Absolutely terrible experience avoid this place at all costs. Arrived on January 12, 2026, to a nearly deserted property. In a hotel with 40-60 rooms, I spotted only 3–6 other cars in the entire parking lot. Check-in requires using a kiosk first, which is fine in theory, but when I had questions and asked why we couldn’t just check in directly with staff, the front desk clerk was immediately condescending, snooty, and downright disrespectful. Not the welcome anyone wants, especially when you’re paying premium prices. Then we were put us in the absolute worst room possible, the farthest corner, across the street from the hot springs, right next to the maid’s closet (constant banging and noise all day) and sharing a wall with the main stairwell (every footstep echoed into our room). In a virtually empty hotel, they somehow managed to give us the noisiest, most high-traffic location on the property. Then there's the hidden fees that are outrageous and borderline deceptive. I booked through a work perks program for a quoted total of $520 for two nights. Upon check-in, the actual bill was $775, an extra $255 tacked on, largely from an unexplained “service fee” that supposedly covers basic cleaning (something literally every other hotel includes in the room rate). They also nickel-and-dime you for everything. $5 cleaning fee if you dare use a bathrobe, and who knows what else. The rooms themselves are tiny, badly outdated, and some like the one they put me in is nowhere near the “walking distance” to the hot springs that was promised in the listing. This isn’t my first stay in Ouray or at this hotel and I know there are 3–4 far superior hotels that offer better service, more charm, historic character, and unique perks. All at significantly lower prices. The only reason this place can get away with such greedy, obtuse pricing and abysmal service is the convenience of their private hot pools. One of the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I will never return. Save your money and book with one of the many quaint, better-run hotels in town and simply buy a day pass to the Ouray Hot Springs. Do not reward this overpriced, poorly managed operation with your business.
