Went during Oktoberfest, but still got immediate seating and very prompt and friendly service. The food was delicious and beers refilled quickly. Tried a few different dishes and they were all wonderful. Very clean restaurant, even with the crowds and gorgeous with the history. My new favorite spot when visiting the city.

The beer and food here are really good. At lunchtime there aren’t too many people, but in the evening there’s usually a line to get inside. It’s definitely better to make a reservation in advance so you don’t have to wait too long. The staff are very polite and always do their best to find a seat for you as quickly as possible. The place has a traditional Bavarian beer-hall atmosphere, which makes the experience even more authentic and enjoyable.

The flavors of traditional German food are truly something to savor. The beer was absolutely amazing and perfectly complemented the dishes. In the center of the square, the atmosphere was lively and inviting. It was always a busy restaurant, especially during octoberfest season. Overall, it was a delightful culinary experience.

This is a München institution with rich history. The food and beer is fantastic. Online reservation was easy and convenient. We had a friendly and helpful waitress. Although it was dinner time and busy, she made everything so smooth that we felt comfortable with the wait. Fun fact: they can seat 2000 people during Oktoberfest!!

The atmosphere is really pleasant, and the place has such nice details. I absolutely loved the Kaiserschmarrn I had. You should definitely stop by here and enjoy something to eat or drink.

Beer was great, food ok. The waitstaff kept fighting over the tables…. That made this an unpleasant experience for me. . . They were just in a really bad mood. Be careful when going to the WC as you have to descend a huge staircase!

First of all, this place is HUGE! But service flies, they are quick on their feet and very attentive. Prices are also very affordable compared to many other spots in Munich. And if you like and original German pub/Beer Garden atmosphere, then you absolutely must stop by.

This Augustiner is very centrally located to Marianplatz and a good place to pop in and grab a beer on a cold day at the Christmas markets. It's a beer hall so you come in and take a seat anywhere you can find a spot even at the end of tables already half taken by another party. As a cat says...if you fits you sits. The service is super fast and the beer is of course delicious. We ordered the schnitzel and the 1/2 chicken. The chicken was good but the schnitzel was definitely not our favorite. Other branches of the Augustiner were much better. The potato salad was good and the cucumber potato salad was bright and fresh. This place is warm and bright and cozy full of loud people having a great time. So pop in for a beer or a snack!

German food classics are here and they earned a Michelin star at one point. This was our first experience with Germany so I can't have anything to compare to it but will say the staff is on point and the atmosphere was very fun. Basically anything you want to try from Germany is right here and dead smack in the middle of the heart of Munich.

Augustiner beer and food just outside of the old town. Outside seating, and a pretty diverse menu with all the usual Bavarian dishes as well as the some options for pescatarians like myself. The seafood salad worked well with the Helles beer. Bit of construction outside made the walkway (which is on a main pedestrian zone) by the seating a bit noisy and cut down on the view. This was the first bierhaus i at at my first time in Munich 30 yrs ago so my visit was a bit nostalgic. Inside is fun too, but with the lovely outdoor weather this weekend most preferred outside and i was lucky to get a table.

Standard Franconian fare. No nonsense staff get you to table, get you menus and beer. Food and beer prices good.

Came here for lunch was walking by. Was sat outside right away. We both got the Schnitzel. My husband liked his but I didn't like mine it tasted very "gamy" and I just could not get use to the flavor, maybe it's just not my thing. We got a pretzel to share that, unfortunately was hard as a rock which was disappointing. Overall, nice place to sit outside and have a lunch or dinner. Bunch of German dishes on the menu to choose from.

After visiting the Hofbrau Haus yesterday, the atmosphere here is not as touristy. Got to enjoy some seafood in a lovely mixed green salad with shrimp and smoked salmon. The rest of our table enjoyed roast chicken, sausages, and schnitzel. Food came out quickly for our party of 12

Looking for a historic beer house to go to? My best friend and I stumbled upon this place our first day in Munich back in march First impressions definitely captured our hearts as we walked into what felt like a harry potter type food/beer hall. The place was huge with so much people that we knew this was a place to be! Since we were American, we weren't accustomed to eating German food. It's served a bit cold and lukewarm. So if you're looking to eat here, you should get to know what you're bound to eat. However, the beer is fresh and top notch! Loved their beer and will most likely recommend this place to friends and family. Recommended: Original beer Bavarian pretzel, always !

I have family in Germany, Munchen being one. I asked them to take me to spots they like to visit and this was one of them. The place is massive! if you have time walk around to the different dining rooms, it's an experience in itself. We had eaten at a festival nearby so we stopped for drinks only in the bar area. I'm fortunate to have family who answer my questions so I'd like to pass some important information along. 1. Most of the times water isn't free in Germany as it's customary to serve bottled water. 2. Service isn't as warm and cuddly in Bavaria, but tipping is also less. About 5%. 3. They will leave you be unless you make it known you need something. Such as raising or motioning with your handor eye contact. 4. Go for and judge on the vibes, food and local authenticity rather than American standards. Or educate yourself and judge them on the local standards. 5. Appreciate when they do, but don't expect everyone to speak English. You're in Germany. So if you want good service, but overpriced bad food go to the tourist spots. But if you want a local experience give this place a try.

Not a fan of this beer hall at all. From the moment we walked in the host was very rude. He told us we could sit anywhere then yelled at us when we accidentally sat in a reserved section (there were no signs regarding this btw). As for the food, we ordered the sausage platter and it was a big disappointment. The sausages just tasted like American hotdogs and the mashed potatoes had to be instant mash. The beer wasn't good either and it made our stomachs upset after. Avoid this beer hall if you can. There are plenty of other good ones in Munich to try instead.

Augustiner Stammhaus is an absolutely massive beer hall with a simple menu of meaty fare to go with drinks. The Bratenpfanderl was a sampler plate that came with a quarter roast chicken, sliced roasted pork (Schweinebraten), and a quarter roasted pork knuckle (Schweinshaxe), all served in a pan with a savory jus. All the meats were juicy and flavorful, and the pork knuckle featured a nice crispy skin. The meats came with a round, chewy potato dumpling (Kartoffelknödel) and a side of Speck-Krautsalat, or pickled cabbage with bits of bacon. We also ordered a fresh salted pretzel, which was disappointingly bland, but we also had an Augustiner beer, which was light and refreshing on a hot summer's day. Overall, this was a nice place for a simple meal of Bavarian meats with beer in an atmospheric restaurant, located right across the street from St. Michael's church in Munich's Old Town.

Rude waiters and bad food,never again.Nobody can force me to pay a tip and no wc if you need of pissing so I do not advise anybody to visit there in short keep away!!

Busier than HofbrauHaus to be honest! This was our first stop because HFHaus was too busy the night we visited, but we were overall satisfied with everything except for the service. Can't say whether this was due to the world cup being on - but the servers were not timely, nor kind, nor did they make an effort to understand what we were asking (in English!). Definitely lost points on service but food was good, and so was the busy ambiance. Bathrooms were clean too. Would recommend.

I love the hofbrauhaus but in Munich there are so many good beer halls that will give you a great German experience. Augustiner is great. Lots to choose from but heads up not everything is in the English menu. It's probably what dishes are most popular with English speakers. Beer selection is great and price is the same around the area. We had the curry wurst. I had the schnitzel with red cabbage and fries. Yum.

Was excited to eat here after visiting another Augustiner location. Our extremely rude server aggressively rolled his eyes at my so-so German, demanded we order before we were ready, and nearly blew up when we asked to move to another section. He demanded we pay first, and we did; then, when we tried to move to another section (with no help or direction from other members of the staff), we were steered into an entirely different restaurant. We quickly finished our drinks and left. It's a shame, as the atmosphere is beautiful. Hopefully they change up the way they treat customers!

I had a very pleasant experience here but perhaps I value different things than some of the previous reviewers? Firstly, being from Colorado, and drinking vast quantities of beer in Germany I take my hydration very seriously. I don't mind paying for water, because to me no amount can be too much to make sure I am 1) properly hydrated and 2) not hungover. Secondly, I feel that American tourists think that waitstaff is unfriendly however if German people speak very limited English I don't know what they expect. Not to mention every Time I have been to any restaurant the staff seems to be very busy taking care of many tables so if English doesn't come easily to them and they are busy I don't know what you are expecting. Anyways I popped in here after my amazing pastry experience, and as I was in Munich for only 24 hours, I wanted something a bit more substantial for my train ride to Salzburg than just a torte. And being the basic German girl that I am I always want something simple like Weisswurst and Kartoffelsalat...And luckily for me they had both! It's a simple meal but boy was it pleasurable. The Potato salad was bomb, vinegary and just like my Omi used to make. The Weisswurst was also lovely though they only had sweet Senf (mustard) so that was not the best obviously. I ate my wurst with no mustard, which was fine by me and to be honest I didn't even ask if they had any other kind...as I mentioned the staff was busy, and it wasn't that big of a deal for me. I also had a few beers and two waters. I thought it was very reasonably priced at €24 but what do I know. For two beers, two water, two wurst and potato salad I thought that was a steal! Either way I would totally come back here. It was nice sitting outside on the busy street being able to sip a beer and people watch.

Very busy, servers were rude. Food portions were good, but we were not checked up on for nearly 30 minutes. While it may be a famous place, the experience was not a good one.

We ate dinner here with a friend on October 8. Normally this isn't at all the type of place we'd choose, since it's very loud and touristic. However, there was nothing else viable in that vicinity and we were very hungry. The positive aspects: The food was very tasty and the place was very clean. Also; the prices of the food were reasonable - but the cost of water was *outrageous* (see one of my recent reviews re: that infuriating aspect). Normally I'd choose to go elsewhere instead of paying for water (and especially that much money) - but we didn't have many options, and we were too tired to search endlessly for a possible alternative. The negative aspects: ....Our server was *VERY* unfriendly, and even our friend concurred that he was all-too-typical of servers in Munich (also elsewhere in Germany, but it's particularly true in Munich [and I say that as someone who has many friends in Germany, plus I've spent a lot of time there during the past 41+ years]). ....The noise level was really intense - and since it's a very large place, that made it even worse. ....People were smoking right up against the entrance, and the smoke wafted all the way back to where we were sitting (which was about halfway into the [very large] place).

We've visited other beer halls and this was probably the worst experience. We waited at the entrance to be seated and one staff waved for us to go further inside -- when we went further into the hall we weren't sure if there was someone who's supposed to seat us or what, as no one acknowledged us. Then we finally found a staff to ask where we should sit, and the staff basically scolded us and said rudely. "No you have to be taken to a table, you can't just sit anywhere." And walked away without telling us WHOM we should seek to get seated -- so we were left to find someone who looked like a host to take us to a table. Once finally seated the waiter at our table basically just dropped two menus on the table and said "English Menu". No greeting whatsoever. Really just minimum dialogue when we ordered our food and drinks. The waiter was really just doing the bare minimum to take our order and bring us our food. Despite the nice decor and lively ambience, we were just really put off by our waiter's poor attitude. When we paid for the bill, guess the waiter was not happy with the tip (we did not give a lot really as we felt the service was poor). The waiter was very upset and pointed to the tips left next to us yelled at us "THIS IS TIP. THIS IS TIP" as in saying what we gave was not sufficient. Then muttered something in German (probably not kind words). So if you're okay with average food with minimal service and being yelled at with not giving enough tips feel free. Otherwise there are other better places around.

This was a referral from a tour guide and I must say it was everything she said. The food was amazing and the service is what was expected. Highly recommend visiting.

We went there because of all the good reviews, especially on google. To our disappointment, the food was so blah it was not worth the money or the time. My husband had goose with potatoes and I had ravioli. Sadly, none of it was tasty :(

This was actually our first meal in Munich. We were a group of 5 and ordered several plates as to get a taste of Bavaria. We we not disappointed in either the meal, the beer or the building itself. Great place.

The waiter Gobi demanded that we give him a 20% tip on top of the bill. Even though he didn't do a very good job. He also tried to charge us for food we didn't order. The beer was the best thing about this place. Do not/will not recommend.
