"Right inside the city limits, the dormant volcano Mount Tabor is one of Portland’s many natural treasures. The park in which it sits was designed in 1936 by Emanuel Tillman Mische, who, for most of his career, worked for the Olmsted Brothers, the leading landscape architects of the period. Today, the park’s winding paths are chockablock with bicyclists testing their mettle and hikers exploring the many trails and three reservoirs in search of fresh air and views of the surrounding valley. There are three main walking routes, and it’s also possible to drive to the summit and take a quick amble through the firs and pines."

This park is on a mountain with pretty steep elevation, so if you're not ready to climb, I would suggest just driving up and parking the car by the street and climbing from the reservoir area. It's much easier. The view is beautiful, especially from the peak of the park, and there are trails for both walkers and bicycle riders. There is also a dog park on the south side, which I haven't gone to, but I see many people walking their dogs heading down to that area. There are two reservoirs on the west side, providing a good view towards downtown, and picnic or camping right by the water.

On an extremely hot day, I sought shade in the forest and found this perfect spot to walk my dogs and cool off beneath the deep, leafy canopy. It’s a wonderful place to escape the heat. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a tranquil space right in the middle of the city. There happened to be a concert taking place, and it turned out to be an ideal spot for a relaxed picnic. Highly recommended.

I live near Mt. Tabor park, and absolutely love going on late night walks there. It’s a really calm and peaceful environment, not to mention the basketball court surrounded by trees, tennis courts, and playground. And on Wednesdays they close off the roads for cars, so you can skate/ bike on the roads. Overall I think Mt. Tabor is an amazing place.

This was mine and my husband's first time at this park and we really enjoyed it! It was beautiful. LOTS of trails to enjoy. Those stairs are unforgiving as heck 🤣. It's definitely a busier park, but with how many trails there are, everyone is spaced out, and everyone we ran into was very nice. We will definitely be back to take a crack at the trails we didn't get to.

Mt Tabor is an exquisite park located on an ancient volcano! That's right, Google it! It provides a stellar view of not only downtown Portland (from sunrise to sunset) but also part of the Portland Metro. During the summer, Mt Tabor hosts Tabor Dance, which is a "rave-like" free event that puts on 3 local DJs; donations help support this event and let's them keep coming back. It houses 2 large water reservoirs, adding to beauty of the space! If you're new or visiting, make a trek up to Mt Tabor, you won't be disappointed!

I've been coming here for 30 years and really love this place. You see a lot of like minded people that are just there for the beauty and the peaceful experience of being on top amount tabor. There's also a basketball court there and places to picnic. Maybe have a barbecue, but it's just beauty. You're so high up above the city. You can see very beautiful vantage points from different places

Its a volcano! Really love this park, all kinds of trails for walking, hiking, and biking. Really love going to Tabor Dance on Wednesdays here during the summer ☀️.

Very nice walking trails all around. Lots of people walking with their dogs. And there’s a nice huge playground for kids. I did do birdwatching and met some American robins and hummingbirds. Unfortunately it was cloudy and raining on off so we had to cut the walking short.
