DomQuartier Salzburg

Wonderful experience for the whole family. We got to dress up as lords and ladies, which was alot of fun. Large array of beautiful antique furniture. The art section is very interesting and quite extensive too. Roof terrace has a breathtaking view, and then only the religious section starts. You will need 2hrs atleast and even then you will need to rush to finish.

Visited DomQuartier Salzburg and found it very interesting. There are many church-related displays, including religious artworks, historical objects, and beautifully preserved rooms connected to the cathedral and archbishop’s residence. The exhibitions give good insight into Salzburg’s religious and cultural history. A worthwhile visit if you’re interested in church heritage and historical collections.

I would not come here if it is your first time in Salzburg, but if you have already seen the town and fortress, then visiting this place would not be a waste of time. If you are going to listen to the information in the audioguide, put at least 3h for the visit! For just looking around, 2h should be enough. The visit is organized as a one way route. There are few restrooms on the way. Audiogiude is free and in several languages. You can check it on the museum website. There is a free wifi in the museum, mostly stable enough to listen all the stories. The museum has a cloakroom and lockers. Lockers are spacious enough to put a standard handluggage trolley. I did not see a locker of a full suitcase size, but maybe there is one at a different entrance or you can try to ask people in the cloakroom to keep it, they seem quite helpful. There is a coffee area close to the gallery with paintings. I am not sure if they have a large selection, but some basic bite you can have for sure.

I did not take any photos of inside, it is primarily all the historical objects used by aristocrats, which I find quite boring personally. I guess I am too jaded by traveling too many places in Europe which ended up all looking like. But I appreciate the opportunity to visit here. Except for the lady on the 3rd floor, all staffs are kind here.

Great museum that has little of everything. If you go around 11 and make it to the cathedral portion by noon, you can hear the organ play up above the cathedral which is magical.

It's worth a visit, the tour takes a long time and there's a lot to see. Beautiful view of two squares from the museum balcony!

This place is definitely worth a visit. Very palatial, wonderful exhibitions, access to the attic of the Dome organ and the adjacent terrace with a beautiful view. A very interesting museum, with centuries-old exhibits. You can see the representative chambers of the archbishop, an art gallery and works of sacred art. The most interesting thing for me was the opportunity to admire the cathedral’s interior from above, from the organ gallery.

Wonderful place from outside as well as inside. The cathedral is impressive and the museum part is very interesting too. There were several exhibitions available and we can only recommend visiting them.

Surprisingly good sequence of museums for a region with limited history. We visited the DomQuartier on a Wednesday morning. The museums were decently busy, but there was room to breathe in each exhibit hall. The museum sequence begins with the state rooms which are in good condition with beautiful decorations on the ceilings. The audio guide provides a wealth of information pertaining to every room. The collections related to the two churches have a decent amount of material, but nothing particularly exceptional. The museum also affords you a view from the position of the organist of the Salzburg Cathedral. The view is fantastic. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the DomQuartier and would recommend a visit if you have two days in Salzburg.
