The Yan @ Broadrayne

We had a lovely stay at The Yan - in the Smithy cottage with our small dog. The cottage had everything and more to make our short stay relaxed and comfortable . The kitchen had everything needed if you wanted to cater for yourself . With milk & water in the fridge. Little nibbles for us and the dog. Fresh coffee & tea and doggie biscuits. Everything was prepared to a high standard and was easy to find, with a bistro on site. We are vegetarians and the food was excellent . We where made to feel special by all the staff and we will definitely be back . You can even have the food in your room or cottage delivered. |The bed was super comfy with fab pillows and lovely crisp white linen sheets . Logs if you needed them but the heating was super warm. |Car parking space provided .

A wonderful 2 night stay to celebrate a birthday. Everything about the Yan exudes calm, from the beautiful rooms to the charming and engaged staff. Delicious unpretentious food delivered with a smile in a lovely dining environment. The location is amazing with the feeling of remoteness whilst being a stones through from Grasmere with so many beautiful walks from your doorstep. We have been coming to the lakes for years and this is the best hotel/restaurant experience we have had….so when we don’t self cater we will definitely be returning here. |Thanks for making us feel so special and welcome. Extraordinary attention to detail - such a beautiful retreat, nestled within the stunning backdrop and easily reached hills,;we were lucky enough to stay in the farmhouse and I cannot emphasise how cosy and relaxing we both felt. A five star standard and yet total rustic luxurious comfort. And the bistro is an absolute bonus of hearty gastronomic detail served by a warm and friendly folks. I made my husband promise to book us a stay next year! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

We did not stay in the hotel we only ate in the restaurant (twice during our holiday as it was so good we had to come back!!). Probably the best roast dinner out i have ever had! Pudding - cookie pie was absolute heaven. It is a pleasant place to sit with a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful. It is not cheap but it is good value as the food is so delicious.

A warm welcome awaited our second visit to The Yan in September, when we stayed for a week with our pug Floki. Our room with spectacular views overlooking Helm Crag was spacious, modern and cosy and best of all dog friendly. The Bistro food including The Yan Brekkie, which we ordered religiously each morning and the choice of dishes from the evening menu were delicious and cooked to perfection. We absolutely loved our stay, and wish The Yan Team a hearty and sincere thank you for making it possible. We will definitely be booking our third visit soon. Rachel, Richard and Floki

We stayed for a week in the Great Rigg pod and absolutely loved our time at The Yan. The staff were amazing and attentive – even before we arrived! During our stay, we got engaged in the pod, and the team went above and beyond helping my now fiancé with a balloon delivery to celebrate the occasion.||The restaurant staff were also incredible with my dairy allergy, making me feel completely comfortable asking questions and ensuring every meal was both safe and delicious. The pod itself was clean, spacious, and cosy, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay.||We’re already planning our next visit – we can’t recommend The Yan highly enough!

A great find in a beautiful part of the country. Food is brilliant and service was incredibly welcoming! Ordered the Sunday roast (pork belly) for two - an enormous amount to share, and every individual element was delicious. Usually I’d confess that I can make one part of a Sunday roast better at home, but in this case I must say everything was excellent.

I was excited to finally get the chance to dine at The Yan and I was not disappointed. We took our Canadian friends there on a night where the rain was torrential, but once inside we were warmly welcomed by the lovely, smiling staff. The food was really delicious and they were able to cater for the dietary requirements of one of our friends very well. My husband and I look forward to visiting again as soon as we get chance to be in the area again.
