Came here for dinner and was seated quite quickly. The service was excellent, and we never felt rushed or bothered. Our server was friendly and made it easy to build a set of dishes that would leave us feeling satisfied.
As for the food, there were some highs and some lows.
First course:
The dish that impressed us the most was the duck confit hand pie. The pie crust was light and flakey while the duck confit was delicate and seasoned perfectly. I expected this dish to feel heavy but it did not, and paired very well with the berries provided.
Our next favourite dish was the king oyster mushroom Katsu sandwich. The slaw helps balance out and bring brightness to the fried mushrooms in the sandwich, and we're happy our server suggested we order it.
The fried mozzarella was as you would expect but didn't stand out as anything unique or special.
The salmon crudo was disappointing as the salmon itself failed to stand out from the string spicy flavours of the sauce, and the sweetness from the fruit it's paired with.
Second course:
The smoked lamb belly was something we had been looking forward to. The cucumbers added a freshness to balance out the meaty flavours of the lamb, but we struggled to finish the dish due to how salty it was. I can't imagine that this is how they intended for it to be served, so it's likely an oversalted batch.
The shrimp & polenta dish was perfectly cooked. In fact, might be some of the best cooked shrimp that I've had in years. Our only criticism was that it was a touch too salty, but the gouda polenta helped cut through that taste.
The crispy potato dish flavour wise was incredible with its garlicky buttery taste. However, texturally it was not very crispy despite how it looked on the plate. As you would cut into it, the layers would slide apart to reveal the soft potato texture. Still a delicious dish don't get me wrong.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience tasting and evaluating the different dishes at and/ore, although I don't think the food was something that would bring us back.
