"Adjacent to Romney Manor and the Caribelle Batik factory, Wingfield Estate is a former sugar plantation dating back to the mid-1600s. Here, you’ll find ruins of the rare St. Kitts sugar mills, which were powered by water instead of wind. Also on-site are the remains of a stone chimney, a distillery, and an aqueduct system that brought water from the Wingfield River down the slopes of Mount Liamuiga."

Located on an old sugarcane plantation, this establishment has centuries of island history. Your tour guide will provide an in-depth historical overview of Caribbean 'rum making'. The well manicured grounds provide a scenic tour.

The rum tour was absolutely amazing—an experience that blended history, craftsmanship, and flavor in the best way possible. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in the rich heritage of rum-making, learning about its origins, the distillation process, and the meticulous aging techniques that give each batch its unique character. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating details about the ingredients, fermentation, and even the barrels used for aging. Beyond the education, the tour was engaging and interactive, with opportunities to see the production process up close and, of course, sample some exquisite rums. Each tasting highlighted the distinct notes and complexities of different blends, making it an experience for both rum enthusiasts and newcomers alike. By the end of the tour, we walked away not just with a greater appreciation for the spirit but also with unforgettable memories. It was truly a must-do experience!

We loved the tour and tasting at Old Road Rum at Wingfield Estate. Just to state the obvious, this is not the current distillery. It is the historic ruins. We found it extremely interesting and fascinating to hear the process of this massive labor intensive task. Our tour guide was fantastic but I can't remember his name, sorry my friend! The rum itself was delicious! I love traveling and procuring good quality rums everywhere I go. Now to the small and cozy bar in the back... What great bar tender and what delicious cocktails. I HIGHLY recommend the rum sour. I should have taken a photo of the menu to see if I can re-create it back home. If you are a rum fan... I highly recommend this place. You can book the tour directly with them and just grab a taxi ride over there and schedule the taxi driver to pick you up an hour and change later. Thank you Old Road Rum for a great experience!! I can't wait to see it for sale in the US!

The ruins and supporting information is interesting, but it's the beautiful scenery that surrounds it all that makes it even more worthwhile a visit. There are public toilets on site, free parking and a smoothie bar, alcohol bar and depending on the day, some local bbq grills and stalls to get food & fresh fruits from. Surrounded by rainforest and access to some paths that will take you around some of the area, it really is stunning.

Very informative tour. Jermaine (the Guide) did a great job at explaining the process. And the variety of cocktails along with the rum tasting was a nice touch!
