The 5 Best Hostels in Venice (Updated 2025)

"If you prefer privacy over dorms, I found Combo Venezia feels more like a boutique hotel than a backpacker hostel: there are no dorm rooms but affordable private rooms and fully furnished apartments in a beautifully restored historic convent centrally located in Centro Storico. The property includes a bar-restaurant with an outdoor terrace along the canal, 24-hour reception, a huge cloistered courtyard, a communal guest kitchen (and kitchens in the apartment-style rooms), laundry facilities, and clean, comfy modern rooms all with en-suite bathrooms and good water pressure — overall you get a lot for the price in a central, canalside setting." - Matthew Kepnes

We had a fantastic stay! The place was spotless, the bed was comfy, and the canal views (from the upstairs suite) were lovely. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location was great, just a short walk to the vaporetto stop, making it easy to explore Murano and Burano. We also didn't have too far to go to get to Piazza San Marco – about 30 minutes on foot. One tiny suggestion: the rooms could use a bit more decoration – they're a bit plain and could benefit from a bit more personality.

Combo Venezia was an amazing place to stay for so many reasons. It was conveniently close to the ferry stop where the Alilaguna ferry to the airport leaves from. It was also a short walk to most attractions, the Jewish quarter, and was a lovely place to walk around at night. The restaurant and cafe/bars onsite were very convenient, and the reception staff were readily available. The grounds and courtyard areas inside the restored convent were all beautifully done and provided a peaceful place to have a drink with friends or to find a quiet corner to read a book. The breakfast was absolutely top class, and the coffee machine, although seriously overworked, did an amazing job. Oh, and did I mention the gym? Absolutely the best hostel I've ever stayed in.

Clean basic accommodation. Helpful staff. Good breakfast but they seriously need to invest in another coffee machine. |Lovely courtyard to relax in after a long day exploring |There was cooking facilities in the room but very little equipment. |Lovely wee Coop supermarket a few minutes away for the basics. Fresh pasta, sauce and salad was our staple dinner if we weren’t out. |Felt very safe in the accommodation and the surroundings. |Very close to water bus stop and Mirano

We had a lovely stay here. I was slightly concerned as the rooms looked very industrial/hipster and not our usual thing but I was swayed by the character of the rest of the building. Lounging on the sofas in the cloisters like some boho artist on a grand tour of old was bliss. Be warned, you won’t want to get up as it’s so comfortable and there is always awesome chilled music in the background. It’s hard to describe the vibe of this place, it just has a lovely relaxed feeling. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, staff are helpful, breakfast is plentiful and varied and the rooms are HUGE. (We had a superior twin). The hotel is in a great area, an easy walk to all the main sites with nice bars and restaurants and a supermarket very nearby. If you are getting the main boat transfer from the airport the stop is literally around one corner and a two minute walk away. Also, if I was a younger solo female traveller I would feel very safe here. We were going to stay in Mestre in one of the big chain hotels, I’m so glad we didn’t.

Staying in this hostel was a really cool experience. The atmosphere was very unique since the hostel is located in an old cloister from the 12 th century so it was a nice mixture of old architecture and modern flair. The rooms are quite simple but stylish and clean and depending on where they are located in the building, you have a nice view on one of the canals. The hostel staff was welcoming and friendly and you even get a welcome drink at the bar. We enjoyed spending time at the beautiful inner courtyard where you can just enjoy a drink and hang out on couches or even eat your breakfast there the next morning. We can absolutely recommend this place and would love to come back!

Gorgeous place. If I come to Venice again, I'll stay there. Maybe location is not the best for tourists, but I came for work and for me it was perfect to stay a bit out of tourist paths. And Venice is walkable anyway. Interior designers did amazing job combining the historical heritage and modern comfort in rooms. The restaurant offered nice dinner and overall there were a lot of nice facilities. Highly recommend

I was surprised by how good this place was! Converted from a historic monastery and hosts student dormitory, hostels and apartments, Combo was surprisingly modern and well kept. Even the shared room was spacious and offered more personal space than any hostel I had ever stayed. Set up like a student dorm, a set of shared rooms has its own kitchen that is better equipped than most Airbnb and bathroom (which provides towels and shampoo gel)! I would definitely return here next time I come to Venezia.

This place was absolutely amazing! The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast buffet was plentiful. I was so blown away by the cleanliness particularly. They have housekeeping come by everyday to even mop the floors. I’ve never seen that in a hostel. The room setup is also unique. I’m in a 6 female dorm, but there is only 2 people per room. So each 6 block has multiple rooms where you share with one other person. We also have our own living space with kitchen and all. Would stay here 100x over!!
