The Last Point

This place is pure paradise! I had a deluxe bungalow with sea view, beds were so comfortable, room was spacious and linen was fresh and clean. The food menu was awesome, I absolutely loved the rice soup and the fresh dough pizza. The staff are just wonderful, everyone there is friendly, happy and one big family, they made me feel so welcome as a solo traveller that I extended my stay. They all work so hard to ensure that everyone has a nice stay, they keep the resort immaculate and clean. I watched them tirelessly upkeep and make continuous maintenance improvements during my stay here. The sea is calm and clean and so warm, the beach is beautiful the sand is white and soft and perfect for beach combing and enjoying watching the sun and moon rise. The bar is well stocked and they offer fantastic cocktails, beers and soft drinks as well as bar snacks, perfect to enjoy the beach bonfire in the evenings. The boat journey was lovely, it’s a smooth short crossing. I cannot wait to come back and enjoy this beautiful place again for Christmas! I’m so looking forward to seeing everyone again, I literally cried on the boat on the way back to mainland leaving this place. This is the most authentic place I’ve found whilst travelling Asia!

I had a very positive experience here, largely thanks to the Australian manager. He was professional, friendly, hardworking, and genuinely cared about customers. The atmosphere he created made a real difference, and it showed in how smoothly everything was run. I’ve seen a recent negative review about him, and based on my direct experience, I strongly disagree with the claims made. They do not reflect the person I dealt with at all, and I have known him for a long time. My interaction was entirely positive, and I found him to be respectful and reliable. I’m sharing this to give a fair and honest counterbalance, as reviews should reflect real experiences. The account used to leave the review is fake and the person writing the review is a compulsive liar, known by the expat community to have a very bad reputation. Anyone who has met the Australian manager knows her review is nonsense, hence it has been deleted several times. I would happily return and recommend this place without hesitation. Visited as a group to have a drink and something to eat, but, honestly, left disappointed by the lack of cleanliness, general upkeep of the place, and poor quality of food on offer. For example, there were no hand washing facilities inside or outside the toilets, which is very poor form from a hygiene POV (although we did notice some old basins smashed to pieces on the floor outside...); the tables in the bar/restaurant were covered in what appeared to be ever-increasing grime and a stickiness in the absence of a clean; and the comparatively basic Khmer dishes and pizza we ordered took two hours to arrive, despite the place being quiet, and were terrible in terms of quality when they did make it to us. The beach next to Last Point is pretty, so it is perhaps worth getting a drink and decamping there, but I wouldn't recommend giving the bar/restaurant area much of your time, and would definitely avoid getting food.

I am a great fan of The Last Point. Just a 5 min walk from doubtlessly excellent Kactus it seems like a different world - here, you are in Cambodia. I tremendously enjoyed the hospitality of the licals living there and would have loved to spend more time with them. If you are more interested in the country and less in a fancy tourist handout, book your stay here for truly memorable experiences. The food by the way is really excellent - highly recommended!

extended twice and ended up staying more than double the time i initially planned. i had a great time there, the island and its nature is beautiful, the people i met there (either staying or working here) were all so nice and fun! i really hope to come back someday :)

At 1 AM the drunk bar manager told me he was kicking me off the island right now. I didn't understand what he wanted, but it's 7 am and I'm collecting my stuff. But I do not understand the reason for me to leave. It looks like the reason is he is getting drunk and tries to dominate clients and guests for some reason. The drunken threats and some complete pathology (at some point he refuses to talk what he want from me)... So you check that you won't getting drunk somewhere around him, because there will be problems. (I like the place and I'm really ready to hear rules and live according to them. But I'm not going to let some bartender express his psychological problems and damages on me). How many times a week do I have to eat or drink at the bar with such a risk of being harassed?

The Last Point quite literally means the last point, you are essentially outside of civilisations and on one of the most picturesque parts of Cambodia! I stayed in a Hammock for the nights I was there and surprisingly slept well, the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach really do help you to sleep. The bar serves excellent food and drinks with 2 happy hours through the day. Ensure you bring enough cash with you for your stay, as well as coconut oil to ward off the sand flies on the beach!

If you want to go away from tourists and experience the "Cast Away" experience, this is the place to go. Super laid back, amazing food (homemade bread!!!!) Friendly manager. If you expect super luxury stay at a abandoned island and everything has to be delivered by boat, go to another island. This place is off the grid and everything is build and designed that way, which We love.
