"Noboribetsu Onsen & Jigokudani (Hell Valley) Part of Shikotsu-Toya National Park, Noboribetsu Onsen is a resort town with baths fed by around 3,000 liters (793 gallons) of water from the hot spring known as Jigokudani, or Hell Valley. It earns its nickname from the impressive plumes of sulfur-scented gas that escape from the area's volcanic rocks. A popular tourist attraction, the spring's therapeutic waters contain a range ofminerals—not only sulfur but also various salts andiron."

Well it’s free. There are seat pads and even towels available to use. Sulfur smell is tolerable. It’s a nice and satisfying experience.

Unique place something you cannot see often. Visited during the time of evening when the sky was exceptionally beautiful. To enjoy the foot bathhouse you prob would have to come during its season since its not available all the time. Personally the smell of sulfur was more memorable for me in a good way than it was bad.

Noboribetsu Onsen is a hot springs area 7 kms from Noboribetsu train station. It's easily reached by local bus. It is home to Hell valley and Oyunuma, a hot lake. There are various hotels, Japanese inns and restaurants. It can easily be visited as a day trip from Sapporo.

I just love the spectacular & breathtaking view here. It's so wonderful, I can't even describe it with only words. The majestic scenery makes me speechless. Getting here is also very easy. Just take a train from Sapporo to Hakodate & make a stop at Noboribetsu station. From there, buy your bus ticket at the vending machine. And wait for the special bus to take you to the onsen town area.

we were stayed at yumoto hotel noboribetsu and really love it! their onsen are awesome! really loved their open air onsen on 3rd floor (they switched onsen for men or women daily, check the signboard) both dinner and breakfast are well made! Bus stop just across this hotel, minimarket and drugstore on walking distance. They offer discount coupon to visit date jidamura village and bearpark. but too bad we didnt have much time left before leaving this onsen town. The hotel staffs really polite and keep our luggage since we were check out at 10 a.m and the bus depart at 12.50

Small hot spring town with variety of hot springs to choose from. You can enjoy bathing in an open-air hot spring.
