Frida Kahlo Museum

What an experience! I’m glad to have gone alone and been able to move at my own pace. It was a very personal experience. I’m sure there’s nothing I could say that hasn’t been said already. It definitely inspired me to get more intense with how I decorate my home. Buy your tickets ahead of time.

The Frida Museum was very well done. They had done a great job in both English & Spanish. We purchased the tickets on line directly from the museum about a month in advance & it was much less expensive then buying through a third party. We spent 2 hours there and then spent the evening exploring the area and food stands. Highly recommend!

Visiting the Frida Kahlo Museum was truly eye-opening. I’ll be honest — before coming, I didn’t know much about her life beyond the fact that she was an artist and married to Diego Rivera. But walking through her actual home, learning her story, and seeing where she lived completely changed my perspective. Being in that space makes her life feel very real. You really begin to understand how much pain and hardship she endured, yet how deeply creative, resilient, and influential she was. Even during times when she was sick or confined to her home, she still maintained a powerful circle of influential friends and continued to shape culture in a meaningful way. The museum does a beautiful job of showing how much Frida contributed not only to art, but to Mexican culture as a whole — and how her impact continues even today. It gave me a much deeper appreciation for who she was beyond the paintings. Definitely worth the visit. If you’re even slightly curious about her life or legacy, this museum is a must-see.

Really great experience. Got tickets two months in advance. Glad we did this while in Mexico City! We arrived almost ten minutes after our ticket time and they still let us in (which was great, no wait!) Took us about 45 minutes to move through the entire place along with the clothing exhibit. Walked to get coffee nearby after.

This museum was everything I hoped for. Frida has been my favorite artist for over a decade and I was so excited to visit. It definitely didn’t disappoint. Her home was lovely and felt so much like her. I only wish there was even more information, but I left feeling like I was on cloud nine.

I was honestly a little disappointed with this museum, I was hoping to see a little more of her artwork. Granted this museum was mostly about her life, which was nice to learn about, but frankly quite repetitive about her story.... I must have read the same history about her life as a student/being handicap/love affairs 3 or 4 times throughout the museum during the 1.5 hours I was there. The garden was colorful and nice, but was not personally worth the cost/time in my opinion. Also don't worry about purchasing merchandise in their shop because you will find better options on the street with vendors at a cheaper cost.

Really interesting museum, stunning both inside and out. I especially loved how each room tells the story of Frida and her influence. Would recommend buying tickets in advance, and unfortunately the best way to do that is through overpriced places such as GetYourGuide as it’s sold out months in advance.

Literally one of the most profound experiences of my life. Visiting the Frida Kahlo Museum is mandatory if you’re in CDMX. Learning about her pain and perseverance was both inspiring and heartbreaking. We were told it would be impossible to get tickets without weeks of advance notice, but instead of giving up, we took a chance and managed to get tickets for the following day. I’m so glad we did. The Blue House itself, her clothing, and the medical devices alone are enough to warrant a visit, and of course her art stands powerfully on its own as well. Overall, one of the most important and meaningful museums I’ve ever visited ~ anywhere in the world. Viva La Vida!
