Beautiful, breath taking, green, lush, dangerous and unapologetically raw; our December morning swim was a well deserved cold splash and a refreshing treat! I spent my morning climbing up my Malibu Mountains, Escondido Canyon Trail, Malibu. We had to hike about 2.5 miles first just to get to the trail. Then climb the ridge on our hands and feet - BEAR CRAWL- most ways by grappling rocks and trees.
No ropes, harnessing nor clamps! But I wish we had them though because it was very hard and perilous in so many areas. Sliding rocks, mud, water, difficult terrain, slippery trails; many in our party of 10 were highly triggered. Dressed in yoga pants, we thought this would be just a little nature hike for the kids to enjoy. Many had to be helped, consoled and hyped up just to continue. But it just reminded me of STL 😊 and our river trips so I just sang in the sunshine . This made the kids relax and climb while singing. You can't cry and sing at the same time! We taught them it was ok to be scared but it's not ok to let fear keep you from what you want to accomplish. So- Yes we scaled two waterfalls with a 10 month old baby!
Sure we had to slide back down that mountain on our butts but I have good padding there! Yes, I ripped my pants wide open! Yes those rocks made me their wife! You should have seen the amount of rocks, twigs, flora, fauna and dirt embedded there🙃. Super sore ABSOLUTELY everywhere and yet invigorated and empowered! Hey! I'm am good shape y'all! Let's go do it again next weekend!
