Atelier New York Men Store

Do not purchase items from this store. Customer service is non-existent and they fail to follow through with delivery issues or address customer concerns or complaints. I recently made my first purchase --- Aesop soaps of all things ---- which cost over $350. Their policy required that I sign for the package when the FedEx delivery person dropped it off. I signed it but when I took the box inside, I noticed that the box was actually poorly sealed not using traditional packaging tape but an 'Atelier' branded tape which was unable to seal the box appropriately especially with these heavy items. Because of this, only one item was delivered. I immediately contacted Atelier --- instead of refunding me or sending me replacement items while they investigated or dealt with FedEx on this issue (clearly it was either Atelier's fault or FedEx's fault), they made me (the customer) be in the middle of the issue --- Fortunately, I had a Nest Cam still shots showing that the box was unsealed upon delivery and I also provided them photos of the poor packing job their staff had. For 1.5 months, I was strung along --- I filed a BBB complaint and no response. Ultimately, I had to file a chargeback through Amex who took care of this issue and advocated on my behalf.

Ordered a cologne from their website, they sent cologne which had broke seals and box seemed like it was opened before, plastic wrapping was intact. TAKE YOUR MINEY SOMEWHERE ELSE. Customer service is nonexistent, refuse to take the return.

Purchased a bag with them. Noticed stitching issues and edge paint issues on the bag the next day after receiving it and hadn’t been used. I reached out with photos and I was asking for an exchange of the same product since they still had stock and not a refund. It took them 1.5 weeks to get back to me refusing to do anything. Kind of disappointed.

Good service and price

Wow! What an incredibly well curated collection. There is a fantastic mix of local, European, and Japanese designers. Special shout out to the staff, and Tom in particular. I’ve worked in luxury fashion, so understand that boutiques such as these can often be pretentious, intimidating and unwelcoming. Let me emphasize that Atelier New York is the pinnacle of what luxury fashion customer service should be. They were attentive, warm, and supremely knowledgeable. They were able to advise with expertise on cut, materials, collections, and intricacies found between different seasons. I will absolutely make this the priority destination when adding pieces to my wardrobe in the near future. Merci, Tom and team.

I’ve shopped here a few times both in person and online. Needless to say their customer service is simply incompetent. They had sent me a faulty garment where the seams had fell apart and refused to do anything about it. Atelier NY’s excuse was that I had washed the garment, hence, there was nothing to about it. Hi, hello, I hand washed my garment very gently. I also come from a garment construction background and this is clearly a QC issue. DO NOT SHOP HERE. You’ve been warned. Go across the street to Shop Untitled, way better selection and customer service.

Visited the Men's store - very cool space with an exceptional curation of designers. Rick, ERD, BBS - and many more, that can be difficult to find outside of Soho. The sales associate, Jesse, who helped me was very kind & respectful while answering my questions. Would definitely come back!

The manager here treats her employees like dirt. She only keeps her Asian speaking staff who sell online from the store. The staff she keeps and herself are above talking to or helping anyone who comes into the store. I overheard her talking with a member of staff and she is so abusive - I hope the owner reads this. They could do so much better without her attitude.

RACIST!!! well that depends on who's working. Please make sure that if you're not Asian or white that your dressed in avant-garde pieces or you will be judged and profiled. The gentleman followed me around the store like I was about to steal something in their tiny store, then when I was ready to checkout he asked for my ID to use debit. Mind you, I was only spending $1300. I shop all around NYC and never have this problem. All I was looking for was a pair of waxed DRKSHDW Detroit-cut jeans. My experiences at Atelier New York are much different than those in the other reviews. I've been here over a dozen times, and each time, I was treated respectfully. The sales associates are helpful and never sale-sy. They have a selection of artisinal brands that you're unlikely to find in more than 2-3 other stores here in NY, including Guidi, Boris Bidjan Saberi, MA+, Layer-0, A1923, Deepti, etc.

I spent 50 bucks for ups 2-day shipping and by my tracking number, I found that the shipping service was ups GROUND. If I didn't complain, they won't refund me

Strongly advise against ordering anything from their website. Placed an order for a pair of boots on their website. They sent us the wrong size, and went into full denial about their mistake. Customer service is terrible, and they'll ride their lie to hell and back over a couple dollars worth of shipping label. Take your business else where. Farfetch.com for example.

Personally I had a great time. I don't need a ton of assistance when I shop. I might just for an opinion or two as I go about my business. They carry Yohji, and not too many places do in Manhattan as far as I can tell.

I would give this store a zero if possible. I purchased an Off White hoodie for my son. I purchased the incorrect size and contacted the store to return the item for the correct size or store credit. I was told since the item was on sale I cannot return the item nor receive store credit. That is absurd. I have never purchased an item from any store that could not be returned for the correct size or store credit. Customer service is rude and not helpful. This company is out to make money and not to satisfy customers. I will never purchase another item from Atelier New York.

I agree with some of the previous reviews. If you don't want your day spoiled, I strongly suggest you not going to shop here. Even if you want to shop here, you gotta do a whole makeover, dress "artsy", get a blowout for them to take you seriously. The staff are more than just unfriendly, some of them are simply rude. You barely get any help. The tall asian girl is fine, at least she tries. The man who works there is basically just chilling there, not really doing anything, and the other asian lady with ponytail, holy shit was she rude. I was asking advice on a pair of Guidi shoes, and I was simply commenting that the finish of one pair looks neater than the other, and she replied "people buy Guidi for that worn look, if that's not what you're looking for, I mean...", seriously? Can't I just but a pair of shoes for my likeness than trying to show off a brand? People still buy things for what it is! They can just answer the question simply without throwing shades in there, I'm not asking them to bow at me. But this is still a retail business so I was expecting at least some respect, am I right? (Also I'm Asian, they treat the white costumers who stepped in after me much nicer, smh) I looked online and I like their style overall. I came in person, so ready to make some purchase. Although I found some items I really like, the attitude I was getting just really made me not want to give them my money. Oh and did I mention that the whole store smells like fish? I think this is the problems with a lot of the Americans owned boutique stores. Seriously, go to a Japanese owned one, please, they at least pretend to be nicer. Or if you have the money, fly to California and shop there like I'm doing next week, at least people there are more chill than here. But if you're a masochist, by all means, come in, they'll give you the treatment you want the moment you step in.

There is absolutely no comparison to the old Atelier on Hudson. Worst experience ever by even just inquiring before the purchase. I would strongly recommend to visit Patron of the new locally or other Socal/online shops such as H Lorenzo or Archive SF. At least one deserves what should be treated properly.

Personally, I cannot fathom the negative reviews that Atelier New York is getting, when I have never gotten anything less than stellar service at this store from the time it was located on Crosby Street to its current location on West 8th Street. Priding itself in stocking the best high-end fashion and lifestyle pieces of the season, the store is staffed with the most knowledgeable and friendly people. Unlike other high-end stores in the West Village, which are staffed with overly aggressive sales people, who shamelessly up-sell product, the people at Atelier are incredibly helpful without being invasive. In the spirit of an authentic high-end store, Atelier's staff keep a polite distance from the shopper to offer breathing room and a relaxed atmosphere to make for an enjoyable shopping experience. Atelier is correctly aware that if the product is on point, the merchandise will sell itself. I have never had a negative experience at Atelier, and it is my favorite go-to shopping space in New York City.

I've shopped here both in person and online and this will be the last time. I ordered an Ann Demeulemeester knit top and the garment clearly was defective since I followed the washing instructions and gently hand-washed the garment (no twisting or pulling) however, the side seams of the garment started unravel, I contacted their customer service and in response they told me that it was because I washed it way too aggressively which had nothing to do with the defect. Hi hello, I come a garment construction background don't treat me like a fool, also the garment arrived with a funky odor. Steer away folks, try Shop Untitled across the street carries a way better selection of niche designers and 5 star customer service. Atelier not only has lost it's niche aesthetics going with very commercial brands and with an incompetent customer service.

I definitely would not recommend shopping at Atelier NY whether in person or online. I ordered a Marcelo Burlon sweatshirt from Far Fetch and it came to me with obvious signs of previous wear, dark black stains all over the pink hoodie and also dirt and a strong perfume type fragrance. The tags were also previously removed and reattached using a zip-tie tightly through the label. I immediately called them and let them know and the girl who answered at first basically told me that Far Fetch would accept the return and I would get my money back what was the big deal. The big deal is that I purchased sweater that retails for $649 and it came used. When I returned it I spoke with the manager and she assured me she was sorry and it was an isolated incident. However, then Far Fetch emailed me letting me know the item was re-listed on the website by them and was back up for sale!!! I had to call the manager of this store three times in a week straight in order to get her to pull that nasty hoodie off of Far Fetch. Terrible ethics and way of doing business. Trash.

i would NEVER step foot back in this spot. came in with 2 friends and was completely followed every inch of the store. very rude. if you don't look like "money" or whatever they may deem "artsy" you will judged the entire time. save your money and time.

This must qualify as the least accessible we-don't-want-anywalk-ins in NYC! They are on the 10th (tenth!!) floor of a building on 11th Ave! You really really really have to want find the place. BUT once you are there, they are pretty nice, and they have good selection of "black" NYC stuff. Not sure how they stay in business. Waiting for the sale.

This a lousy place. They don't get you in, nobody answers the phone when you call, neither the ringbell at 1003 of the building. I'm right there, it is 6.20 pm Suposedly they are opened until 7 pm. I came from midtown, walked, took my time and nothing. What's this secrecy all about. On top of that I'm going to pay my money and I have to wait until they wake up from their afternoon nap and open? Never again. Keep your stuff. Not recommended.

This store has lost all it's avant garde element. The new owners are obviously strip mall owners in Jersey and should have stayed there. To much lighting...NO music....The two bored and reeking of smoke in Old Navy hoodies Asian chubs are so strange. They stare at you with no smile like they are waiting for you to grab something and run out the door. The tall current model for the online store is a sales employee and seemed totally stressed although he is very pleasant.....Such an odd store....They showed me nothing...just pointed to each section....womens mens sale....I am wearing Julius pants and Augusta boots and you would think they would be more helpful and observant.....we who wear this black look usually have a substantial amount of $ on hand and are ready to buy....v twilight zone......and I only walked out after nothing was said or offered.....luckily I floated across the street and was able to spend a few $ on Lost&Found Ria Dunn and Joe Chia......and Thom Krom from sales people wearing what they sell...showing me my size....making me espresso and or wine etc......a boutique that was a boutique.....THAT untitled store was the best part of my trip to Atelier....what a waste of artful fashion...........
