I do not know why anyone would choose to stay anywhere else in Honfleur. Every aspect of our stay was absolutely perfect. From our warm welcome, the impeccable décor, perfect location, to a wonderful departing breakfast.
We arrived and were warmly greeted by a lovely woman who showed us around, explained the history of the house, and showed us to our room. We had the room on the top floor and a gentleman helped us with our luggage to the top floor. (I felt bad as our bags were heavy to due the length of our trip and eventually traveling from a cool climate to a warm climate requiring different types of clothes.) We loved the winding staircase up to our room. Our room had beautiful views of the rooftops of Honfleur but the best was the bathroom. The huge clawfoot tub was a welcome sight after such a long day of travel. The stained glass, towel warmer, light switches, and bathroom products added the perfect finishing touches. We slept so well on the bed with the windows open to the fresh air. (I did not look for a/c as it was not needed during our stay. I would guess there is none.)
Its location is a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the main square of town, so you are close to everything you want to see but away from the noise. There is also a lovely antique store just down and around a corner. When we returned from our exploration, there were beautiful vases of fresh flowers everywhere including our room.
We sadly did not have time to enjoy the jacuzzi, but we will be sure to make time on another visit. We had dinner at L'Art du Bistrot (fantastic by the way) and upon return, the equally as lovely different woman who was manning the desk for the evening allowed us time to enjoy a glass of rosé in the living area before heading to bed for the night.
The next morning we sat down to the most perfect and delicious petit déjeuner. Our cappuccinos were delicious and the best of our entire trip. The downside - it ruined every other breakfast we had the rest of our time in the Normandy region. Ha.
My only complaint - we only stayed one night. If possible, plan for at least two. It's a great area to make a base to see Étretat and other inner areas of Normandy before heading west to the beaches. Merci for a wonderful stay. We can't wait to return on another trip.
