I dined at Dalia Paris on my own and overall had a good experience. I started with the white tarama (€11) made with smoked cod roe, chive oil, and mustard seed pickles. It was lovely, smooth, well balanced, and full of flavour. I ordered a side of flatbread to go with it, which is worth noting as it doesn’t come automatically with the tarama.
For my main, I chose the flame-grilled beef & cauliflower skewer (€18), served with cauliflower purée, roasted cauliflower, red onions, walnuts, oregano, and a chili–white wine mayonnaise. The flavours were great and everything was well cooked. I ordered the beef medium, though in hindsight I wish I’d gone for medium rare. I hesitated to ask, not wanting to risk being misunderstood in English. That said, the beef was still tasty and I ate it all 🙂
I also ordered a glass of red organic wine. The wine itself was okay but had a slightly funky smell, and unfortunately there was a bug in the glass. The staff did take the glass away and pour me a new one, but they didn’t change the glass, and my lipstick mark was still visible. While not a huge issue, I would have expected a clean glass given the situation, as it wasn’t very pleasant.
Overall, it was a good dining experience with solid food and interesting flavours. I suspect Dalia would be even more enjoyable with a group, but it still worked well for a solo meal.
