"Juxtaposed against the antiquity of the Old City, the ultramodern Mamilla offers a sleek retreat from Jerusalem’s storied streets. Of course, having those ancient alleys and shuks at your doorstep is part of the fun of staying at this boutique hotel. You’ll be just outside the 16th-century Jaffa Gate, one of the city’s most fabled portals, but, before you pass through it, get the lay of the land from the Mamilla’s rooftop restaurant, where you can enjoy lunch, dinner, or drinks alongside sweeping views. The hotel is also home to the lobby-adjacent Winery, which offers some of Israel’s best bottles, and the moody Mirror Bar (with an offshoot cigar lounge), where the DJs and bartenders are experts at summoning Jerusalem’s romantic side. When it comes time for bed, retire to your stylish room, complete with clean lines, an industrial-chic headboard, and color-shifting liquid-crystal walls in the bathroom."

Mamilla Hotel, Jerusalem, Israel - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Just one block from the Old City, this 194-room newcomer is a chic respite from the capital’s trademark chaos. Designed by Italian Piero Lissoni and Israel-born Moshe Safdie, the six-story complex consists of both historic and newly built, ultramodern spaces, all of which are covered in cream-colored Jerusalem stone. Although accommodations are small—basic rooms are just over 300 square feet—they’re endowed with features like liquid crystal bathroom walls that turn opaque with the flip of a switch, deep rectangular tubs, and rain showers. Few rooms have views other than into neighboring courtyards or to the streets below, but with the hotel’s proximity to major sights like the Tower of David, it hardly matters. A small wine bar serving the country’s finest vintages sits adjacent to the lobby, while Mirror Bar is a moody and romantic spot that has nightly DJs churning out a mix of Middle Eastern and contemporary tunes. (Both bars close for Friday evening Sabbath.) During the warmer months, the rooftop lounge provides sweeping views of the Old City. Staff here eschew the Israeli gruff attitude that plagues many of the nearby luxury properties and are instead accommodating and attentive—in fact, each room is assigned a personal host."

This Sleek, Modern Hotel Sits Just Outside the Old City of Jerusalem - Hotels Above Par - Boutique Hotels & Travel

"Opened in 2009 and part of the upscale Set Collection (alongside Hotel Lutetia in Paris, the Conservatorium in Amsterdam, and Hotel Café Royal in London), this five-star property—favored by visiting diplomats and tastemakers—is located just beyond Jerusalem’s Old City walls near Jaffa Gate. Designed by Moshe Safdie with interiors by Piero Lissoni, the hotel presents a tasteful contemporary look: an airy double-height lobby, a sculptural steel staircase against pale limestone, and eclectic seating that includes antique Chinese chairs and a Barcelona couch. It operates kosher with separate meat and dairy outlets; the ground-floor Happy Fish serves dairy-friendly Israeli and Mediterranean fare (falafel, mezze and the catch of the day), while a rooftop open-air restaurant offers burgers and grilled meats with panoramic city views. Guests enjoy a ballroom buffet breakfast featuring continental choices and Israeli specialties like shakshuka; a small indoor pool sits on a lower level, and the Akasha spa—accessed via a pedestrian bridge—houses a gym, fitness classes, treatment rooms, hydrotherapy (watsu) and hammam treatments. Rooms (194 total) are clean-lined with neutral hues and colorful accents, carved stone sinks, and glass bathroom walls that switch from transparent to translucent at the touch of a button; the signature suite sleeps three and has sliding partitions separating sleeping and sitting areas. The property is adapted for observant guests with Shabbat room settings (pre-programmed lighting) and a Shabbat elevator that stops on every floor. Booking perks often include upgrades (Studio to Executive), daily breakfast for two, a one-time dining credit at Happy Fish (up to $100, excluding alcohol/taxes/gratuities), early check-in/late-check-out subject to availability, and complimentary Wi‑Fi; rates start around $486. Nearby highlights include the Old City attractions (Western Wall, Dome of the Rock, Church of the Holy Sepulcher) and a prominent shopping promenade."

Our experience at the Mamilla Hotel was outstanding. Staff members, such as Yatreb, Ido, and Itay, warmly welcomed us and were extremely helpful. The hotel's location is ideal to the Old City's historic, religious, and cultural sites. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The housekeeping service was first rate. The hotel's Fitness Center was spacious and offered lots of options. It was one of the best hotel gyms we have seen. The only issue we encountered was having a front desk staff member arrange for a taxi ride to Tel Aviv upon our checkout on October 26. There was clearly some miscommunication and the taxi driver alleged he was unaware of our Tel Aviv destination and twice attempted to overcharge us. We highly recommend that taxi rides be confirmed clearly before getting into the car. Overall, the Mamilla Hotel receives our strong recommendation!

I recently stayed at the Mamilla for the first time. I was very pleased with the room and the facilities, and the location is excellent. While all of those things contributed to my experience, what made my stay the most special was the staff. ||When you're staying in a hotel of this quality you expect staff to be helpful - effective & efficient. The team at Mamilla certainly met that expectation, but they did so with such warmth and good humour that they set themselves apart from other higher-end hotels I've stayed at in Jerusalem. From the valet & front door attendants to the front desk staff (Hamzeh T. stood out in particular) to the staff in the restaurant & bar areas, everyone was terrific and truly left me feeling like my business was valued.||Thank you for taking such good care of me!

Our stay at the Mamilla Hotel was a wonderful experience. The hotel is exceptionally clean and well-organized, with a prime location just steps away from Jerusalem’s Old City and major attractions. The rooms are beautifully designed and comfortable. While a few could benefit from some light renovation, overall they are of a high standard and very pleasant. Special attention has clearly been given to the bathrooms, which are modern, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. What truly sets Mamilla apart is the outstanding service. Every staff member we encountered, whether at reception, housekeeping, or the restaurant, was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The level of hospitality is truly first-class. In summary, Mamilla Hotel combines excellent location, elegant rooms, and world-class service. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Jerusalem.

My friends and I recently spent the weekend at the Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem—an absolute 10/10 experience! We stayed in the executive suite, which was truly amazing, and the service was next-level—something not commonly found in neighboring hotels.||A VERY special shoutout to Faris, Hamza, and Yatreb for taking care of us from A to Z. We’ll definitely be back!
