Beams Japan

Super unhelpful staff. This was the 3rd Beams I’ve gone into today looking for a backpack as a gift. I spoke in Japanese and asked staff if they had recommendations for non-American brand backpacks. Not only did they keep directing me to different floors and stores (between 2nd and 3rd floor), they not once brought me to any of the backpacks existing on either the second or third floor. Further more, they would say things like “this is the only backpack we have” when I could clearly see another design behind them. I know as well they understood me perfect and we spoke clearly to each other. They didn’t offer to help me get a backpack down to see from a height. Why treat a customer who is so interested in making a purchase with such disdain? When a white person would approach they would smile and offer to help them, while I was largely ignored even when I reached out specifically for help. If this wasn’t a lesson to not speak Japanese and flaunt tourist energy… I’m highly disappointed as this is the worst quality store service I’ve ever received. I recommend others to go to different Beams instead, because I know this is not reflective of their usually helpful nature.

Definitely a store I would recommend. Many floors with lots of unique items. Takuma was helpful and very stylish. He also has sweet hair!

Such a great store!! This is the place to find extremely high quality and wonderful souvenirs. There’s a huge array of authentic Japanese products such as soaps, knives, clothing, small gifts, sunglasses and more. The staff was extremely friendly, especially Hayato! I highly recommend this place to everyone visiting Japan

This is the largest Beams Japan, and it never disappoints. I’m especially fond of the toys and tshirts on the 4th floor (pop). There are also really beautiful clothes and shoes for men and women. The first floor is an ideal stop for souvenirs and uniquely Japanese gifts. You can pay for items from multiples floors all at once and they offer tax free for visitors.

Pop Art Floor is super cool. I spent over an hour there today. Prices are high though. Unique pieces but the quality doesn't match the price. Still, it's worth a look for the designs and artists. I still bought a couple items.

I visited Beams Japan last month. There was a great variety of interesting products and souvenirs. Dan-san was super helpful when I was searching for some traditional Japanese footwear! Definitely worth a visit!

Beams was on my list to shop at and they have a lot of fun stuff to buy starting from the first floor of unique souvenirs to more floors of men and women's clothing.

One of the coolest places I have ever shopped. The bottom floor is gifts and souvenirs and each level up is a new odyssey of the trendiest, artsiest Japanese pop culture and fashion, until you're at the top with formal menswear and accessories. It does feel like each floor is pretty "curated" so I wasn't able to find anything for myself, but definitely worth a stop if you're in Shinjuku and want to see what's current in Japanese fashion.

While exploring in the area, I was attracted by the design outside with the lanterns. A lot of people were taking pictures of the outside. I also saw quite a lot of people in the white and blue kimono (?) tops in there. I decided to check out the first floor. The store was big. There were variety of things: food, drinks, clothes, station aired, accessories, etc. Everything was pretty pricey but the designs were simple and nice. I ended up just getting 2 little device wipes (400 yen each), a sumo wrestler and a ninja design. However, waiting to pay took forever. And the payment area placement is awkward. It's in the middle of some cubbies, not sure if this is a bad description. I was next in line but this guy skipped me. How rude... I didn't say anything because I think he knew one of the staff members. They said something to each other and another staff member brought a cheese wheel thing to the payment counter. I am not trying to get into fights while abroad haha. They do tax free if you buy over 5k yen, but I didn't have that much to shell out. The payment process for me was slower compared to other places. I found it funny that they had so many people, yet they have like 2-3 people helping a customer when they could've sped up the line by processing other customers too. There was an event (KOBE) going on. Lots of staff members, a guy with a fancy camera/video, and people.

One of those shops we always drop into when we're in town. There are several Beams shops all over the city, but this one is unique in that it has more "gifty" items than the other stores. Multi-level, the upper floors are mens and womens clothing. The mens clothing floors are really tightly editted, but they do such a great job, I always feel like I want half the store. The lower floors have lot of gift and accessory items for everyone, and it's always very soothing and comforting to just browse these floors. If you're looking for a more expansive Beams experience, go to Harajuku, and go north on Meiji Dori from either Takeshita or Omotesando, and you'll see a cluster of different themed Beams shops all next to each other, which has each shop catering to a more niche clientele (ie: Beams for workwear etc, Beams for fine gentleman type gear, Beams for urban youth, Beams for small petite girls into boy style etc)
