15 Best Hotels in Melbourne | Condé Nast Traveler

"This hugely popular boutique hotel in a former cinema offers sensory overload via neon sculptures, flashing screens, and talking elevators (really). But the generous, well-equipped guest rooms are surprisingly quiet, making the QT a good spot for downtime, too. The QT Melbourne feels like a traditional boutique hotel that's been hit by millions of volts of electricity. It's got character, it's lively, and located close to the best of the city center." - Dan F. Stapleton

We spent 5 nights at the QT Melbourne - it offers an A+ option to generic lodging. We loved the location, the interesting, fun decor, and the helpful, happy staff. Shout out to Concierge Gilbert ( Gillie) Gatdula for his warm welcome, amazing dinner recommendations and overall assistance. At his suggestion, we ate at the hotel restaurant Pasquales ( it was so delicious we had dinner there twice!) He was firm about his other dining suggestions and he was 100% correct-this was acknowledged by a Manhattan couple who adore yummy food and fab atmosphere. Don't miss the|Rooftop deck.

It's a bit surprising when you push the "help me" button of the telephone and the reception does not pick-up the phone, but you need to go down. Luckily no help for an emergency was needed ... The fitness room is quite smelly and small, but at least something is available. The music at the bar on the 11th floor is quite loud, so it might be better to avoid a room on that floor. There is no price list for the mini bar in the room. Attention, that does NOT mean that it's complimentary, but you need to turn on the TV or visit a website to search for the prices ... Unfortunately the windows don't block the noise from outside well. With lights turned off I noticed that there are some blue and red lights that are permanently on, so, the room can't get completely dark.

Everything you could want for a 5 star hotel. Located in the heart of Melbourne, QT left us desiring nothing. The rooms were laid out perfectly maximising space. All clean and functional. The rooftop bar, resturant, and deli were all fantastic also. QT is a gem!

Where's the UNICORN AWARD for hotel staff who are legit friendly at check-in; honour the room requests and preferences on your special occasion booking; and STILL go above and beyond, right through late check out? It's gotta be behind the front desk at the QT Melbourne, where legends like Sarah, GG (Gina), and Ali ensure your anniversary celebration is magical. The QT rooms are fantastic: stylish, comfortable, design details we love, amenities, soundproofed windows that allow for bright, sunny views with hardly any noise late at night, plus the gorgeous rooftop bar -- all the things you can see online for yourself and you really don't need this review to reaffirm for you. So, what takes a hotel from 5 stars to your absolute #1 local favourite is when you check in, and you feel real warmth and friendliness from the staff. The handwritten Happy Anniversary note in the room? Check. Special touches -- even though you're not a member of the hotel chain (like you thought you were)? Also a 5-star factor. But when you check in, and joke about how could the QT top your last (amazing) anniversary visit -- it hits different. You get to your perfect room, start relaxing, and minutes later, Sarah arrives with a GIANT SMILE, SILVER BALLOONS AND A NEON LOVE SIGN! That UNICORN Level kept the vibes high for our whole (too-short) stay, plus the late checkout and lovely chat with Gina (NZ not TX). We hated to leave, but will be back again VERY soon* and OFTEN! ️ ️ ️ ️ * Birthday-versary part 2 coming in hot! 😍

One of my new favourite places to stay in Melbourne! Love the look of the rooms, super clean and the rooftop bar is fantastic. Food was great, bed was comfy and room was spacious. Perfect position to be in the CBD. It felt modern and not washed out like some other hotels we have stayed in. Loved it.

The service at the hotel restaurant was exceptional—attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The QT ribeye steak was a standout: perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and rich with flavor. They even went the extra mile to make my birthday feel special, which truly added a personal touch to the evening. Special thanks to Gilly for the spot-on referral—couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate!

Google
Had an amazing dining experience at Pascale, QT Hotel. The rib eye steak was absolutely outstanding — easily the best I’ve had in Melbourne so far! Perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Huge thanks to Gilly for the warm hospitality and fantastic service — made the night even better. Highly recommend

We went here for dinner and the food was amazing, one of the best ribeye steak I've had! The restaurant has a warm ambiance and the staff are friendly, very good service. Oh and they have a cozy rooftop bar as well. Thanks to Gilly for recommending!

Yelp
Stayed here in July on holiday from the U.S. The staff was phenomenal. I showed up early and they were able to check me in early, which is something that would've never happened back home. The entire hotel and room was too notch. The room had a walk-in shower and was beautiful. The rooftop bar had great Old Fashioned's and prawns. If you're in Melbourne l, this is the only place to stay.

Yelp
A high-style, high-energy property in the CBD of Melbourne. We stayed for two nights while visiting friends in the area in a Deluxe king on the 6th floor. The hotel is high on "hipness" and sports lots of modern touches from the furnishings to the lighting to the music. A bit like a W in the US. We like staying in unique properties with a point of difference and this certainly fit the billl. Our deluxe king was #617 at the end of the very interesting hall with bright colored carpet which created an inviting setting. Our room was comfortable with a large modern bathroom with a number of sliding panels that would allow the two sinks to be open to the room. Bed was comfy with decent pillows and it was pretty quiet too so I slept well. Other nice features included power access at bedside, deluxe bath amenities and colorful vibrant furnishings. We love these type of distinctive hotels trying to make a statement-so much better than the all beige cookie cutter American chains. Recommended

Yelp
Weekday opening hours 6:30am and time and time they just are not ready at 6:30 with one poor staff member trying to set up and serve customers at 7am. Customers paying top money for a room want coffee and pastries ready on time! Watching people having cabs out front for airport runs as the poor single staff member trying to set up and making coffee is just not on for such a high end hotel! Pay the extra hour to other staff to do pre opening and just have your cafe to do what it does best and that is make great coffee. Too many staff chatting away at check in etc and not focussing on an area that is so important with regards to guest experiences. Melbourne has plenty of other choices for great service delivered as advertised.

Yelp
We arrived from a 16-hour flight, and were helped as soon as we were out of the car, which was so nice! As every day passed, the more I loved staying here. Our room wasn't the most high-end room in the hotel, but it was plenty good-looking and roomy. I was sharing my room with a friend and there was room for both of us, however, the bathroom and toilet area left little for privacy. Had we not been good friends, this could have been an awkward share. We tried all the restaurants in the building, and as per usual of Melbourne food, it was delicious! We ordered room service, and checked out the rooftop bar. The cafe had hours that were advertised on Apple Maps differently (so we were often confused why it wasn't open), but the staff was more than accommodating and one Guest Services person named Nas was really lovely and above-and-beyond helpful. She really pushed customer service from good to fantastic. She made us feel welcomed and important, when sometimes (especially when I went down to the lobby in workout clothes to get coffee when I thought the cafe would be open) I felt like I was shooed away by QT staff. Hotel's cafe area closes early, but you can get coffee from either the restaurant or rooftop bar - depending on which one is open (each have different hours) or one of the many coffee shops in the CBD. If you try before the cafe is open... Well you just have to wait or go to 7-11 around the corner. The weather was so incredibly hot one day (over 100ºF) that we avoided going outside, and thankfully the hotel was comfortable. There's no pool or spa, but there is a good and clean spa across the way. The hotel staff were really helpful in helping us book a car and it came straight to the hotel for us, as well as was picked up by the service from the hotel. Lots of shopping available just walking distance away from convenience stores to the left to high-end Gucci to the right, nothing was out of reach. The hotel was very secure; had good safes and you can't select a floor your key card isn't programmed for. Check-in and check out went smoothly. I would book here again. The room we booked was larger than I expected, even though the restroom was not very private. The hotel gym was just large enough for a couple of people but I could see it getting too crowded if more than 4 people were to work out at the same time. One issue I had was that I had to take several business calls, and because I was sharing a room with a friend, I had to find room in the hotel's common areas - and I couldn't find a place that was quiet enough. The staff suggested a few places but it just didn't work out, and I had to do some conference calls with too-loud of music playing in the background. Not ideal. I would say they need to not blast the music so loud at 6am. Otherwise, the hotel was really great. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the amenities were great, and again - the food was delicious. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, in fact, I can't imagine staying somewhere else in the Melbourne CBD, as well as check out the other QT hotels around Australia when searching for hotels.

Yelp
This hotel is basically the Australian equivalent of The W. The QT is a boutique, hyper-modern hotel, with cool (but sort of crazy) room design. I stayed by myself in a king suite, and I'm still torn on whether or not the bathroom in the room is the coolest thing ever or just excessively modern. For starters, the whole room layout is open. It makes the room feel way bigger than it actually is, and there's one set of sliding doors that blocks off the sinks from the view of the rest of the room and then a second set of doors that actually closes the bathroom... So you're basically dragging out two extra walls if you need them. Cool, but a little weird. The bed was ridiculously comfortable, although like any fancy hotel it had a stupid amount of pillows on it. Every day I'd nearly stack them up in the corner, and the next time housekeeping came through they'd all be elaborately stacked again. A real game of hotel cat and mouse. Late night room service was oddly fast, and really good. As far as other parts of the hotel are concerned, the coffee shop on the first floor is great and the people working there are super friendly. I only checked out the roof top bar which also seemed cool, but not really my scene. The time I enjoyed most at the hotel was at breakfast every morning upstairs from the lobby. The server staff were incredibly friendly, and everything I had was great, but I'd really recommend their full breakfast (I think they call it their farmers breakfast or something), the truffle eggs, or the watermelon salad. All were awesome. The QT is a great hotel, and I can't wait to stay there again.

Yelp
such an amazing hotel...absolutely stunning with great service. i booked us a regular room back in January and upgraded to a nicer room last minute. so glad i did! the bathroom was open concept and completely luxurious with a huge soaking tub and rainfall shower. every detail of this place is thought out. we loved our room and loved the roof top bar overlooking the city. i wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. the only thing that creeped me out about this place is that it employs a woman to hold the door open for you curbside. you think it is always the same lady...24 hours a day. it isn't. the lady is in uniform and wears a black wig. she will make you do a double take. creepy times 10.

Yelp
A very enjoyable evening at Kinky Boots and then I try to take my friends to QT. 8 of us and get told that the roof bar is too busy so we go ground floor. After ordering our drinks we get told the beer is not available, the tia Maria is not available and the Bundy is not available - despite asking twice if the Bundy is available and being told yes it is. As we leave after getting nothing we asked for, another bar staff member tells us Bundy is available and his two staff members are new and don't know what's available Booked in for Cup Day - can't wait to see what the service is like lol
