"Cappuccino at Cortázar's favorite café Buenos Aires is filled with historic bars and cafés, but London City, recently reopened after significant restorations, is worth seeking out for two reasons: its literary pedigree and its fantastic location. The café was the particular favorite of one of Argentina's great writers, Julio Cortázar, who wrote his novel Los premios (1960) while seated here. Today, the outward-facing sidewalk tables on Avenida de Mayo are a perfect place to stop for coffee (or a glass of wine) and watch the world go by."

What a lucky find while wandering the streets of Buenos Aires. The building was beautiful and the food was fabulous. Our server, Sebastian, was excellent and very helpful as he knew a bit of English (our Spanish is very limited).

A FOODIE’S UNEXPECTEDLY DELIGHTFUL HIGH TEA in Buenos Aires. It brings back fond memories 😎😎😎. It a large establishment with a high-ceiling dining hall, a tent and a takeaway counter for British goodies. Two lovely pots is tea: Oolong and Assam are just what one needs on breezy cool day. The ham and cheese sunnies😊😊😊 are just a great touch. Bread and butty are substantial. The Ravioli is quite light yet so very appetizing for today’s tea.🤗 The Tuna Pie, though not a usual British fare, is the tradition of pies. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 Crackling pastry crush, very thin, and a very packed filing of tuna chunks, onions and herbs. IT IS HEAVENLY! (Tuna is generally found in Cornish pasties, but Tuna Pie is quite a novelty… thank you 🙏) Service is outstanding. While the dining hall looks very grand, the tent is a very good idea. It reminds me of summer dining tents in the English and Scottish countrysides.😊😊😊.

New London is a historic restaurant in a perfect spot along Avenida de Mayo, offering a lively atmosphere. The staff is friendly and kind, though no English is spoken. The tapas and the selection of homemade rolls brought out before the meal were excellent. We started with a salad featuring hummus, which was very flavorful. Unfortunately, the main dishes—spaghetti and a personal pizza—lacked seasoning. The pizza resembled a lukewarm piece of pita bread topped with roasted tomato and mozzarella, and the pasta was similarly bland. I didn’t taste any garlic, oregano, or other herbs. I’m glad we gave this restaurant a try and overall it was a good experience, but I don’t think I’d have a reason to return.

They are good in a general way but it’s a very pricey place. So when you go there be careful with your wallet!!! Haha…..😄 and you cannot find price on the English translation on the app! 🤨

An interesting restaurant decorated quite authentically. The food is generally good, but nothing fancy. The meat was soft, but the mussels in the seafood pasta had sand in them. The service was excellent. The prices are quite high, but in this location it is justified.

Delicious cakes with a generous portion. Good quality English breakfast tea. Glad we couldn't get into the "famous" cafe down the road and chose this place instead.

We had our lunch here. Our waiter, Johnny, spoke decent English which made our selection of food items bit easier. He was very courteous and helpful. We had the “Tutti-Fruity” drinks and smoked salmon sandwiches and coffee.
