They’re popular for rice noodle rolls and congee. The HK rice rolls are sweet but go great with chili oil!!

Iconic Guangzhou rice rolls long beloved by my family and friends. My go to is the mushroom and truffle chang fen, and sometimes the egg one. I tried the olive leaf one for the first time last week and it’s my new favourite roll. It might be new I’m not sure. My family often loves getting congee and youtiao (dough sticks). We like to finish with the sweet cruller (my mom calls it a butterfly fritter, beh hei ji, as it is known in parts of Southeast Asia).

Food was not as good as it looks, the 肠粉 (rice roll) was not very authentic, and in the shrimp and mushroom 肠粉, there were only three pieces of shrimp in the whole thing! I tell you, you can easily fit five. Prices were reasonable, and service was fine, but that still doesn’t bump the review up a star. The next time we come here, and that is IF we come here, I will expect better.

Drove 2 hours from the USA to try the Chang Fen. First time there ate in, store was cramped, loud, elbow to elbow, every table full, people waiting for a table. Paper menu outdated and didn't have all the listings so wasn't able to try everything. Since then used the app to order and picked up to take home. Far better than anything that we can get here, which will have far fewer options with much smaller portion for much higher price. Everyone in Canada complaining is basically spoiled with such good options. Veg Chang Fen options include: Plain, Egg (if you eat egg), Veg, HK Style (which is plain with the peanut/soy sauce), Sweet Corn, Dough Stick, King Mushroom, Olive Veg. The Dough Stick Chang Fen strikes me as a culinary monstrosity, similar to our Chicken and Waffles here. Two products which taste fine on their own mashed together to taste about the same (or slightly worse) together. In general recommend only the Chang Fen with stuffing inside, so Veg, Corn, Mushroom. The olive veg is just specks of something on plain which really doesn't add much flavor or uniqueness. Same with egg. Dough stick should be eaten there and not taken out, as with all fried foods, don't taste as good after they sit awhile. I can confirm the Chang Fen can be frozen and thawed and still taste decent. The app works well to save time on ordering. Suggest they add a veg congee, since plain congee anyone can make at home. If they opened a branch in Western NY, would be swamped with customers!

Excellent food at very reasonable price. Great place to have a supper with hot porridge at late night. Trust me the picture cannot speak for how delicious it is, especially the sauces: soya sauce, peanut sauce and chilli sauce are the best. Highly recommend to everyone.

I think rice noodle rolls (cheung fun) are delicious, but what impressed me the most was the black sesame soup. It wasn’t too sweet, and it wasn’t watery either—it had just the right consistency.

There’s something deeply comforting about starting the day with a warm, nourishing bowl of congee, and Yin Ji absolutely masters this breakfast ritual. From the first spoonful to the last, every visit feels like a hug for the soul—a reminder that simple pleasures can be extraordinary. Yin Ji’s congee is a masterpiece of texture and flavor—creamy, silky, and perfectly seasoned. Whether you opt for the classic Century Egg and Pork Congee or venture into their seafood-infused creations, each bowl is a testament to quality and tradition. The ingredients are fresh, the portions generous, and the balance of flavors is nothing short of magical. It’s clear that every detail is crafted with care, honoring the timeless art of Cantonese comfort food. Beyond the congee, the ambiance adds to the charm. The cozy, no-frills setting feels inviting, like a morning haven for regulars and newcomers alike. The staff radiates warmth, offering swift service with a smile, ensuring your day starts on the right note. What truly sets Yin Ji apart is its ability to turn a humble dish into a celebration of flavor. Paired with their crispy youtiao (fried dough sticks) or a side of savory toppings, it’s a breakfast experience that leaves you energized and smiling. In a world of rushed mornings, Yin Ji reminds us to slow down and savor life’s simple joys. If you haven’t tried Yin Ji yet, let this be your sign: Your perfect breakfast awaits. It’s not just congee—it’s a bowl of happiness. 🥣✨

I lovee the texture of their rice noodle rolls! very consistent, food is always good when we eat here. not a huge fan of congee in general so i personally didn’t try it, but my mom wanted to order it and she said it was delicious.

Came in today for afternoon tea instead of the usual breakfast and they did not disappoint! We had the black sesame soup and the almond soup which were both warm, silky and comforting. A perfect afternoon snack! Been coming to eat for years and the quality is always incredibly consistent for the 腸粉 and the 粥. Texture is always silky smooth for the rice rolls and for congee. Service is always fast and friendly.
