Grand Hyatt Shanghai

I stayed in Club Deluxe River Room including free lounge for 2 nights. My room is 6515 on 65th floor with excellence view of the pearl tower and the bund. Room looked old, not more luxury as 5-star but it’s ok. I asked the front to prepare the non-smoking room with no smell, air purify cleaning before check-in so there is no cigarette smell in the room. The lounge on 83rd floor is great. I can have free breakfast and dinner in the lounge. They also have smoked salmon for the meal so it’s great. The price of Club Deluxe room is all including. The location is good. I walked to see Shanghai Ocean Aquarium and the pearl tower. In the evening, I walked to The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel and got the tram through the tunnel under the river to the bund. It’s not the best hotel in Shanghai but it’s good for me with the great panorama view room with free lounge. I recommended this type of Club Deluxe River Room.

Staying right inside the Jin Mao Tower—one of the three iconic skyscrapers that define the city skyline—was a truly special experience. There is a unique charm to living in such a legendary landmark, and the high-rise views from the room were simply breathtaking.||||Unbeatable Location & Connectivity: The location is functionally perfect. Having a mall right downstairs is convenient, but the real highlight is the direct underground access. You can easily walk to the metro station and other neighboring shopping centers through the connected tunnels without ever stepping outside—extremely practical and efficient.||||Exceptional Service & Elite Recognition: The service standard here is impressively high. As an elite member, the recognition and benefits provided were comprehensive, thoughtful, and well-executed. The team truly knows how to take care of their loyal guests. A special mention to Ms. Wang Qian and Mr. Ryan in the Club Lounge for their professionalism and helpful assistance throughout my stay.||||If you are looking for a hotel that combines the experience of staying in a landmark skyscraper with excellent connectivity and superior service, this is the place to be.

We were fortunate enough to stay at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai for a whole week. All the hotel staff were incredibly dedicated, warm, and proactive in greeting us and assisting with any requests. The Grand Club offered ample food and beverages and readily arranged meeting rooms for us. Staying for a week in one of Shanghai's iconic skyscrapers was an absolute treat! Special thanks to the cleaning staff on the 82nd floor for their meticulous twice-daily cleaning and turndown service. We also want to thank Feng Wenwen, a server at the buffet restaurant on the 56th floor, for her enthusiastic and attentive service and assistance. And the incredibly popular seafood buffet dinner is definitely the best in Shanghai!

I have actually been here one time before, during COVID, but wanted to come back, this time for New Years. As expected: great location, professional staff and clean environment. I used one of my Hyatt Rewards for a Suite Upgrade, and glad I did, as the room is fantastic (present tense) and also got access to the Club Lounge, which is, of course, on-point! I've done the Grand Hyatt in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shenyang and now, Shanghai, and on all accounts, they are fantastic! Happy New Year!

I recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai and had a mixed experience. The room itself was nice—spacious, clean, and comfortable. However, I was disappointed to find that the toilet had no bidet, which is something I expect from a hotel of this level.What affected my stay the most was the interaction at the front desk. The staff member who assisted me seemed a little rude. I’m not sure if she was tired, but working in the service sector means maintaining professionalism, and unfortunately, that wasn’t the case during my check-in.Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. There are many other great options in Shanghai, including heritage hotels, that offer better service and even better views. My stay wasn’t terrible, but it definitely didn’t live up to the standards I was expecting.

This is really sad to see how this hotel has deteriorated. This used to be a centrepiece marvel in Pudong, but now feels a shadow of what it used to be as an iconic hotel for leisure or business. The front desk staff barely speak any English. You used to have a wide array of international staff catering to the global clientele, instead now it is only Chinese, with them making basic mistakes at check-in etc because their English is so weak. At one point a staff member asked me to speak into his translator phone. I gave up. The restaurants have gone downhill big time. The restaurant at On56 used to be the more casual restaurant option which sold very good food from both East and West. I regularly used to go there 3-4 nights a week pre-pandemic. It's now turned into what can only be described as a buffet zoo. Awful food, people screaming and shouting left right and centre, and insanely priced. It is not a place for westerners to go. The breakfast buffet has also gone downhill. I've always put Hyatt at the very top of the breakfast 🥞🍳 charts in international hotels. Is no longer the case. The quality is worse than pre-pandemic,and it is on a different floor as well which adds to feel of a downgrade. I would say although the rooms have not changed, I still like them and think they are generally still in very good condition, however the hotel as a whole needs a complete reset to bring it back to what it was. It feels like it has not re-awoken from the pandemic, and is catering to cheaper domestic tourists, but charging them a lot for the view. I was there for a conference, and many people commented how they switched to the Regent or Ritz-Carlton. I can wholly see why. I hope this hotel gets the turnaround plan it deserves.

Stunning Architecture, but Overall Overpriced Experience What I Loved Most: The building itself is absolutely breathtaking - both from the outside and the interior atrium. We also enjoyed access to the Club Lounge, where the view of the Bund and the Pearl Tower during the evening drinks was definitely a highlight (self-serve cocktails were a fun surprise😅). The room was spacious and clean, and breakfast was good. What I Didn’t Like: Our room, despite being upgraded, had a very strong cigarette smell that made it uncomfortable to stay in - it felt heavily smoked-in. The furnishings and equipment feel dated, and overall service fell short of expectations for a luxury hotel: limited English communication, no assistance with luggage, and no escort to the room. While the architecture is impressive, the experience as a whole felt overpriced, and I would choose a different hotel on my next visit.

Conveniently located at Pudong with easy access to Oriental Pearl Tower and IFC via the pedestrian bridge. Shanghai Tower is just across the road. Lots of eateries and cafes around. Hotel has great view which is why we choose to stay here. We booked 4 rooms and all have different layout due to the configuration of the building and all our rooms have river views with 2 facing Oriental Pearl. We had lunch at Cloud 9 located at level 87 which is just 1 level below Jin Mao Level 88 Observation deck.
