16 Best Hotels in Iceland, From Rural Lodges to Reykjavik Boutiques | Condé Nast Traveler

"Housed in a historic downtown building, Kvosin blends urban and Nordic style into charismatic apartment suites that make it ideal for extended stays: renovated, modish interiors, helpful staff, and a central location steps from the Parliament, City Hall, and the old cathedral mean I can easily duck out for a craft beer, a gig, or a stroll around Tjörnin before returning to spacious rooms with swanky leather chairs and kitchenettes." - Erika Owen, James Taylor

7 Best Hotels in Reykjavik, Iceland (2025) | Condé Nast Traveler

"Extremely central and charming, this hotel sits close to City Hall, Austurvöllur park, Reykjavik Cathedral, and Parliament and is about five minutes from whale- and puffin-watching tours; the 1900-built former multi-family apartment block retains imposing architecture and high ceilings, and its 24 contemporary Nordic-style rooms include marble-topped kitchenettes and lounges (the hotel can stock your fridge ahead of arrival) while Aldamót bar is on hand for drinks and appetizers." - Becky Lucas

Kvosin Downtown Hotel (Reykjavik, Iceland) 1 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"To focus on the ups and downs of the local travel scene to risk missing the point of Reykjavík entirely. A hotel like Kvosin is built to last. In one sense, it already has — the building that’s now home to Kvosin Downtown Hotel has stood on this site, alongside the Icelandic parliament, since 1900. And while its interiors have been continually updated, adding plenty of 20th-century modernist furnishings and more contemporary pieces, there’s something timeless about it — you get the sense this isn’t the sort of urban boutique hotel that’ll be refurbishing its rooms every season." - Tablet Hotels

Location was perfect. Very close to tour bus pick up stops and to the main parts of the city, but tucked away in a quiet corner. Hotel is clean and modern. Staff is friendly. We booked the room with the kitchenette which was spacious and convenient. Meals at restaurants are pricey in Iceland. So it was nice to have a mini fridge and cooking and eating utensils which gave us the option to buy and cook light meals on certain days. I couldn’t ask for anything more in a hotel stay.

The room was cozy and clean. We had a bay window that overlooked the lake. The bed was comfortable. There was a sitting area and Island kitchenette too. We would stay here again.

Great little hotel, perfect location in downtown Reykjavik. My family of 4 stayed in the 2BR top floor apartment which was HUGE, lots of space for us to relax together in the living room or dining room, 2 large roof decks looking out over the area. I was concerned that they don't have parking, but that was not a problem at all - within 3 minutes walk is a row of public parking along the lake that was always available.

Great hotel in Reykjavik. Good location, walking distance to bars, restaurants, and attractions. Our room was very nice, it overlooked the street but wasn’t noisy. The hotel breakfast was very good, lots of options. Parking isn’t included but easy enough to find spaces nearby. I’m glad we chose to stay here and would definitely recommend.

Stayed here for four days in Reykjavik, the staff and Gina were very friendly! The lobby is exquisitely classy and they have a lot of great drinks and snacks to purchase for the room if needed. Check in was easy and it’s very secure! There is a bar and restaurant right next to lobby and they offer breakfast as well! Our room was very cozy with an excellent bed and bedding, some of the best sleeps I’ve had in a long time for sure! We opened the windows and pulled the blinds, really wanted a fan and asked and the front desk brought us one which was very kind and perfect! Made us very comfortable during our stay here! Had a beautiful kitchen with all you need, even a stove and built in fridge as well! Made it easy to have food and drinks on hand and prepare stuff when needed! The location is perfect too and you can walk to anything downtown which is especially handy if you go out for drinks as well. There is parking at front entrance which can be full but the P1 parking area is all near the hotel so you can easily find more if needed! We love coming to Iceland and will definitely stay here again! Loved it here! So glad we chose to stay here!

We had a car breakdown and had to look for an accomodation last minute. We managed too book the room at 9pm, drove there and checked in within 30 minutes. The parking spaces were scarce in the evening, but we mamaged to get one in front of the hotel and there were a lot more spaces the next day in the morning. The room was spacious, clean and so comfortable, exactly what we needed after a stressful day. The breakfast was incredible with so many option for different dietary needs and the reception was quick with any solutions we needed. They even recommended us some restaurants that would still be open after we have arrived.||All in all, amazing experience for the one night we spent here and we will definitely come back!

This is a nice hotel in the heart of downtown Reykjavík. We had a reasonably sized room with two beds and a well stocked kitchen area. Plenty of space. Very friendly staff. Only downside would be the lack of all street parking.

Small hotel in the center of town walking distance to the harbor and museums.|Our room had a queen size bed and a pullout sofa, great for families. The bed is separated by a wall from the living room with the sofa. Staff made the sofa for us. Each person had his/her own duvet blanket. The view from the room was of a courtyard with grass and flowers, beautiful and bright. There is light out until midnight but there are blackout curtains if you want to sleep earlier.||The hotel has coffee and croissants by the front desk. There are also drinks and snacks for purchase. There is a place next door with breakfast food. There is a supermarket called Krónan 7 minute walk from the hotel. We arrived early and the hotel saved our luggage.||There are ear plugs in the room by the bed. I was worried about noise at night. A couple of windows were open and when I closed them the room was quiet. There is a kitchen counter with a cooling drawer, no freezer or microwave, but there is a stove and kitchen items, and a Nescafé machine. There is a bench and a shelving unit to use for luggage.||I did not care for the bathroom situation. There is a small room with a toilet and a sink, only one person can use the sink. There is a separate room with walk in shower, water temperature kept on changing.||There are walking tours that leave from the courtyard by the hotel. We took a tour with CityWalk and our guide Sarah was entertaining.||When you head to the airport you have the option of taking a public bus to the airport for $20/person, kids 12-17 are half price and under 11 are free. The bus stop is a 15 minute walk from the hotel at a bus terminal. The walk is pleasant along a pond, but the pavement is uneven. The ride takes one hour and 12 minutes. The bus seems to leave once every hour at the 15 after the hour.||We had a pleasant stay and I recommend this hotel especially since it is harder to find hotel rooms that accommodate families where you have room to spread out.
