"The Riverwalk: Fun for Everyone Stretching 2.4 miles along the Garrison Channel and Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa, the Riverwalk is a paved path perfect for walking, jogging, or biking along the beautiful waterfront of Tampa. Landscaped parks and sculpture gardens provide spots to sit and enjoy the view. Children's playgrounds give the little ones a place to play. Interpretive signage and artwork explain the history and culture of Tampa. The Riverwalk connects many downtown attractions, including the Florida Aquarium at one end and the Straz Performing Arts Center on the other."

The Tampa Riverwalk is truly one of the best places to enjoy the beauty of the city. It’s clean, safe, and perfect for a relaxing walk any time of day. The views of the water are stunning, especially around sunset, and there are plenty of spots to stop, sit, and just take it all in. What I love most is how lively the Riverwalk feels—families, visitors, joggers, couples, everyone enjoying the atmosphere. There are great restaurants, parks, and attractions along the way, so you can make a whole day out of it. Whether you’re out for exercise, sightseeing, or just a peaceful stroll, the Riverwalk never disappoints. A must-visit if you’re in Tampa. Highly recommended!

Google
Great place to take a stroll in Tampa and really take in some of the beauty the city has to offer. The City of Tampa keeps this area very clean and there are tons of paid public parking with access to the river walk. It's also easy to get off the river walk and walk deeper into the city to eat at a local restaurant. The only reason why I'm giving this 4 stars is because, despite how clean and beautiful it is, my wife and I walked through too many people smoking weed on the walk at night. There was also a few stops where we saw homeless people sleeping on a bench or on a patch of grass nearby. This really takes away from the experience and makes the walk feel less family-friendly when taking a stroll at night. I didn't see a single security guard or officer in sight to enforce rules otherwise.

Just moved here from Atl...best decision eve!!! Environment and casual, laid back vibe AND GROWING is definitely the game changer and motivator. Great place to be!!

Google
Beautiful spot for a walk — clean, safe, and full of energy! Great views of the river, cafes along the way, and perfect for an evening stroll or sunset photos 🌇

Google
Very peaceful walk. Runners are running. Cyclist are cycling. Boats are rowing. Restaurants are superb! So much to see on this walk!

Google
Awesome place to stretch your legs and go for a run or walk. Cool to see the cruise ships nearby, kids were stoked to see them. Tons of shops available for drinks, food nearby. Parking was a bit tricky with the construction.

Google
Absolutely stunning walk! Very clean, friendly people and wonderful view. I feel very safe around the area, and it’s one of those places I could sit and stare at the water at for hours. If you’re staying at one of the hotels along it, it’s extremely convenient and a fun way to kill time at night. You can also see fish in the water!

Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking views of downtown Tampa. We went during the middle of night because we couldn’t sleep. Saw a couple of homeless in the park which police and security were ushering them out but other then the homeless this area is beautiful

Yelp
What a pleasant experience!! We are here visiting from out of state and decided to explore the riverwalk. It just so happened to be the night of the boat parade. There were hundreds of people along the riverwalk watching the spectacular experience. There were boats decked out with Christmas decor, and music playing to ensure the crowd is entertained! Cool experience!

Yelp
Love the river walk!! Such an essential part of Tampa & it's downtown life. If you need exercise, or want to a lovely view of parts of the city or University of Tampa, or want to check out some events there's usually always something going on here. The riverwalk goes an impressively long ways if you are willing to follow. All the way from Armature Works, across the bridge into downtown along the Hillsborough River. One downside is that as you get closer to the downtown, there's not much for shade. So when it's muggy and crazy hot as it is like half the year in FL, it's not near as enjoyable walking or running here. However, it's still such a great way to be outside and immerse yourself in the city. Sometimes you can even see dolphins or fish swimming along in the water. There's also a lot of art and history along certain parts of the path. You can find statues of significant Tampa figures, many of them women & women of color (whoop whoop), as well as art installations from local artists.

Yelp
Nice place for a walk and people watch. Many many different places to choose to eat and view is nice!
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite places to walk! The scenery, view, calmness of it all. Not to mention the yummy restaurants you pass on your walk. It's even more beautiful in the evening or at night! Sometimes my walks end up as a brunch, or drunk jog. Either way, definitely worth the stroll.

Yelp
Amazing, calm and very convenient. Late night strolls are great this time of the year.

Yelp
We love this trail. I think I walked it the first time when I was at the State Thespian convention and I had some time to myself. It is a beautiful trail, right on the river. It takes you past the convention center, Glazer Children's museum, and other places. Very scenic, and always has a breeze.

Yelp
A beautiful place to walk, run or bike. At night it's gorgeous all lit up. After reading the reviews I was expecting a bunch of restaurants and bars but they are really few and far between. The water taxis are fun but they close very early. 9 on a Saturday night. If you are into architectural design there are many old buildings to enjoy
google avatar

Kiamiah S.

Yelp
I was in the area and decided to see. Where everyone was walking to it was such a beautiful day. Turns out they had a duck race going on never have I ever saw that it was really packed and the families seem to love it.

Yelp
The Tampa Riverwalk connects the Downtown riverfront parks, museums, attractions and businesses creating an outdoor destination and building a nice sense of community. This popular 2.6 mile path along the Hillsborough River offers a scenic way to explore the downtown area of Tampa. It is free to enter and use. People are walking, biking, rollerblading and enjoying the atmosphere. We had lunch at Ulele restaurant and afterwards took a nice stroll on the riverwalk in the Armature Works area. There are several activities on the water as well.

Yelp
The River walk was a pretty cool attraction/ park/ Good Eats! Walking and water play! We decided to go out there on a Sunday and I'm not sure if the food trucks are always out there but they had plenty to eat! Parking was free for us because we lucked up and found a great spot without a meter. We ended up grabbing a bit to eat at Bap Bap which is Korean street food, but there were several available options. Also the taxi boat, offered 18 stops for $25 per person and is definitely a must try!

Yelp
I could not wait to visit the Tampa Riverwalk. We got lost trying to find the exact location. We walked it for a little and looked out over the water. I can see the river walk being a hang out location at night.
google avatar

Janice K.

Yelp
This is a great place to visit in downtown Tampa Bay. It's clean and you feel safe walking there even at night. I loved walking along the water and people watching. There were multiple water taxis in case you get tired.
google avatar

Taryn C.

Yelp
Tampa Riverwalk is a great way to get around the city of Tampa without having to travel between buildings all while viewing the sights of the river. We walked in the afternoon and it was not too busy. There were a couple of homeless individuals gathering near the USF side of the riverwalk but they were just hangin. A little construction in Jan 2025 but can't wait to see the finished product.
google avatar

Yelp
The Tampa Riverwalk is the perfect spot to get outdoors and enjoy some fresh air. It's pet-friendly, scenic, and great for a relaxing walk or run. Surrounded by tons of restaurants and bars, it's also a fun place to grab a bite or drink with a view. You may even get a visit from some of the marine life like we did on our walk. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Tampa!
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
Did not walk the entire length of the riverwalk, but was for sure super nice, scenic, and helped me digest my lunch. It's a pretty popular spot for people to bike, walk, and run, but not super busy like the Brooklyn Bridge. Highly recommend the visit.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Nice riverwalk but its not as amazing as I thought it would be. Maybe its because I went during the day vs at night. I went on a sunday afternoon for a nice walk and it was on the slow side which was great for me because I didn't want to deal with a crowd.

Yelp
This is a lovely walk along the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa. I was there in November 2023 for a conference and enjoyed using the riverwalk to go from the Hilton Downtown Tampa to the Convention Center (which is right along the path). It's about a 12 minute walk one-way. The riverwalk is open from sunrise until 10:00pm. During the day, you may see joggers or bikers - so be sure to stay to one side if you're walking and pay attention. Along the way, you'll see nice views of the river, a mangrove swamp with pelicans (in the early hours), and sunset casting a warm glow on the tall buildings of downtown Tampa. Would highly recommend this pedestrian-friendly riverwalk on your visit to Tampa. It's less stressful walking along the river than crossing the busy road intersection near the north side of the Convention Center.

Yelp
Beautiful place to walk during the day or at night. Well maintained, easy to navigate and a wide spacious walking area. Met some kind folks who take very good care of the stray cats in the area. Enjoy the history that's around as well.
google avatar

Tammy R.

Yelp
A Beautiful and scenic Riverwalk. We hit the Tampa History museum and ate at the Colombia Cafe. All in walking distance from our hotel. Very pretty views and it's also very clean.
google avatar

Yelp
(From March, 2022) I got so lucky staying at the hotel I was at since I got to walk/jog along here every day during my stay. The views of the water/bay is breathtaking itself with the wind blowing in your face and seeing everyone doing their thing. I've walked all the way from downtown to the market on the east side which covers about nearly 3 miles if my calculation is correct. You can also rent scooters here to bolster your trek time. As you trek further east, there's some vendors that serve beer and snacks so you can drink and eat while you continue on the riverwalk. You must do this when you're in Tampa. Don't even question it. Even if you hate exercise, get on here and walk the path!
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
It is stunning at night. It would be nice to have a few small coffee places or small places to eat closer to it. We love taking out of town guests there.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
Fun, lots of places things to do, people and puppy watch...yes dog friendly. Take an hour or two to look over the river and breathe.

Yelp
The Tampa Riverwalk is a great place to walk, bike, skate, eat, or just sit and enjoy the view.

Yelp
I decided to for a walk and check out the Riverwalk and I am glad I did despite being tired. This is a wonderful scenic walk and a must-stop if you are in the area. It was great to see couples and families enjoying the area. The music, the Christmas lights, the ice rink, and the beautiful views all made for a wonderful special time.
google avatar

Miguel R.

Yelp
Absolutely love coming here and walking. I bring my dog as often as I can. I love that there are two parks on the path and that there is a park with live music on weekends. You have armeture works on one end and the taxi it's just a great Tampa location
google avatar

Nicole J.

Yelp
Walk. Run. Bike ride. This is a great spot in Tampa to enjoy the sites. Lots of restaurants along the way. But no shops if you're looking for shopping. You can catch the trolley get off by the war and that's the start. It's pretty long so pay attention to how far you're going if you need to turn around and come back.
google avatar

Stephen W.

Yelp
This Riverwalk is 2.6 miles long, very clean and well-maintained. We were there in December 2023 and it was not crowded at all. Very enjoyable to stroll along the river. Fun to look at ships as they pass, or near the Convention Center there are yachts to wish were yours. The Walk passes by numerous tourist attractions as well as restaurants and shops. Near water taxi stop 7/Convention Center there is a small playground for kids. Very relaxing way to spend some time in the nice weather.
google avatar

Erica G.

Yelp
I personally love the Tampa Riverwalk, it's a nice long walk, verity of sights to see the river is pretty it's definitely a good amount of people that walk, run, jog and walk their pets. It's foods and snacks around the many areas.
google avatar

Hanan T.

Yelp
Tampa Riverwalk is a must see! Nice waterfront views. Water Taxi's are cool. Cute romantic paddle boats for couples. It's very family walking friendly
google avatar

Lara T.

Yelp
Can't say enough great things about the riverwalk and what an amazing addition to Tampa. There's plenty to do at the riverwalk, biking, jogging, dog walking with plenty of restaurants and bars along the way with some of my favorites at Armature works. They've really done a great job. Especially when the weather is a little cooler, it's gorgeous, great views of the city and the water. Highly recommend a nice walk down the riverwalk.
google avatar

Jenny M.

Yelp
We decided to check out this spot, we went during the day, lunch time, and when the sun was at its PEAK, roughly 1000 degrees outside. There were many folks taking an afternoon stroll, some enjoying the bay view, and others out with friends skating, cycling, or jogging. I've heard this place is beautiful at night, with all the lights, but during the day, you enjoy the breeze under the shade and seeing others kayaking or on their boats. It's honestly nothing out of this world, but it's a good spot to quickly visit when you have time to spare and enjoy the fresh air.
google avatar

Britney M.

Yelp
Tampa riverwalk is definitely one of the top places I recommend people to visit if they are visiting Tampa because the view is very pretty and it is just a good spot to go chill there with friends. They have a really good Colombian restaurant somewhere on the walk too, and it is also a really nice place to ride bikes or scooters. Their is a view of university of Tampa on the other side of the river
google avatar

Yelp
The good: Excellent views of the Tampa river interesting sights and good exercise. The bad: Way too many bikers, popping wheelies, almost hitting people, going too fast. Dangerous AF. Dog crap on the sidewalk watch out The weird: Approached by a young man who asked me if I believe in God. Prepare yourself for an existential crises while taking a brisk walk. Most interesting path to walk in Tampa, but controlling the bike traffic and more security would make this an excellent experience.

Yelp
Literally the best thing since sliced bread! You can eat, you can drink, you can walk, ride a bike, skateboard, scooter around....you can arrive at some points by boat! You can bring dogs, you can bring kids, you can meet groups or just hang out by yourself. You can do exercise classes, see the orchestra play. You can sit in the sun by yourself and enjoy the view, the water... It is never quiet, however, so don't expect that. From The Sail to the Straz to Armature Works.... to the Pirate Taxi and the water view and the accessibility from Channelside to just north of downtown....this place is the best edition to our downtown EVER! The parts that would bring this down a 1/2 star if I was feeling poopy - parking costs $5 Thursday - Sunday (I'm grateful it's free Monday - Wednesday), the bartendress at Stones Throw was not wearing a mask on Tuesday afternoon, people are sometimes way too close to you on the walk/bike path - they need to learn how to walk around you rather than breathing down your neck (not the RiverWalk's fault)... and the last thing is those who walk, ride or whatever with a loud speakers or phones blaring with music or anything else that NO ONE ELSE WANTS TO HEAR! THIS IS WHY HEADPHONES WERE INVENTED! Rant over. I love this place! Don't tell anyone else about it.

Yelp
Definitely a must see if you're in Tampa. Lots of friendly people on the riverwalk and it is dog friendly as well. You can walk, run, bike, take scooters, rollerblade; there's parks to play at and water taxis to take. There was a lot of good vibes and good sights to see with little detours on the riverwalk. We walked a lot on here on our trip to Tampa. We would start at Armature works and went all the way into downtown and had some lovely meals there. We pretty much walked there everyday on our 5 day trip to Tampa. Perfect place for date night, family time or even alone time. Plenty of open and covered sections and also benches where you can sit and rest up. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I've seen a fair share of river walks, but Tampa's is by far the best one I've visited so far. It's beautifully lit at night, clean, plenty of seating, if that's desired. There's a spot designated for honoring military personnel and their families....it's really tastefully done! There weren't a lot of threatening looking, sketchy people, I felt really safe! Nice job, city of Tampa!
google avatar

Latrice A.

Yelp
Love this , I believe it covers of over 2 miles on this riverwalk at the end you will find over 9 different eateries and bars I love Florida , strongly considering relocating soon Anytime I were im must visit the popular Attractions since it was close to my place of residence it was perfect Lots exercise opportunities people watching and fresh air and social distancing bring followed that was a plus Breathtaking views from the pier and rooftop bars music and a cool place to chill

Yelp
It's a beautiful 2.5 miles long pedestrian walk trail through Tampa Downtown. We were on a vacation and were staying near the Riverwalk on Waterstreet. We felt good being able to walk every day with such good river views. There are eatery and drink places along the way if one wants to take a break.
google avatar

Meredith L.

Yelp
The walk started out boring, but after you reach the half way point it livens up.....I definitely recommend the rocket boat ride at night!
google avatar

Vlad V.

Yelp
I had a conference in Tampa and made a vacation out of it too. I hit up the Tampa Riverwalk twice and it's a great part of town to hang out. There are a ton of cool bars and restaurants in the area, green space/parks, and great views while you walk around the riverwalk. There are also plenty of benches and seating if you want to take a break. It's really cool to visit at night too as the riverwalk lights up.

Louise C.

Yelp
amazing place beautiful place very furbaby friendly scenery is amazing. great eateries
google avatar

Saphir S.

Yelp
The Riverwalk is definitely a highlight of living in South Tampa. You can walk from Armature Works to Sparkman Wharf along a paved walkway with views of the river, downtown, UT's campus, and the bay. There are bars and restaurants along parts of the riverwalk if you want to take a leisurely stroll with some food breaks. I don't necessarily recommend walking here in the middle of a warm, sunny day because there isn't much shelter from the sun. Bring your giant hat and sunglasses! For those less interested in walking the Riverwalk, you can pick up a water taxi from various spots along the river.

Jeff L.

Yelp
Best in town, had a great time there. In night this turns to be a piece of heaven. I'd recommend a refreshment center near it. 10/10 for families and small kids as well to spend quality time.
google avatar

Jeremy J.

Yelp
There's a nice fun Riverwalk that my family and I did when we were in Tampa. We start at one end walked the whole thing saw the beautiful river we solve all the cool sides and statues that has to offer it takes you buy a gator hoe that has upon with gators in it which is awesome takes you to some scenery takes you to the ocean I'm in the docs of the day it takes you to all kinds of cool places for sure so this is definitely a fun walk that you have to do when you're in Tampa in Tampa
google avatar

Denise P.

Yelp
Beautiful walk along the river, access to hotels and restaurants. Only thing missing is being able to cross the river, unless we just didn't find it
google avatar

Yileydi D.

Yelp
This is a nice relaxing place to spend with family and friends. You can enjoy music, people, and the view of the river is beautiful
google avatar

Erin C.

Yelp
So much to do and just a great place to spend a weekend morning strolling and going to the park .
google avatar

Gloria S.

Yelp
Always my favorite walk and views So long you can access it for miles There are bikers, even police biking patrols, lots of families, dogs on leashes, couples, joggers Lots of water sports and activities you can rent from water group cycling bars with your friends to single motor boats Traffic moves downtown but lots of one way streets and always seems to be construction Usually free trolley nearby and lots of restaurants and hotels along the water So blessed to come every Year for a convention and stay by the water
google avatar

Yelp
The Tampa Riverwalk is exceptional. Living in Tampa Bay is amazing for 2 reasons: 1. The people, kudos to you whomever may be reading this. I think you're real great. 2. THE WATER! It is the greatest blessing in life to live on the water, with water, next to water. SO. MUCH. WATER. In the middle of hustling bustling downtown, the fact that we have an expansive paved trail for biking/strolling/hover boarding/blading/parkour/etc... is frankly, awesome! There's so much to see and enjoy. It is useful for getting from point a to point b. Plenty of entrances and exits. The Riverwalk is faultless in my books.
