10 Best Museums in Bangkok

"The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) is a five-story museum with more than 800 works. The stark, modern building was created to look as though it was carved from one piece of granite; cascading jasmine designs on either side project natural light onto the atrium floor inside. There are several floors of permanent exhibits, plus seasonal shows (including, most recently, the elephant-focused "Legend"). The art isn't packed in, and there's plenty of room to admire one piece at a time." - Katie Lockhart

You will discover beautiful art spread across six floors of this museum. It is recommended to allocate at least two hours to fully enjoy your visit. The museum features intriguing paintings and sculptures created by Thai artists. After exploring, consider visiting the café. The best way to reach the museum is by using Grab. There is also a designated area to store your belongings if needed, and they accept credit card payments.

I visited MOCA Bangkok on a weekday and had a really great experience. There was no waiting time at all, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The entrance fee was around 300 baht (if I remember correctly), and it was definitely worth it. The collection is impressive — a wonderful mix of contemporary Thai and international artworks. I could take my time and really enjoy every piece. The museum itself is very comfortable, clean, and well-designed. There are plenty of chairs around, so if you get tired walking through the galleries, you can easily sit down and rest for a while. There’s also a museum store where you can buy some nice merchandise and souvenirs, and a café where you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee after exploring. Overall, it’s a great place to spend a few quiet hours appreciating art. Highly recommended if you’re in Bangkok and love modern art!

The pieces were so good, we enjoyed seeing them all. Each area for the exhibit was so spacious. The art were mostly paintings by various artists and minimal local antiques. The location was a bit far from the city but was accessible. They also have a cafe at the ground floor which was a plus!

The museum is worth the visit and i have no idea why I kept putting it off for so long. It is a 5 floor building with a great design. The works of art are worth contemplation and it is very easy to navigate the exhibitions. There was no wait but there were other guests. There are lifts and escalators which means anybody with limited ability can enjoy the museum. Toilets are available at each floor. You get to learn about Thai artists and appreciate their artistic paths. The tickets as advertised cost 300 or 150 if discounts are applied. Payments made in cash or by card. No food or drinks are allowed as mentioned on the website. Bags are left in the deposit. The staff were kind and informative. Overall, a great visit and you will enjoy it if you would like to learn about Asian art. If you have any questions, check the museums FAQ section before coming. Ps. Some reviewers miss the point. One mentioned staff were rude and only smiling people should be employed. With that logic, perhaps Thailand should only allow tourists who are courteous, kind, polite… and obviously fast 😉. Enjoy your visit.

Experience of a life time. Such an incredible collection of Thai and international art. Felt so special to be summered in the Thai culture. Last time here was more than 10 years ago, so happy to be back again. Worth every moment.

Google
The most beautiful museum in Bangkok. Visited on Friday and was not crowded before 2pm. It's near the immigration office (Lak Si station) so it's a perfect day trip to this area if you need a visa extension and quiet time for art.

What a marvelous museum. Nice and serene environment, well lit art work and of course the art itself. You can easily spend multiple hours here. Just go and enjoy.

One of the best surprises in Bangkok. The building itself is beautiful and full of light, and the collection gives a great overview of modern and contemporary Thai art – from huge, detailed paintings to sculptures and more experimental pieces. You can easily spend a few hours here wandering through the floors without feeling rushed or crowded. What I really liked is how calm and well organised everything is. The spaces are quiet, air-conditioned and very well maintained, with clear signage and friendly staff. It’s a perfect break from the chaos of the city and a must-visit if you’re even slightly interested in art or design. Totally worth the trip and the ticket price.
