"A Classic Dive Bar That's Still the Place to Party The undisputed king of Bangkok dive bars, Wong’s Place has a character of its own. It’s hard to describe exactly why you should go to this hole-in-the-wall institution near Lumphini Park. The furniture has seen better days, the toilets are nobody’s idea of a treat, and the service ranges from eccentric to downright surly. The fact that it is now one of the few venues in the city that remains open until the wee hours might explain its popularity. But really, it’s the fact that—for all its faults—the bar retains an unpretentious “up-for-it” vibe that is largely missing from more refined places. On quiet nights, there’s not a lot to recommend it, but visit on weekends and there’s a good chance you’ll fall under its beguiling spell."

Unexpectedly great! Get your beers from the fridge and play your songs on YouTube kind of place, and the only one in the neighbourhood open till late. Mr. Wong is a true legend!

If you’re in a mood for fun, if you’re feeling down, if it’s a holiday and all the bars are closed that’s the place to be. Come here pretty late I’d say if you wanna hang out. You might find it suddenly full or very empty. It’s a 5 star for the mood support and definitely less for the price. Atmosphere is great the staff is cool too, but prices are quite hight for me. But if you catch it crowded you’re lucky you’ll always meet cool people. And if you feel like a drink even if it’s 4-5 am that’s the place. Oh they also play their music on DVD! 😅

You’ll probably love it or hate it. Either of those, this is a historical place for Bangkok nightlife. No places playing music like this anymore. I really enjoyed. Beer is 160 baht.

As a Mexican foreigner, this place made me feel right at home. I couldn't have asked for a better place to go to once I left the club. Made some good friends and overall the service and prices were wat cheaper than the club I was in. Thank you again for such a wonderful Sunday night.

Such bad reviews of this place I don't understand why. It was near where I was staying so I popped in for a drink. Pleasant place for a drink. There was zero pressure. I bought a beer, why else do you go to a bar. Staff were nice, relaxing place, super chilled and no pressure. A really relaxed place for a drink, great music, led zepp is playing right now. I suspect past reviews are from drink people not wanting to drink anymore. I chatted with staff and they are super pleasant. If your near and feel like a drink give it a go

This bar is a trap. Do not enter the place. There is nobody in there for a reason. We sat down and we didn’t want to drink alcohol. So most of us just got some water and then we asked for the bill. To our astonishment. They asked for 100 baht a bottle!! Which is incredibly overpriced. Then they proceeded to interrogate our one friend who hadn’t bought a drink, asking her to buy something. Until she sat outside. The staff were incredibly rude. The owner who was sat in the corner came over and doubled down on the interrogation. Please do not waste your time and money in this scamming place.

I don’t know why this place has any one star reviews at all, because it’s one of the best bars I’ve ever been to in my life. If you catch Wong himself, he’s a really funny/cool host, and his place is the perfect dive bar. Wongs opens late and trades well into the morning hours, so it’s a sick place to go for kick-ons. Maybe if you want a mixologist and a red carpet to be rolled out for you, this isn’t your spot, but if you get a warm and fuzzy feeling when stepping into a legit dive spot, then you can’t skip Wong's in BKK ✌️💖

So sad... only one customer, me, music is nice oldies as usual, so just chilling, and bartender puts a Thai TV show on his handphone, full sound... i ask him to turn it down a bit , he answers : "Why should I ?" Only customer walks out and swears to not come back... they're happier without those pesky customers !
