Located in the Galilee section of Narragansett, next to the boat entrance to Pt. Judith pond, where the ferry, fishing and pleasure boats access the ocean and in front of Salty Brine State Beach, you couldn't ask for a better spot.
Parking can be a bear in the summer. Georges does have it's own parking lot to the left of the building. There is also a free 2hr lot across the street if you can find a spot. On street parking is limited. Paid beach parking is located to the right of the restaurant. Several other private paid lots are scattered around the village.
In summer they offer dining on the beach. Sand in your toes, wind in your face, seagulls looking for a snack and beach appropriate music. Chill vibe. They also offer take-out window service near the entrance in the summer, along with a beach shop in case you need a pail, sunscreen, t-shirt or the like.
Enter the building from the beach parking lot side. A hostess stand is directly inside as is a waiting area. They will seat you in one of the lower dining areas facing the street. We always head upstairs and try to get a table overlooking the boat traffic in and out of the pond.
On busy days there is another hostess upstairs. This level has three indoor dining areas, bar seating plus an outdoor patio overlooking the ocean. Casual, beach attire is expected. The ambiance is very comfortable, slightly upscale, boating/nautical/local art adorns the walls.
The food is well prepared. Can't say I've ever had a bad meal here. Staff get busy in summer and are not as chatty as in the off season, but everyone is professional and know their job. Mixed drinks are well made and they offer a few beers on tap, the usual house wine offerings, coffees, teas and soft drinks.
Georges has been around for decades and continue to offer good fare, including lobster rolls, to tourists and locals alike. It's a comfotable, casual environment, good for the whole family. When in the area it's worth a stop.
