"Amsterdam's Canal Ring: A UNESCO World Heritage Site Beyond tulips, windmills, and weed, Amsterdam's global image is entwined with water. The Canal Ring (Grachtengordel) is made up of 165 fluid channels developed during the 17th-century Dutch Golden Age. In the ensuing years, the water network has supported maritime trade while evolving into a centerpiece of one of the world’s most recognizable urban landscapes. In 2013, on its 400th birthday, UNESCO added the Grachtengordel to its list of World Heritage sites. Today the Canal Ring is both a historic transportation system and a stunning backdrop for local festivals and celebrations. The canals, notably Prinsengracht, are packed with partygoers on annual festivals like King's Day (formerly Queen's Day), in April, as well as Gay Pride and Grachtenfestival in August. Canal cruises offer an excellent introduction to city sights and are a great way to see Amsterdam."

Delighted to have discovered this absolute gem of an apartment perfectly located in the historic city centre overlooking the Prinsengracht Canal. Our four night stay was great from start to finish and very good value for money. I haven't included any photos because what you see on the Decor and other websites is exactly what you get, namely a very comfortable, nicely decorated and furnished space featuring a bedroom, sitting area, kitchenette and bathroom, everything we needed. The room was warm and spotless (cleaned every day). The bed was large and very comfortable and we slept well. The kitchen had a handy kettle, microwave, dishwasher, cutlery, crockery, etc. The bathroom has a bath and shower and toilet. Hand and bath towels were also changed everyday. We prefer self-catering as we like the flexibility and freedom to come and go at our own pace and the Decor Canal House enabled us to do exactly that. There were plenty of food shops/supermarkets, etc nearby. Being British the only thing we brought from home were teabags! As the apartment is located in the rather upmarket Nine Streets area, there are many lovely shops to check out and spend a few euros in. The only thing that took us slightly by surprise (and that's partly because we haven't travelled abroad for a long time) was how digital Amsterdam is. We took some cash but more often than not found ourselves using Apps and Smartphone tech to pay for things and book things. We didn't get round to using the trams because Amsterdam is extremely walkable and we clocked up lots of steps. We had originally planned to do the touristy things, eg. museums, etc but actually ended up just exploring and relaxing because there is such a laid back atmosphere. Why rush around when you can take your time. People were very friendly and helpful, in particular Jonathan, the manager, and his superb housekeeping team who do an excellent job. Many thanks for a lovely break and all going well we hope to see you again in summer 2026.

Room is clean enough. Problems resolved quickly with TV. If you want to hear everything around you including what sounds like partying elephants above your head this is the place for you. Incredibly noisy and impossible to sleep due to people upstairs.

This cute boutique accommodation is located in one of the best areas of the center. Many great cafés, restaurants and trendy shops just walking distance. The view of the canal from the room's window is very relaxing and joyful...the room is spacious, the bed is comfortable, and management is very friendly.

Beautiful room to rent right on the canals. The owner was very kind and helpful and gave us many recommendations of places to visit and eat in Amsterdam. The smaller, hidden nature of the place made us feel like more of a local than a tourist in a large hotel. We enjoyed our stay here and would go back again!

This place is oversold to say the least. We booked for 4 nights in the De Prins room - a tiny room on a second floor walk-up. Good thing we’re New Yorkers and are used to walk-ups, nonetheless the steps are small and narrow for my size 12 feet fiancé. There is no partition between the shower, sink and toilet. The room is fairly clean but very spartan, reminiscent of a college dorm if one is lucky enough to have his/her own room. Check-in is really late at 2pm and no one answers if you text to check in a bit earlier. This place would be perfect for college grads whose trips are funded by their parents and are looking to party. It is in a great location. If you have the money to stay here, you’re better off staying at an Ibis or somewhere that’s not directly on the canal. P.S. we came back from dinner and noticed a strong stench in our room, probably from the sewer in the bathroom. This is not ok.

This apartment is a real find. Wonderful views onto one of the canal and a very well equipped apartment with everything you need. The bed was very comfortable. The host Jonathan was very helpful and kind. The location is excellent-only 15-20 minutes walk to the museums and galleries.

The owner Jonathan was very friendly and incredibly welcoming, generous, and helpful in advice on how to experience the city. The space was very clean and comfortable. This is a very quiet and beautiful part of Amsterdam, but also a short walk from many popular sights.
