"Located on the north end of Tulum's beach road, which is closest to the entrance of the ruins, Ikal is a lively, hip spot that offers community events like Brazilian capoeira lessons, yoga, spiritual lectures, and eclectic live music. It is also an extremely kid-friendly hotel with weekly events designed especially for children relating to yoga, music, and art."

The place is beautiful. The atmosphere was amazing. The views are incredible. The staff were nice. The only thing is that they get Commission on everything they sell so they’re always up selling everything specially taxis and 4 wheelers and scooter rentals I would shop around to get around Tulum. I was very disappointed at how expensive everything was. The food was OK. There were not a whole lot of options. Also a downfall is you have to pay a daily fee to be in the park, which is where the hotel is .

I went for a yoga class to IKAL (I wasn’t staying at the hotel) and I was absolutely blown away by the beautiful beach front view! The yoga stage was facing the beach and the sound of waves made the whole experience very special and profound. The class was absolutely amazing - the yoga teacher spoke Spanish and English and was very attentive and experienced. The atmosphere was great and very relaxing. After the class I had a tasty lunch at the hotel’s beach bar&restaurant. The stuff was very polite and friendly and I love the fact that the hotel is located just on the beach front so I could take a deep in the sea straight after the class. There are toilets available for guests with mirrors and sink. Surrounding nature and presence of iguanas plus lovely park with art on the walk to the hotel only added to beautiful overall aesthetics.

As soon as we arrived to Ikal I knew we were at a special place. The property is stunning and well maintained, making it the perfect place to relax. Even though it is family friendly, we never felt stressed by the cute kids running around, just added to the charm. Kar, one of our servers, was very welcoming and charming to chat with, she really matched the vibe of the place! Overall great birthday getaway!

A really beautiful hotel and amazing stay. Everything was super clean and picturesque, the complimentary yoga every morning was amazing, it couldn’t have been a better stay. The sunbeds didn’t have a minimum spend because it’s low season which was good and the jaguar park fee was only 120 each- it sounds like this changes a lot and we had expected to pay about 400 each. The only downside was the restaurant, the food and drinks were good but were very very overpriced, it’s easy to walk to other restaurants on the beach that have more reasonable prices.

Stayed here for 6 days to celebrate a birthday. The place is gorgeous, outdoor bathroom including toilet, be prepared and bring mosquito spray. Food is on the bland side but there are plenty of options in walking distance. Amenities and beach access make the stay worthwhile. Because the hotel is located within the national park there is a fee to get back into the park that needs to be paid every day if coming back prior to 5pm.

IKAL Hotel is apparently a mayan sanctuary that runs without septic and is located inside a state national park. Even though the place itself was pretty, there were many flaws considering the ridiculous amount of money we paid to be there. The sheets were stained in all three rooms i stayed, the interior was rough and worn out. In two rooms the bathroom and shower were outside and because the resort is located basically in a jungle type of situation, the bug situation was brutal. The road to get to the hotel once you leave the main road is very bad and bumpy and ruined our car rental. The restaurant connected to the hotel is absolutely bananas in terms or quality of service and food vs what they charge. And the hotel is located far away from everything and feels very isolated. So if this is something that resonates with you, don’t book IKAL

Very special place, can’t wait to go back! This was our third time staying at the hotel and the best visit so far - seems like management has made many changes for the better. Many thanks to receptionist Eliana for going above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Throughout your stay reception stays in touch via WhatsApp which makes it easy if you need anything or have questions. We appreciated the complementary mosquito spray and aloe vera. You are in a jungle, so do note there are a ton of mosquitos outside, lizards, bugs, birds and beautiful wildlife. They had lots of activities - yoga, ice baths, cacao ceremonies, astrology readings, mezcal tastings. Loved just lounging on the swinging beds, walking barefoot in the powdery white sands. You can take the electric shuttle easily to the ruins or other spots on the beach. The restaurant has amazing food - we loved the golden milk latte and fish tacos. It is pricy for Mexico, but that’s expected due to the location and the luxury. The server Franky did a great job, didn’t have any issues with him asking for additional tips - honest, fast. We did miss the whole fresh Seabass that we ordered on previous stays as well as Matcha Mama which was closed - they have great smoothie bowls. My only feedback would be - please consider making the hotel’s main entry steps (next to reception) more accessible for those with limited mobility - the irregular, rickety, floating planks are difficult to navigate. Some boards were even loose and wiggling - dangerous for anybody. And please bring back the live music in the restaurant - there were musicians in the evenings during our previous days and we missed that on this trip. The music was so good. Note that you must pay entry to the park - about $40 USD for our entry via car for 4 nights, then about $5 USD per person every day you enter the park via car before 5pm (after is free). It’s a special place, and I imagine the fee goes towards conserving the nature and beauty of the park.
