traditional outfits. It's quite nice to visit because it's not crowded like most tourist spots in Hanoi.

Love this place! Very informational on the cultural practices and rituals of different ethnic groups. Love to see all the artifacts and house models. The experience climbing into different stilt houses was also memorable. Very well organized and enjoyable ! Highly Recommended !
