Bread & Roses Bakery

Spelt chocolate chip cookie was AMAZING. I meant to take a picture but ate it too fast so here is the wrapper. We also got some rosemary foccacia & some jalapeño cheddar foccacia. Both were excellent. Plenty of fluffy air holes for butter to melt into.

I have been searching for multi-grain croissants for quite a while in Ottawa. I found success at this bakery. They were very delicious. Flaky & soft. They also offer a vast selection of bread & pastries. They do baking right !

My partner and bought their cheddar jalapeño bread from The Butchery in Bellscorners and it was delicious! We went back a few times but they were usually sold out. We decided we needed to go straight to the source, so we took a drive to the Bread and Roses and bought two loafs and a few other baked goods. We were very impressed with the friendly service! The staff member Audrey was very kind. Update: the baked goods were disappointing. We got a red velvet pumpkin spice chocolate chip cookie, a pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese frosting and a croissant with cream and raspberry filling. The cookie was dry, not enough chocolate chips in my opinion and lacking in pumpkin pie flavour. The pumpkin pie cake and croissant were also dry. It was quite disappointing given the $7.99 price point for the croissant. I definitely recommend their bread but I don’t think I’ll be getting anymore sweet baked goods. The bakery seems to have a lot of options, perhaps they need to retire some of the less popular items for better quality control.

I went to pick up my order today which was a Strawberry shortcake (whole cake) for my late birthday celebration with my family. I've been very happy with Bread & Roses, even recommend this bakery shop to my family, friends and even my neighbours. The staff were excellent, very friendly. I moved 45 mins away from the bakery shop, still I had my heart for this cake. But after 6 years ordering the same cake for my birthday, this time the quality and the taste is not the same anymore. The sponge cake tastes like cheap, the icing is not the same, the strawberry on top of the cake is disappointing. The price went up, but the quality of the cake, changed. First picture of the cake is how it used to be, the second picture is what we got today. I hope in the future the cake will go back to the same quality again.

I really like this place and we've been there a dozen times before as they usually are great but today it was a disaster. They have hot air blasting on the only three small tables; bakeries are understandably too hot to begin with why blast hot air right onto the customers? We order samosas and sausage rolls to eat in. I asked to have them heated up, but I was told to use the microwave behind us. The microwave was filthy inside with foods leftover from whomever used it last. I asked for a plate but was told they didn't have any. So, I heated them up in the paper bags. How do you eat a samosa without a plate, with your hands? Samosas are hot and they break apart so are not a "finger food". Then I asked for spoons for the soup; and I was told they were were beside the microwave, but I said they were out of spoons and was told a second time that they were by the microwave. I had to ask a third time, pointing at the empty spoon tray before someone got us spoons. After we ate, we tried putting our trash in the only garbage can we could find but the opening of the garbage can was too small for the soup bowls (see photos). Lastly, there is no formal ordering counter and all counter tops between the staff and the clients have stuff piled on to about 4-5 feet so you have to peer left or right to be able to see the staff; I know this is a small, independently-owned business that cannot afford elaborate renovations, but even a sign that said, "ORDER HERE" would help. We will go back because the food is usually very good, but we will never plan to eat inside again.

I attend this bakery quite often before dropping off my son at daycare, and they're always so friendly, and the food and coffee is delicious! It's a highlight of our day.

The owner is so fantastic and very knowledgeable. She will take the time to go through the ingredients of things for you. They also have good vegan options. All their patties and bread are vegan along with 3 dessert options

Good variety of snacks , pastries and breads at this local family-owned bakery ! Excellent and friendly service too. The only complaint is there is no music at all , and the fridges make very loud mechanical and humming sounds.

I enjoy a stop in this bakery. It has a wide selection of bakery items, granola, local coffee, frozen entrees and desserts. I often find myself grabbing more than one item when I stop in here or grab dessert after eating at Cats Fish and Chips which is located next door. Today I came in for a small snack of a coconut and pecan square and a cafe latte. Not the biggest fan of their latte as they have a generic espresso machine but it makes for a decent pair with one of their bakery items. I picked up some treats for my family including pecan butter tarts, lemon tarts and a Nutella roll. There are way too many options to decide on. They also have day old items at 50%. There is ample parking but the location is great for locals or if you are in the neighborhood of manor park or are at the aviation museum

Popped in the other day. First off - what an amazing smelling place. It's awesome to pop in just to be immersed in the amazing bakery smell. It was so good that I walked out with 3 loaves (braided white, jalapeño/cheddar sourdough and a day old seedy grain bread) as well as a couple desserts (a chocolate cake and a cookie). Altogether it cost about 20 bucks. The Breads were pretty good - although the white and the seed bread to be a touch on the dry side. The jalapeño/cheddar was excellent - quite spicy actually. And the desserts were very good. Altogether - very good and we would definitely return.

I am so happy I found this bakery. Located by the Aviation Parkway, it is a bit tough to get into the parking lot during the busy traffic times, which is almost always on this street, but it is well worth it. They offer a great selection of gluten free products marked GF so you do not have to play any guessing games, as well as non gluten free breads and pastries. The hubby and I picked up a GF chocolate chip cookie which was good, but not the best cookie I ever had. We also picked up a chocolate coconut square bar and it was FANTASTIC, melt in your mouth, buttery, goodness. Lastly, we picked up some fresh garlic garlic bread, which was white bread, with olive and garlic baked on top. It was heaven, and I will admit, I ate half of it already. The atmosphere was inviting. There is seating both inside and outside. I am just obsessed. I forgot to mention we also picked up frozen pizza dough which I am so excited to try tomorrow! Will be back!

Such yummy baked goods! I'm a frequent customer as I live down the street. I come here for lunch and have the bacon cheddar Panini on their fresh baked sourdough breads. SO YUM. I don't even have to tell them what I want, they just ask if I want the usual. I've tried the muffins, croissants, squares, cakes and breads. Everything is good.
