This was my second MSSM experience. These photos are from the Ossington location and it did not disappoint. The service was exceptional and the premium sake taster was perfect! We ordered some extra uni because they had received some special version. 10/10 highly recommend. I think when it was all said and done it was over $500 but it was a blast.

I had an amazing omakase experience at MSSM Ossington! Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Our chef, Phil, truly made the night unforgettable — his attention to detail, creativity, and warm personality elevated the whole experience. You can tell he’s passionate about his craft. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an exceptional and intimate omakase experience in Toronto!

MSSM Ossington offers a modern omakase experience in a stylish, intimate setting. The presentation of dishes is simplistic, and the flow of the meal is well-paced. The fish is generally fresh, and some courses stand out for their creativity or seasonal uniqueness. That said, when factoring in the overall cost—typically exceeding $200 per person once drinks and optional add-ons are included—the experience may not meet expectations for everyone. While the quality of the sushi is good, it doesn't consistently reach the level of excellence seen at other omakase spots in this price range (especially compared to the US - places like New York). Similarly, the service is friendly and attentive, but not particularly exceptional given the premium you're paying. Overall, MSSM Ossington delivers a pleasant evening, but diners looking for a top-tier omakase experience might find the value proposition here to be more average than outstanding.

Had an amazing night at MSSM Ossington. The vibe, the food, the music—everything just hit perfectly. But what really made the experience stand out was our server, Phil. Phil was the definition of top-tier hospitality. Super friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu. He gave great recommendations (all of which slapped), checked in at the right moments, and made sure we felt taken care of the entire night. You can tell he actually cares about the guest experience, which is rare. The cocktails were on point, the dishes were fresh and full of flavour, and the overall atmosphere felt upscale but still comfortable. Perfect spot for a date, a birthday, or just a quality night out. Huge shoutout to Phil for elevating the whole experience. I’ll definitely be back.

We came here for my birthday celebration. They were so nice and gave me a little gift. What a nice surprise! First time testing Omakase, I've watched many videos about this, so nothing was surprising. The food was good. It makes you really taste each sushi and the fish. The service was great. Our chef could be a bit louder.

2025 May 4★ $98 omakase sushi experience all in one floor. Seating for about 20-22 reservations recommended. Washrooms Upstairs. Diners will receive a yubifuki. a small wet towel to clean your fingers while eating, gently touch it with your fingers when appropriate. Enjoy your sushi within 10 seconds once it is served. The sushi rice should be served at body temperature. Handroll: Pickled radish Toro Handroll shiso leaf, roasted sesame, wasabi The hand roll was amazing. Very well made, flavourful and tender fish yet crispy from the seaweed wrap. Appetizer: Sawara -Spanish Mackerel with turnip sauce Very good. You can taste the freshness of y fish. Sushi: Suzuki-Seabass Hotate-Scallop Kurodai-Black Sea Bream Zuke Salmon-Marinated Salmon Kasugodai-Young Sea Bream Chawanmushi Sushi Akami- Bluefin Tuna Toro- BIuefin Tuna belly Anago-Sea Eel The eel was from Hokkaido (none of those frozen Chinese eels in a sauce), souvide in Mirin and pre cooked before seared. Very good. Dashimaki with Daikon Oroshi Miso soup Dessert Cherry Blossom Blancmange Made of almond milk and creme, Sakura sauce and candied pieces. Very good. Everything was good really. It's what I would expect at a Michelin star chef owned restaurant. Note that this is different from being a Michelin starred restaurant. The negative -1. While the food was delicious. The pieces of the fish were a bit thinner than expected. Keeping prices low is a challenge I understand, but maybe make it an option. Staff wasn't very attentive and needed to call them for a water refill. Drinks are super expensive. A non alcoholic choya ume drink at $14 is a tad too much. Purchasing this is $2.5 retail. I can't imagine what the cost is at wholesale. If you're expecting to be super full, don't. If you're a average build, you might be just full of slightly under. Free parking on side streets.

I didn't have time to write the review till almost a month later. I had high expectations from Chef Saito's students , so I'll leave it as 3 stars. It's value for money especially if you're new to omakase, but as a seasoned omakase diner, it's slightly disappointed. I didn't get the chef name as he's quite soft spoken and most attention was given to the larger group of 4. Personally think most of the fish was a little overly marinated and some of them were as fresh as I anticipated. The uni kids was the add on and definitely overpriced as it's not even as fresh as it should be. I've had much better just from Taro fish market in Feb. Other than that, food in general was good, the toro handroll was definitely a miss cos the seaweed wasn't crunchy and I commented on that where chef did acknowledge he missed a step. I appreciate his honesty and acknowledgement. I personally don't like the sushi rice as well because they all fell apart the second I picked up from the plate. It's either the texture of the rice or it wasn't the chef's day. It was just a bit of an eyesore there's rice left after each sushi was being served. 😅 I also ordered premium sake flight, but I'm a little shocked that they just left the sake there when I stepped way for washroom. I was almost hesitate to drink for safety concern as I was there alone. I also had to ask the server which sake was being served in order for me to figure the order of drinking them. I think this is a miss in the service. Anyway, I still think it's good value for people newly venture in the omakase world. Would I go back? Probably not me.

We had quite the premium experience at this omakase spot. We came here to celebrate my wife's birthday, and it was absolutely lovely. Some of the add-ons were a bit pricey, but the overall experience was excellent. Our favorite was the sea urchin hand roll ($38 each) —it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
