"Brunost at Fenaknoken, Oslo Brunost (brown cheese) is a staple of Norwegian kitchens, usually cut thin with a cheese slicer to top buttered toast or warm waffles. Despite the name, brunost isn’t technically cheese; it’s the whey of goat’s milk, boiled for hours until caramelized. This imparts a distinctive brown color, a salty taste, and a texture like goat-cheese fudge. The specialty food store Fenaknoken carries brunost from a range of brands, including the ubiquitous Ski Queen and the more traditional Synnøve Finden. Tordenskioldsgate 12, 47/2242-3457."

Our visit to this charming gourmet store near the fish market in Oslo was one of the highlights of our trip. The selection was outstanding—we picked up some of the freshest fish and beautifully crafted fish products, along with a wonderful variety of delicious local cheeses and other meat products. What made the experience truly special was the warmth and hospitality of the owner, who took the time to chat with me and my 6-year-old son — we both learned so much! He shared stories, explained where the products came from, and made us feel genuinely welcome. A memorable store and also a rich cultural experience. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates high-quality local food. We will definitely return next time we visit Oslo again.

Our most memorable meal in Oslo. This is the place to get some seafood while you can breathe some ocean breezes. Here we felt so comfy and warmly welcomed. Their fish cakes were so delicious. And we just couldn’t get enough of the cold water prawns! We tried also their cured reindeer meat, expensive but good stuff.

Great and cozy place in Oslo. Very tasty pancakes with shrimp and fish. Good beer and very friendly owner of the place. I wanted try to taste something Norwegian and this place seems to fit it just right. Don't forget to leave a note on the “Peace Board”.

Family run gourmet store and restaurant. . It was one of the most delicious restaurants in our Norway trip. Running by father & a son, they have passion on food and providing the top grade local produce from Norway. The shrimps were fresh, the marinated salmon was excellent. They also sold various kinds of sausages from different kind of meats from Norway. The owner was nice and told us a lot of information about Norway and their food. Loved this places so much.we had a wonderful time there. Highly recommend.
