Been here twice now for brunch. The first time was super good, but the second time was pretty disappointing. This time we ordered: - birrria eggs Benny - spicy crab toast - birria hash - fry bread - hot chocolate fest hot chocolate The eggs benny was good but salty. The crab toast.. was really salty and not great overall. The birria hash wasn’t bad, but a pretty small portion for the price. The hot chocolate was really good, but it came room temperature. Overall it was okay and the service was pretty slow. However, shoutout to the hostess working on Feb 21- she was so so so friendly!

Just extremely overrated in every aspect. I've been here twice and each time they manage to burn bread on an conveyer toaster which is actually kind of impressive. While the food is decent here are better Filipino places and better brunch places. Don't buy into the hype. Garlic rice didn't taste like garlic. Mushroom toast was dry. Potatoes are nice but it's pretty mid all around for the price.

Visited this place for brunch, and we loved it. We ordered the Maven Breakfast with brisket and the Mexican-style Birria de Res eggs Benedict with garlic fried rice—everything was fantastic. We were so stuffed by the end! Our server, Joyce, was friendly, and the place has lovely décor with plants and cute wallpaper. I’ll definitely come back on my next trip to Calgary.

great atmosphere, sweet and quick servers, and a really interesting interior. coffee was absolutely amazing, worth every cent. breakfasts were solid too, with generous portions that left us very full the only disappointment was the salad on my plate. i’m usually understanding if there’s just one not so fresh leaf, but unfortunately there was too much of it, so i ended up skipping the salad and only eating the berries on top

My friend and I visited Maven for brunch on a Saturday at 10:30 AM, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious. The menu is incredibly diverse, offering a great range of flavors and portion sizes to suit all levels of hunger. We were impressed by the quality and presentation—it was truly a step above. (The photos show the beautiful scrambled eggs on toast with a side salad and a lovely panna cotta!) The atmosphere is a huge draw. It’s very cozy and intimate, with only a few tables, which makes for a great dining experience. The noise level was perfect—we had no trouble holding a conversation, which is a rare find during peak brunch hours. A note on timing: We had put our names on the waitlist, and the wait wasn't bad right at 10:30 AM. However, the restaurant did start getting much busier around 11:00-11:30 AM, so I recommend going earlier if you want to avoid a longer wait! Highly recommend Maven for a top-tier, intimate brunch!

We decided to try the menu after seeing it. We started with the Spicy Crab Fried Rice, which had a delicious Malaysian-inspired rice flavour. The Chilli Crab Toast was surprisingly similar to the rice. The waiting time can be long, and the food might take a while to arrive. However, since we were in a group, we had a great time chatting and entertaining each other while we waited. Overall, it was a enjoyable experience.

I have celiac disease and they were very accommodating and had many options on the menu. The food looked, smelled and tasted amazing! The decor is very pretty and I enjoyed the over-all experience very much. The group I was with were also very happy with their food and service. We’ll be back!

First time in Maven and I've got to say I'm pretty impressed with what's going on. Service is good and the kitchen was very accommodating. Friend and I had two dishes: Spicy Crab Fried Rice and Still In Manila subbed w/ Salmon. What I appreciated: - They offer sawsawan, sambal, and atchara--essential accoutrements to southeast Asian cuisine. Filipino restaurants, from what i've seen lately, have forgone this in their menus and I think it's a damn shame. - Crispy Garlic Fried Rice. It was crispy, and nice. - They aren't afraid to get spicy. Things that could be better: - Food was tasty but a little two-dimensional - E.g. the Spicy Crab Fried Rice had everything going for it, until it didn't. Saving grace was the server offering atchara and other pickled sides, which gave the dish the necessary acidity to make it work. - My dish, the Still In Manila, didn't have the onion tomato sawsawan, which really was a shame. The atchara was good, but onion and tomato sawsawan is iconic and a mainstay--especially if they use some sort of in house vinegar. I'm sure that with the sawsawan, it would have added much more to the dish, but as it was, the garlic rice lacked salt, and overall the dish lacked a bit of a kick. The sambal that I requested saved it, though, but would be amazing to have a chili vinegar sukang sawsawan, too. Overall, 3.5 to soft 4. Would love to give them another shot though!

The Kaya Toast, life changing. Very beautiful interiors as well! The service was also great, we had our children with us, one was a baby, and the server was quick to provide our high chair and other things we need to have a comfortable brunch.

Amazing Brunch, arguably the best in Calgary! Has an amazing ambient feel to the restaurant! My go-to place for brunch in yyc!

We loved trying Maven and would definitely go back again. The decor was beautiful with all of the greenery and a had a homey atmosphere. To start we got a cappuccino and a latte which were both great. We ordered the truffle mushroom Benedict which was absolutely delicious. Perfect amount of truffle, poached egg and the fried bread was not heavy at all. We also ordered the Kaya French toast that had coconut pandam custard that was amazing. Not overly sweet, fresh with the fruit and no need for syrup. The service was great! Our waiter had great recommendations. We would definitely come back on our next trip. This is a great place for vegetarian options.

We've been to maven twice now the food has not disappointed yet! Very unique fusion dishes that are not offered anywhere else. Service is always quick and the staff friendly. And the plants! Love the cozy interior of this place!

This adorable diner instantly captured my attention with its cozy atmosphere and delightful menu. One of its most enticing features? Breakfast served all day long! From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with exceptional hospitality. Not only that, the food was fantastic. From fluffy pancakes to perfectly cooked eggs and crispy bacon, every bite was wonderful. In conclusion, if you're in search of a charming spot to enjoy breakfast any time of day, this delightful diner is the perfect choice.

Service was amazing! The new menu is delicious - I loved the corned beef Pan de Sal breakfast sandwich - the Pan de Sal was fluffy and warm, and the corned beef was so tender. Panna cotta is one of my favourite desserts so I'm happy to still see it on the menu.

Five stars for brunch. If you are heading back from a holiday in Banff, you should treat yourself and go to this Gem in Calgary. Unique style as the plates were decorative, cute small garden out front, and quaint small brunch spot. Service was good and received great recommendations on the menu. Bring your appetite because as you can see from the photo the portion sizes are more than adequate. Use the Yelp App to join the waitlist made getting in a breeze and I can't wait to come back to Banff and make my brunch stop at Maven again. You won't be disappointed!

Used to love this place, but now have had an awful experience. Because they recently changed their menu, my partner could not find anything that they would like to order. We felt bad about that, so we ordered some drinks. I was overcharged by three dollars for a mimosa that was supposed to be on special and on the menu the price of sparkling water is not listed. Their suggested 22% tip rate would have put us at $32 for a cup of coffee, a water, and a discounted cocktail. Very disappointing to someone who has been coming there since 2021.

Cute spot to stop by for brunch! We came by after landing in Calgary for our first meal. There's a good amount of street parking and we didn't have any trouble finding a spot. There's two spaces - the more restaurant section in the front and the cafe in the back that's the plant space. We were seated in the plant cafe and loved the decor. For food we split the hoisin duck benedict and braised beef cheeks. Both had good flavors - the duck benedict came with a big salad and thin slices of duck. It was a bit odd that it was served on a slice of sourdough bread rather than english muffins but the flavors worked well together. The braised beef was also super flavorful but had a good amount of fat that was inedible. It came with spaetzle which was an interesting twist but I found the pasta to be too heavy with the braised beef and it didn't have a ton of flavor. Overall a cute spot for brunch and would recommend to stop by!

We came here as they were one of the featured restaurants for yyc hotchocolatefest. Needless to say, I had the orange/chocolate, which was delicious, with a shot of espresso! They were incredibly busy so the server took awhile to take our order. I had candied, bacon eggs Benedict, with oven roasted potatoes and sour cherry jam. My boyfriend had a mimosa and the bannock funghi eggs Benedict Both dishes were delicious Cute hipster place

The food was good, filling without leaving a greasy, msg laden mouthfeel and the portions were adequate. Maven also offers gluten free alternatives even though nothing is labelled well. However, the thing that got me is the waitress offered still or sparking water --which is normally complimentary in other establishments-- then billed us about four bucks per bottle. Sure, I could have been more thorough checking the menu but water really isn't something one thinks about.

First time at Maven for brunch. It will definitely not be my last. The food was plentiful and super delicious! The service was impeccable from first arrival to end of meal. The staff were amazing and kudos to them all. Thank you Carla (back of house cafe) for indulging my humour and our server Martina for your friendly smile, service and numerous coffee refills. Ambiance was great with the displays of plants and use of vintage plates. If I have one little take away is that it can be quite loud but if that's all then WooHoo! I would highly recommend using the "wait list" option. Worth it!

I loved my Tokyo breakfast. Not sure what my friend got -- so I'll only review my dish. Serving proportions looks small but is actually quite filling. Quality was good. Nothing amazing tho. I found this to be a creative breakfast selection. I enjoyed Service was great! They check your coats for you which I was happy about. Ambiance is cute and is a vibe. Clean and well maintained. Enjoyed my brunch. Will go again.

Wow. Came across this spot. Pictures looked good and we set out to find it. We walked about a mile and were thoroughly impressed. Our waitress was a believer and could talk about all the dishes with a passion. I had an eggs Benedict with the rosemary candied bacon. OMG. Quite possibly the best breakfast I ever had. Wow. Highly recommended.

Amazing brunch place! We got there around 9am on a Saturday and were seated promptly. The decor is nice and vibrant--Art Deco-y with cute plates. There's an open kitchen, so you can watch the chefs make your food in real time. Drinks: I started off with a chai latte, which had a nice sprinkle of nutmeg on top. It was very smooth and actually came out at the perfect temperature--not too hot or cold. I also did the Beach Episode, a tart, slightly fruity mocktail with a tea base--delicious. My partner liked the coffee, but I can't render judgment because all black coffee tastes like sludge to me. We each ordered a brunch entree and they were both the perfect portion. I got the ginger saffron French toast, which came with incredibly thick slices of very fluffy bread--possibly the thickest French toast I've ever had. It comes with jam, cream, and a ginger-y, custard-y sauce, which was excellent. I find French toast to be too sweet sometimes, but this was the perfect level of sweetness. My partner got the citrus hoi sin duck eggs benedict, which had duck meat and poached eggs--maybe they were duck eggs but seemed like regular eggs to us. The sauce was rich and creamy and the pickled blueberries added a nice tang to the whole thing. The potatoes on the side were crisp on the outside but nice and soft on the inside. We were both very impressed by it, although I didn't pick up as much on the citrus. The prices were super reasonable for the quality, and they have a lot of creative and interesting-looking dishes. Would highly recommend for brunch.

Best brunch place ever! I absolutely adore this place. Small but very nice and comfortable. Service is fast and the waiters are very friendly and attentive. Their menu is great and the prices are good. Good thing to know: make a reservation before going because it's really hard to find an empty table. The last time I went I got the Cedar Honey Granola Pancakes. Very yummy! It's light but tasty. Visually speaking, it looks great with all the colours mixed all together.

Service and food are terrible. Waiting an hour for a poached egg that was raw and stone cold hash browns. Worst brunch I've ever had in Callgary and one of the most expensive.

There were 4 of us that had breakfast. The ambience was nice but none of us really enjoyed what we ordered.

Delicious, clean and healthy food!! We got a latte, lemon french toast and Tembeling road noodles. This was honestly the BEST noodle dish I have ever tried! The service was just amazing and the servers were excellent, quick and very engaging.

The food is amazing. The best brunch I've been in Canada. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, and the service is amazing and friendly.

We lucked out on snagging a table on a Friday morning without a rezy. The service was quick and efficient and the portions were larger than anticipated! I had the chicken/potato w/poutine and my husband had the benedict. We'd have come back for a second time, if we'd had more days in Calgary for our trip. The decor was also very calming and quaint with the plants and provided a charming meal experience.

My friend and I both had the salmon hash and while it smelled delicious there was virtually no flavour (needed a lot of salt) and it was quite oily leaving us both pretty dissatisfied. Cappuccino was ok but felt like it was served a while after it had been made. Mimosas and the atmosphere was nice though. Overall ok but wouldn't be a first choice to return to.

My partner, and I were regulars for awhile and still call it one of our yyc faves to date. Gorgeous atmosphere and the tastiest most innovative and creative dishes. Wait staff are well trained and the plant shop in the back is a beautiful touch. LOVE THIS PLACE !

Everything was wonderful! The service and food were both excellent. We visited the restaurant for my birthday brunch and our server even presented me with a little plant as a gift! My favorite item on the menu was the bacon; it was thick and perfectly seasoned. However, my grandmother ordered a spicy dish, as she enjoys spicy food, but it turned out to be a bit too much for her. So, if you are also considering a dish with heat, I would recommend asking for it to be prepared with a little less spice.

Food is indeed worth the hype! The wait times are always super long but the food is worth it and the service is good!

Visiting from LA! I loved the restaurant concept and the food was exceptional. Food came out fast & our server was so kind. Will be back next time I'm in Calgary for sure. Oh also this is one of my top restaurants (we've eaten out almost every meal for a week).

This is a great restaurant. It's extremely popular on the weekend. Make sure you are on the Yelp app early to reserve your spot. For a 12:00 seating you might have to put yourself on the waitlist at 9:30. However, in general I love the yelp app. You can wait at home and head to the restaurant closer to when a table is ready. The food was good. I ordered the Bannock Benny. Love the Bannock and the poached egg. I did not like their hash browns. I personally can make better hash browns at home. They do have a really extravagant menu with various different options pending on what you feel. I do like the plant store concept. It's quite neat. Overall, a great place for brunch. If you have time on the weekdays I would go then instead.

This new establishment in Calgary has a different approach to brunch So many flavours going on in a single meal It's plated beautifully and perfect portion sizes I thought. We had a starter to brunch with Bannock and this creamy dip Don't remember what they called it our server asked us if we wanted to try it and glad we did It was delicious Our mains were bennies and a salmon dish for my wife Both were really good also and the coffee was great ! Our sever was on it from start to finish making for a very nice meal. Definitely a place to check out if your looking for a creative menu. I really enjoy my visits to Calgary and this restaurant ads to the fun ;0)

This place was amazing. It was my favorite spot we ate in Calgary. We came in without knowing we should have made a reservation, but luckily got seated quickly. This restaurant decor was so comfy and cute, it's also a plant shop. I loved the open kitchen concept, it felt like we were sitting in the chef's home kitchen. A lot of the menu items were Asian inspired, which made my mouth water. I wish I could try every item on the menu. We started with the house toast butter and jam. I really loved the butter lol. I got the "My breakfast in Tokyo" and I was obsessed. The miso soup was so comforting and the pairing with the seaweed, egg, rice and salmon was delightful. 10/10 would recommend this dish. My friend got the spicy crab fried rice. She said it was spicy but so good. Her husband got the cedar honey granola pancake and he said it was good. My husband got the house buttermilk pancakes and said the fruit and whipped cream was delicious. He also ordered the bacon and everyone liked it. The descriptions on the menu made it that more appealing and heartwarming. Take me back to Calgary so I can eat at Maven every day.

This was our first time visiting Maven and they did not disappoint! Everything we ordered and tried was so delicious, and they have something for everyone. Whether you're looking to have something sweet or more savoury there are plenty of options, but the fry bread with cream is definitely a must try! Can't wait to come back for our next visit.

OVERALL: Maven was one of our favorite brunch experiences... ever. FOOD: I had the Lanzhao Braised Beef Cheeks and my wife had the (Calgary) Stampede special. I am still dreaming about that beef because it was SO GOOD. The beef was tender and delicious. My wife's special had a soft egg on French toast and a "sweet and spicy donut" - it was the right combo of savory and sweet for her. If I had to describe it, the food is Asian fusion done right. DRINKS: We had a Cappucino and a Latte, which were great. AMBIANCE: This restaurant doubles as a plant shop. If I had to describe it, it would be tropical art deco. SERVICE: Great. From the hostess to our main server to others checking in and bringing food, everyone was attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. PARKING: To my knowledge, there's only paid parking in this area. CHILDREN/FAMILY-FRIENDLY: We had a high chair and there is a changing table in one of the bathrooms.

Loved Maven, excellent service, tasty food, reasonable prices, lovely ambiance. A wee bit noisy if you are seated right next to the kitchen but it's a fun liveliness. Have already made another reservation to return :-)

Drinks were great. Breakfast yummy. Classic maven breakfast was a little small portioned for my appetite. I was keen on receiving great service and found everything in Carla. Great job.

Great local place with something for everyone. Traditional breakfast options, some fusion breakfast plates and the specials are always worth trying. The staff is friendly and it's always a pleasurable dining experience.
