"Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My! The Mendoza Zoological Park stretches 100-acres in General San Martin Park and is home to over a thousand animals including a lion, leopard, elephant, zebra, buffalo, camel, flamingos and seals to list a few. The original zoo was built in 1903 as part of the park’s original design by landscape architect Carlos Thays, but was moved to its present location near Cerro de la Gloria in 1941. The new zoo was designed with semi open enclosures that simulate the animal’s natural habitat. Guided visits are offered. Entrance fee: 10 pesos for children; 25 pesos for adults. The safest way to arrive is by car or bus rather than on foot. Av. Libertador S/N, General San Martin Park, Mendoza; +56 261 444 4411"

This zoo like all others disgust me! When are they going to learn, especially the tourists visiting?! How can you all sleep at night? You had the opportunity to move poor Arturo to a better place but made excuses! Any life left in him no matter how old he was was still better spent elsewhere. I can't believe how many years he had been cooped up in that confinement of his! And the state of him too, dirty and clearly distressed! You can make excuses all you want saying how he was 'looked after' and I noticed in some videos he was being sprayed down with a hose to keep him cool in the torturous heat, did you honestly think that was good enough? Arturo should have been in his natural habitat, what a waste of life! You should all be ashamed, let this hopefully be your lesson! RIP Arturo

This place is an absolute DISGRACE. For years Arturo was kept in those conditions and no one at that miserable zoo did anything about it! Everyday they walked right by this suffering creature and did nothing. The owner/ overseer should go to jail! His condition and subsequent death could have been prevented... but they did NOTHING to save him!! That poor bear obviously looks like he is in agony and utter distress. What a shame. Something must be done. May God have mercy on their souls.

I like to think every human being deserves the benefit of the doubt, but this is idealistic at best. Those that did this, not only are their actions deplorable, but they are simply lesser, more primitive humans. If you can live with seeing Arturo, for example, in his condition for 22 years, you must have a more primitive version of the human anatomy. I can't think of any other reason. All in, Zoos must go.

I have never been to your zoo this is the truth so I cannot say for definite how the animals are treated. I have seen the petition for the polar bear though and I pray this is not true. To keep him in those conditions is nothing but a slow cruel painful death and I would much rather visit somewhere that cares.deeply for its animals. I hope it is not true but if it is I would suggest you do the right thing

This place is awful. How they treat their animals is disgusting. I refuse to support a business that is willfully treating their animals like this. To have a polar bear exposed to high temperatures and not have any escape for him and no clean fresh water for him is torture. The owners of this zoo, should have to live like these animals are living. They should be ashamed of themselves.

ALL zoos are sick and despicable. ALL the animals will eventually die a lonely horrible death in captivity. Zoos are nothing but miserable jails for animals. Human criminals live in better conditions than animals in zoos. Our world is so sick it is disheartening. Your polar was so miserable and still all you can see are dollar signs!! What kind of soulless person puts an animal from the Arctic climates to hot Argentina!!! Zoos are just the beginning. People's fur trim jackets, so-called farm animals in nightmarish slaughterhouses... one evil is not lesser than the other evil but what you did to Arturo is mortifying. SHAME ON YOU. .. and shame on anyone supporting zoos of any kind.

A park run by selfish inconsiderate beings who kept an innocent polar bear in a concrete pit all alone and in severe unkind conditions just to exhibit him as if he was an object. They stood by years after years, watching the bear becoming slowly insane, turning him into the saddest animal on the planet, refusing to let animal organizations to save him. I strongly suggest you never visit this "park" so that people like the ones running this hell, stop harming innocent animals.

Absolutely disgusting what you people are doing to Arturo. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Zoo's in themselves are animal cruelty, and you guys are just making it 10x worse. Have some dignity for such a beautiful creature.
